These guys are all amazing players but as a tuba player myself, this one really impresses me. Such perfect timing and pitch and up and down the scale making it all so effortless and light and jaunty. What a beast.
Well most of the time at a Mnozil brass show, half the audience is composed of brass musician or musicians in general so not a surprise to see people clapping on time and on 2 and 4 xD
That's better than the original. Amazing how they play without music, memorising complex parts. Stellar group of musicians. Hope to hear them live one day.
Joe Zawinul wrote this tune when he was with Weather Report and spent most of his career based in the US. However, he was born in Austria and it was in Vienna where he died and is buried.
The original song is already great. But the quality of this specific arrangement shows how versatile these guys are. This is proper Jazz right there! Anyone knows if mister Paul is the arranger for this? Cheers!
I was never a great lover of this piece, and this version haas not changed my mind, although this time I did listen to the end. Well it was Mnozil Brass after all!!
