Therefore she had every right to get compensated… and how in the world are you going to compare the lady from Wonder Woman and Monique. Monique clearly stated that she was paid 50k and the lady from Wonder Woman got paid 350k. Not to mention her doing the promo run may have been part of her contract. Do you see the contract??? Exactly. I hate when people try to project it as she was upset about the amount she was fully aware fully knowledgeable about what she signed up for. She just didn't feel like she should have been out there promoting the movie for free, which is a separate job. Why should she promote the movie for free? And it wasn't even part of her contract and since they paid her so little what she was cool with. Why can't they just pay another $50,000 to advertise it if she agreed to $50,000 to play a whole lead role in a movie? I'm sure for $50,000 more she would have had no problem promoting it! They want us to believe that Lee Daniels Oprah Winfrey whoever didn't have $50,000 to give this woman for advertising. There are people right now sitting in regular everyday 9 to 5:00 marketing jobs making more than $50,000 a year right now, so Monique couldn't get an extra 50,000 at least for promoting the movie this is really bad math

Movie made 63 million on a 10 million budget and she only made $50K that 1060x earned more than she was paid that’s after recouping the $10 million budget. Tyler almost a billionaire and Oprah was already a billionaire refused to pay her for her presence that publicity would’ve put money in their pockets but they didn’t want to part way with any money. They did do her wrong but I think her management team should be questioned. 10 million budget and she got 50K. That’s under 1 percent of the actual budget. Dicaprio got around 40 percent of the budget (around £200 million)for his newest film. Some dodgy stuff in Hollywood with these agents and managers

Listen… You cannot compare a movie written and produced by an individual who was not well known at the time to a movie that is based off of a comic book character that has been around probably before you were born. That’s asinine. Gal Gadot wasn’t really well known and the fact that she did all of that promoting probably means it was in her contract to do so or she was convinced by her team that it was in her best interest to do it to boost her stardom. Mo’Nique already had a name for herself so technically she didn’t need the boost. FYI, Precious came out in 2009 and Wonder Woman came out in 2017, soooooooooo… Yeah, I’m going to leave it at that.

Not missing the point at all. She was asked to promote the movie overseas and she declined. She was not offered anymore money to do the promotion overseas. That should have been the end of the story. She and Tyler Perry had a another discussion asking her to promote the film. She declined again. Not only did she decline but she went on a campaign and public rant about how unfair the whole situation was. Tyler Perry was asked his opinion about Monique. He stated he thinks she is difficult to work with. His allowed his opinion. Just as you agree with Monique. It is only an opinion. She is not owed money for "potential earnings". She needs to have better representation. I'm afraid "Daddy" misses the mark.

Janet has said she and her husband were having problems and her husband was unemployed while she was on Fresh Prince. Monique's "daddy" husband works for her and Monique said they borrowed money from Kevin Harr. Why are other men being totally blamed for their downfall? I believe Will gave Janet money which is why she really stopped complaining. Netflix paid Monique to put an end to the whole discussion. Everyone isn't meant to be a big star. People have to accept some of the blame for what happens in their lives. Monique negotiated a 50k fee. They are not obligated to pay her more, just as she is not obligated to do more than the tasks that were agreed. I don't see the problem here. Just alot of mess, mostly out off jealousy.

This had nothing to do with negotiations. It was a low budget movie and $50k was fair. The problem is the movie got sold and made it big which nobody could have imagined. Lee Daniels sold the movie but did not put his people on. Monique did her part. Lee and Oprah failed her. When Lion’s gate purchased the movie they expected Monique to work for free.

Let's get it the story straight, the movie had a budget of $10M, yes Mo was paid $50k, however, Gabby was paid $30k and she was the main character. A $10M budget goes fast when you have to pay taxes, staff, equipment, city fees, state fees, filming fees, ordinance fees, filing fees, etc. Not to mention paying high vis celebrities to be in the movie to draw attention to the film in hopes people will come see it. Mariah Carey was reportedly paid $2mil, then there's Lenny Kravitz, Paula Patton, even Jamie Foxx whose character was removed but was still paid. All of them promoted the movie and not paid to do it. Lenny Kravitz minimum to appear in anything is $750k. Imagine Paula Patton and Jamie Foxx. The known and marketable performers will always be paid more because companies bank on them to bring the crowd. Mo wasn't and still isn't that. She's now more known for her beefs than her actual skill, which somehow has helped her in getting attention.

It benefits them in the long run. Every other person in that film promoted it with no issues without being paid except her. If she wanted to be paid for it, or have them pay for it if asked to, then she should've had her manager negotiate it. He however had no experience dealing with things like these as to why she missed out on so many other opportunities prior to that film and after. I used to get that all the time on my last job. They hosted an Open House once and I was on the food committee. The guy heading up the team was horrible. So incompetent. We went from finding caterers to: serving the food, cleaning out a creek that ran behind the office and being there all night long to clean-up. I asked if we were paid for this and he blew up and said no, we would get a free meal. The meal was probably $10. For eight+ hours of work?! No way. His trick was to try and get us to volunteer to help, but then say he didn't know yet what all was involved. Lies!

You got to understand the business side. Studios and investors bankrolled for the films to be screened so they get the larger share of the cut. Now some negotiate to get more money 💰 other backend after the gross of the film is met but usually only A List actors get that type of deal. This was a breakthru visibility film to have potentially better bargaining terms on the next film. Plus producers and other big name celebs promoting the film needed their cut so that cuts out of the profits too.

Teachers have to do bus duty, play parent, after school sports and yet they do it in spite of the contract they sign. The next year some are offered contracts and some are not. My point is that in Hollywood many promote the movie without extra pay, because they will get the "gifts" back later. People call them for work, send promotional gifts etc.. About Oprah...She is always trying to do good for people and perhaps this wasn't her best year but why try to destroy her every chance? I remember when she apologized to Monique but it will never be enough.
