But we can be thankful for this fact , If Daryl Singletary was one of Mo Pitney's inspirations then we can all rest assured that along with Daryle's music and many other covers and originals. Thank you, Mo. I think Daryle Singletary exposed many of us to songs we might not have otherwise heard, or maybe not cared for in the original rendition. For me, it was "Old Violin." I don't know how or why I acquired his album, "That's Why I Sing This Way," so many years ago, but I am so glad I did. Thankful he shared his gift with the rest of us who can't hit those notes.

I have my 14 year old listening to you. He has always had a high voice and naturally sings harmony (our entire family are musicians/singers) and his voice is changing...he's been upset and thinks "he can't sing anymore." He plays bass, piano, sax, clarinet, drums...and his Daddy is with the Mercy Mountain Boys...plays piano, drums, bass, guitar and sings. Young man, I'm sorry to say that I don't know who you are, but you just touched my heart in a really big way. I'm not sure if this message will ever get to you personally, but perhaps it will. The first time I ever heard Daryle sing, I was hooked! I just KNEW he was going to be the next biggest star on radio, tv, whatever. I appreciated the TRUE sound, the words he was singing, just his SOUND filled my heart. I bought all his records. I sang them, I sang them to my two little girls and they sang along. I guess I just wanted to tell you that I can see the hurt in your eyes over our loss, and let you know that I am feeling i too. Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice. RIP Daryle

Watched this 2am this morning, not a terribly emotional person but when I heard this and thought about how bad new country is, I damn near broke down and cried.
I love this song, and when I hear Doug supernaw do it i still get chills. Nothing taken away from anyone else who has ever done this song, and there was many...but listen to Doug Supernaw's version if you haven't heard it before.
