That part of the song is definitely my favourite. Just how it is sung and the lines itself are truly breaking into the fact that Maui isn’t indestructible.
The fact that he speaks directly to the audience at 1:55 by saying "decapod (Look it up)" because they knew a good portion of the audience wouldn't know what it was is amazing
i actually like both the verses and the chorus. the imposing tone is great for the villainy but the upbeat chorus kinda suits tamatoa’s personality. it makes him sound fun but a deadly serious threat at the same time
I mean he was literally bragging about himself the entire time save for when he went after Maui directly. Right before he starts in he straight up says "Are you just trying to get me to talk about myself? Because if you are.... I will gladly do so! In song form!" And as they run off he merely asks them if they like the song. He wasn't trying to be threatening until the bioluminescent bit.

There are literally hundreds of reasons why Moana shouldn't get a live-action remake this early (or a live-action remake at all), one of them includes the fact that Tamatoa is going to be Nightmare Fuel in real-life!

Actually it's the only reason to make a live action adaptation. If Tomatoa would look like real crab then it would be nightmare fuel and it would make him much more Intimidating villain.
This whole sound just sounds kinda silly. The voice is almost never in tune with the music, he's always talking about himself, it's a fun song. This part is the only part of the song where it feels like Tamatoa is really trying to ruin Maui, and I've never seen a cover of this song truly capture that yet.
This song is perfect for being sung by eccentric villains like Tamatoa, coupled with the very epic song that really stirs up the emotions of listeners.
As a Disney loving 90's kid this movie was SO FRIGGIN CUTE!!!!! I was 26 with no kids when it originally came out (2016) & refused to watch it out of spite.. Come "Thanksgiving" 2021 I binge watched Dinsey+ while cooking & this movie was one of the programs I watched! I wasn't even looking at the screen when the crab came on... but the moment he started singing I was dancing & singing along.. .. "I'M SHINY!!!" I am 31 years old. This film is Disney Gold.
