I think it's because when someone dies that you knew personally, even if it was an enemy, the death itself is a wakeup call at how important life is and it makes you realize whatever beef yall had was worthless. And you can see and admit whatver good you previously refused to see in them... it seems fake in some scenarios, but it's kinda like when we see 2 retired boxers sit together and reminiscence about their bitter rivalry back in the day..
