Whoever created this anime, 100% understand boys & men. Might be centered around a specific culture, but the theme of a emotionally unexpressive boy actually being full of very powerful/destructive emotions if not kept in check is universal and not done on accident.

Its based on the webtoon made by ONE. The same guy who created One Punch Man, dude can't draw (his style is very choppy and amateurish at best) but he got himself a great reputation for being an outstanding comics writer.
