Thank you so much!! It’s been a huge change, something I know that we all needed. Finally getting rid of that nasty drab old 70s wood paneling has been severely therapeutic! Lol. The whole family loves it and has really been enjoying it. And yes, we love the counters too. All that’s left to do now is to paint the insides of some of the cabinets in the pantry as well as the kitchen door and put up a curtain in the kitchen window, and we will be finished with the kitchen hopefully will put down some new floor to at some point, but that’s only if we stay longer than we expect to. Hi!! Thank you for the wonderful comment!! So the resin I used for the countertop is called Glaze Coat and it’s by Famowood. It was tricky to use, as it sets up rather quickly, and it needs to be spread out quickly so it can even out. I don’t recommend it. There are other resins you can use. Medina from Fearfully Created just did her island with a resin that she seemed to have no trouble with. I think she may have found a better product. The Black paint is from Glidden. I can’t remember the name of the paint color, but it came off of one of those swatch sample and it’s the blackest black they have. Thanks so much for watching and being here!! Hi Sandy! Thank you so very much! And your contributions have been such an answer to prayer actually. I thank you so much for your kindness. So the only thing that I used for the backsplash was some black paint and white paint. I mixed it together and make gray. I used just a regular kitchen sponge from the grocery store that I purchased brand new, and I dipped that into the gray paint and wiped it off and then just applied it to the walls the way that you see the video. That was super easy to do because sponges can also be cut so that you can get into places that a larger sponge can’t. It makes it easier for doing edging and stuff like that. As far as countertops are concerned, that was an epoxy resin called Glaze Coat and it’s by Famowood. You can get it at Home Depot or Lowe’s. I know that Walmart sells it also, but it’s a lot more expensive for some reason. It’s one of those materials that if you’ve never used it before, it could be very tricky and can really cause more headache and it’s worse. The set up time is kind of fast so you have to work with it really quickly. I had to roll it out on the countertops after I poured it on so that I could get a quick coverage since it was a rather large space. I wound up having to buy three boxes of it because each one only covered 6.4 ft.². I used most of it. The one thing about the glaze coat is that once it sits for a while after it’s been mixed, it will get hot so you can’t touch it. I wound up having to set the part that I did not use, outside. All in all it was an easy makeover. I used the Glidden premium paint from Home Depot. It has a primer already in the paint so it worked well with cabinets. I’m actually planning on doing a poly-crylic coating over the cabinets at some point, just to help protect the paint, and hopefully keep it in good condition for a long time. Hi Thelma! Ok, so the paint was Glidden Diamond in the color Black Magic. I got it in a Matte finish. The glossiness is an epoxy sealant that was kind of challenging to use, called Glaze Coat by Famowood. They sell it at Home Depot and Lowe’s for $25 a box. It only covers 6.4 square feet, and we needed 3 boxes for all the surfaces we covered. It was a great learning experience and I’ve developed a lot of skill just through this makeover. Hi there!! Thank you! In all transparency, that epoxy, while super easy to mix together, has a pretty quick setup when drying, so you have to be kind of fast. Also, watch videos on how to do it. Ours turned out OK... but it could have been so much better. There was some sediment and cat hair that floated down on top of it while it was curing, so that's there permanently. Fortunately, it did dry/cure pretty quickly. I had to use a hair dryer as a heat source, which it calls for when applying it to help get bubbles out. I think what I might do in the future is do a speckled countertop by adding some gray and white to the top by sponging it on, and then redoing the epoxy coat. I think it will hide any imprefections much better. If you go this route, I recommend not pure black with that epoxy. I'd go with a marble or specked look first and then do the epoxy. Also, tape off the sink or take the sink out before applying the epoxy. It will make the process much easier when it comes to getting every edge and corner without getting it all over the sink. I wish I would have been able to do that with ours, but I just don't have that skill yet. Anyway, I wish you the best if you do choose to do it. Again the epoxy I purchased was Glaze Coat by Famowood, and you can get it at Home Depot or Lowes. Have a great day, and thanks so much for watching and commenting!! It really means the world to me!
