This is becoming a national disgrace. Displaced mobile home owners deserve to be compensation for the loss of their property or compensation to help defray the cost of moving those that can be moved.

they've had cheap rent for years if not decades. Plenty of opportunity for them to work and save more. So many just make enough to 'get by.' They're happy with that, but one day something like this happens and they wish they had money saved up but they never bothered to lift a finger to better themselves. Oh well. Bye bye, they are out of there now.

I'm so grateful I used my common sense and BOUGHT an acre of land back in the 90's to move my paid off trailer on. I have been rent free since then. There were just too many rules to abide by in the trailer park. No overnight guests, no working on your vehicles, kids couldn't ride their bikes in the park were just a few. I finally got fed up and took a drive in the country and found an acre of land which has been plenty for me. People are just giving money away when they rent. Buy instead.

I know a guy and his wife who bought a moble home about 20 years or so ago. When they bought it they were also smart enough to buy the land it was on. A couple of years ago some developer wanted to build condo's on the moble home lot. From what I was told a lot of the people there were renting the homes along with the lot space or just the space alone. The developer's agent told they guy he and his wife had to leave, he said nope I don't I own this piece of land my moble home is on. The agent said he would be calling the police and have him removed, the guy said go right ahead and make sure to ask for Lt. whatever his name was ( I never give out real names ). After about a week and the help of a lawyer friend, the developer ended up traiding the moble home and the land for a 2/2 condo. It was a lot cheaper and faster than going to court. They also agreed in writing the monthy condo fees would be $95 and not a penny more for the next 25 years.

They don't own the land, just the trailer. They just pay lot rent which is cheaper than renting a trailer owned by the park. Besides this, a lot of privately owned mobile home communities are being sold to larger businesses who don't care about the people and are jacking up the rent for owners and renters. Driving the poorest out that can't afford the fees anymore. The name of the game is profit above all else. It sucks, but that is what happens when politicians make tax breaks and deregulation job one over the health and wellbeing of the population.

compensation for what? out of code, derelict trailers that can't be moved and will have to be torn down and scrapped? Why don't they bill them for the disposal costs? One place in Ohio charges $700 a month for a trailer park. Wow. That's a home mortgage payment and you own the land. People who live in trailers never wanted any responsibility. They paid for their trailer and they live in them until they completely fall apart. It's no ones fault these people never planned for their retirement or life outside a trailer park. They have to get out by September. Move on.....

I disagree with the last statement made; most mh owners buy because they do NOT want apartment living. That was certainly my case. I’ve always understood the risks of not owning the land under my feet. The problem with older mobile homes is that even very well-kept ones eventually won’t meet codes for transport, never mind the ones held together with spit and baling wire. MH park dwellers must never lose sight of the fact that they are renters; every park-situated mh purchase contract I’ve ever signed has spelled out in detail my rights/obligations as a renter and the park’s rights/obligations as a ‘landlord’. These folks needed to examine their paperwork months ago to decide on a plan.

Yes temporary trailers can be housed there until the people can find permanent housing. They should be fully compensated for losing their housing because they are losing their housing due to no fault of their own.
