Mobile home skirting using treated lumber

Took down the vinyl mobile home skirting and put treated lumber skirting in its place. It looks much nicer and won't get holes in it from weed eater contact. When it dries out, I'll install some vents and my wife will paint it dark brown like the skirting that was there.

I have stopped caring what the city thinks. I built my carport without a permit, my porch without a permit, my fence and gate without a permit. Before they will give you a permit, they send a code enforcement officer to my property to see if what I want to build is acceptable to them. I don’t need someone who is also the dog catcher, telling what or how I can build something.

@@bctruck We had a code enforcement individual (idiot) not approve our gas line. My Mobile sits on a sand and clay fill dirt pad and I want a level permanent surface to mount the skirting to. I've thought about the tiles and vinyl or cement board. I feel your pain and I'm having to stand to type this cuz of hip pain I have while sitting. I think the hip pain is from a sciatica condition I get from being a pure back sleeper. I got a Sports Doctor RU-vid tip and have cured my sciatica low back pain several times by putting a pillow under my knees. I guess I love pain, lol :( , cuz every time I cure myself, I kick the pillow and the pain comes back after a few months. Last night I started using the pillow again, and doing some hip stretches I saw on YT that hopefully will stop the pain.

Get yourself one of those lawn and garden creeper chairs. You can roll 'em sideways while you're workin' and you don't have to be bent over all day. They've got big tires on them so they can roll off road rather easily. I'd have one myself but my knees can't take being bent that much. I'm too tall for most of that stuff. I haven’t gotten to that side yet. I can only afford a little wood at a time and right now I’m paying for cataract surgery. I hope by spring I can buy more lumber and I’ll show how I plan to attach it.

@@bctruck I know how that goes. I just happened to find a great deal on a load of cedar, enough to do all my skirting. I have no skirting now so hoping to have mine done this week. I did get a few ideas watching videos so hopefully this pans out ok haha

Shalom! With this as skirting should we have to worry about termites?

Its treated wood, so Im more worried about rotting than termites.

I hate Phillips screws. I will not buy them anymore. I only use torx.

I have thousands and thousands of Philips screws of every length. I’ll be dead before I use them all. I have 3 1/2 inch deck screws that are torx.

you should get yourself a cart with wheels and you could slide along and sit while you do it or a wagon or something instead of bending over sitting on your knees

All joking aside, I have heard that if you soap the screw threads with bar soap they go in easier. Haven't tried it yet.
@saltyshellback

@@Jimwill01 That's true. My dad taught me that a long time ago. He also said to rub soap on a saw to make it cut easier 😉

My dad taught me to stand in water before I plug an extension cord in and to check my fuel level with a lighter.
