Its never unlimited. Once over certain gigabite download ur speed goes very slow. Otherwise everybody would buy 3bucks simcards and download 4k avatar movies nonstop in thailand. @@tomlines2010

That sim card is not on sale in 711 anymore. If you have sim, however, you can add that package at the cashier. Now you can buy a slightly higher speed variant for 199 THB at 711.

I just got the sim card. Thank you. Note: if one 7-11 doesn't have this sim card, go to another one. I had to buy two, but the first 7-11 only had one. Also, I was getting your speed and this sim card is better than the tourist ones. I didn't lose connection with this sim card.

Thank you for the video, very helpful! Just one thought... I will be landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport BKK and then take a taxi to Pattaya, but I want internet the whole trip to pattaya. So I was thinking that if there is a 7-Eleven at the airport you can probably buy the same Sim-Card as you showed on the video.
Annoyingly, the 7-11 in the airport (basement, opposite entrance to airport rail link) doesn't sell regular SIM cards. I'd just get one as soon as you are in Pattaya or ask the taxi to stop at a 7-11 along the way then set it up in the taxi. There's loads of 7-11s at motorway services along the way. The coverage is great. I used it all over the country with no issues. The only places with no coverage are the really remote areas but that's the same regardless of SIM package or network. Overall, coverage in Thailand is extremely good (far better than the UK). Thanks for watching and I'm glad you found it to be useful!
There seems to be some confusion in regard to the "speed" of the SIM card. While the "download" speed is shown high, the "surfing" speed may be a lot slower. Surfing speed depends on several factors such as; browser's efficiency in connecting only once to each web server linked-to on the webpage, browser's efficiency in serving up the page even if not all the pieces have arrived yet and the website server's administrator allowing the keep-alive of connections.
It's unlimited speed until a certain amount of data has been used then it gets throttled to 4mbps. I'm not sure what the amount is before this but it's extremely fast until then and even the 4mbps is fine for internet browsing, streaming (720/1080) and being tethered to a laptop. I'm not sure if this exact deal is still going so I'll do an update in a few weeks when I'm back. Thanks for watching 👍
@@pg.travels I'm actually in Bangkok right now. I have been to a few 7/11's near Nana BTS but I haven't seen one yet. I don’t think all the stores carry SIM cards but I'll keep looking.
@@fattony9227 Some of the smaller ones don't and in tourist areas, they might try to sell you the tourist SIM. The last time I bought one of these from the video was 3 months ago (July '23) and I got one from the 7-11 in Silom Edge mall. First place I tried and they had it and plenty of others.. I'll do an update if it's been discontinued though
They change which are available from time to time. This one from the video is difficult to find now but there are others similar. I did a video 6 months ish ago getting something similar on DTAC. There are always deals available similar to this, if not exactly the same.. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
Great video. Can I buy a True SIM card from 7/11 and then wait a year to activate it ? Buy it now when I am in Thailand, when I return next year and get off the plane I can just insert it and go ?
The 7-11s will all have the same deals as the network stores. You might find some older deals still in 7-11s where the network stores will only have the latest deals but if it's a like for like comparison, you'll get the same price. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
I think the price has gone up a bit. 350 baht for unlimited and 200 baht for 30gb. I went for the 30gb. If I go over, I could always top up when my internet runs out.
Hey man great video. I am currently in Thailand, very new, bought about 5 sims in total from different companies and with different plans over the past 2 weeks. Currently paying 695baht for exactly what you showed in the video from dtac. But it's actually limited at 4mbits. Which is frustrating. The first day it wasn't. I had about 20+Mbits, But the second and today third day it never gets over 3,7mbits. (I bought 4mbits officially). Maybe you got a better solution? I will try some tests with true move. Only had it with 15GB and 15mbit as far as I remember. Consumed it fast but the speed was exceptional. I will do a Speedtest for my current true move sim which also has limited internet. Just bought one for 7 days, then consumed it too early and that's how I ended up with so many sims. Am also traveling with gf, so in fact 5 sims for 2 people. I didn't really bother what I got. Just wanted internet asap so I could go around and find a place to stay asap. Got that now. Now it's time to optimize the internet haha
I think they only do physical Sims. I'd go into a True or Dtac store (every mall has one) for something like that. I've never seen an E-Sim phone so don't really know... Good luck..
I bought one truemove tourist sim card last year from airport. This year I'm visiting again hopefully, can I use that sim card again by recharge / top up or I need to buy another one again?? Can you please help by the information?
They expire after so long without being used (6 months?) And I wouldn't recommend a tourist Sim anyway. The one that I've got in the video is good and there's other similar ones in case you wanted calls rather than just data etc. Any 7-11 once outside of the airport and you'll find loads of choice. Just ask for a SIM card and they'll pull a box out. The packaging is in Thai but it's easy enough to figure out. Thanks for watching 👍
@@pg.travelsI made the huge mistake having locked cell phones on my last trip and had to get my sister and tmobile , since my sister gave me her old phone, and we worked it out.
The new SIM will have it's own number. There's no way of keeping your UK number and getting cheap data in Thailand unless your network in the UK gives free roaming here (none do at the moment). If you have a phone with 2 SIM slots, you can use the Thai SIM for your data and still get texts, incoming calls etc on your UK SIM / number. The number is attached to the SIM. I'm not 100% sure. The pre-pay SIM's in Thailand expire if they aren't used for an amount of time. I have had some in the past that work fine after 6 months of inactivity but others that have expired. If you put the sim in your phone when you are back, see if it gets signal or check the balance and you will know if it is OK or not. Thanks for watching!

I always use WhatsApp/ IG messenger etc but to call other networks, just add some credit at 7-11 and you can call. Other Thai numbers are pretty cheap but stick to messaging apps for international calls / texts. Thanks for watching 👍
Update... I went to many 7 elevens and showed them a screenshot and nobody had it. Eventually went to a true move and got a SIM for 50 and then they installed the unlimited 4mbps for 30 days for 150. Data was pretty slow when tested (2mbps) but it's fine as I just need for google translate, WhatsApp, maps, etc. Also she said no calls or texts.
@@LianneBronzo Maybe they are changing the promo's? I bought one at a 7-11 in BKK about 2 weeks ago and they had a lot still so they are around in some places
@@LianneBronzo That was at a 7-11 in the Silom Edge mall. It was the first one that I went in to. I saw them on the shelf at my local 7-11 in Hua Hin too (they'll be on a display in some bigger 7-11's) so they are definitely around still. One issue I've faced before is when you are foreign, they'll automatically try to sell you a tourist Sim and don't always get all of them out. It sounds like you got a different promo too. These Sims always have a really fast speed for an amount of usage (like on the video) then throttle to the 4mbps which it shows on the packet. It resets daily though. (I didn't know this when making the video)

I had one for a month in November (full speed all month) and I've got another now (1 week into this with no problems). They send messages saying that you've used up the high speed data allowance but I noticed no change and when I did the speed test, I still got the same speeds. Have you got the same SIM card as I've filmed?
It would but the rates would be high. You'd either want a tourist SIM for this (international calls are cheap on these) or just use apps like WhatsApp, messenger etc then it's free / just using the data. Thanks for watching 👍🏽

It’s normal in Thailand they give you as much as speed can do they say 4mb (depends on where you at and how much people around you using the same signal tower at the same time)just to make sure that the speed is not slower than the advertisement says.
The number is linked to the SIM so for regular calls, you'd have a new number but your WhatsApp etc are unaffected unless you updated the number in your WhatsApp settings. All apps will work as normal. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
If your iPhone isn't locked to a particular network in the US, you could just put one of these SIM cards into your iPhone then you'll have access to all of your apps etc as normal, all on one phone. If you were going to be roaming, check your roaming fees before coming as they can sometimes be high. Most businesses (restaurants, shops etc) will be happy to give you their WiFi password here so you'll still be online in most places. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi I live in the UK and my Chinese friend who just came back from Thailand was good enough to buy and send me a truemove 10 day tourist sim card so I didn't have to purchase it at BKK or a true store. The only problem is the quick set up 4 page booklet is all in Chinese. Would anyone happen to have the link or photos of the UK written quick set up guide?
You can change the customer service into English by dialling the same number as I mentioned in the video. If you go onto the true move website, you can get everything in English too. They give out the tourist Sims at the airport for free so you could grab an English one when you arrive or better still, get one like this from the video or something similar and avoid the tourist prices! I use mine to tether from my mobile phone onto my laptop with no issues so it should be fine although I've never actually used a portable WiFi thing with it. If your phone has a hotspot from it, this would work the same. Thanks for watching 👍
Yeah, you can buy a SIM, add credit then activate a promo. All of the promo's have a code to activate them which are on their website. If you have the credit available on your SIM card, you can activate it. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

No. I use it to tether to my laptop and get through a lot of data and the speed stays the same. They send occasional messages saying that you have used up your high speed data etc which made me think it would be throttled but I checked and it has never changed. My friends are all on these Sims too and none of us have had speeds throttled (I thought I'd got lucky at first). Thanks for watching 👍
I just had a look on the True Move website and they do support eSIM's but it didn't say if you can get all of the same deals. From their site, it looked like it's just available in their stores, it doesn't mention 7-11 and I've never seen anything advertised in a 7-11 about e Sims. The 150 Baht is only for the data but you can add credit for calls and texts too. There are packages for that too but it gets complicated once you start looking at different package options. Virtually everyone in Thailand uses line, messenger or other messaging apps so you wouldn't have much of a need for calling minutes or SMS. Thanks for watching 👍

Yeah. You'd be amazed how good the speeds are in the rural areas. Obviously, if you are right in the jungle, you'll struggle but signal strength is generally good on all networks in rural areas of Thailand. Thanks for watching 👍
