Mobster - Angelo Ruggiero & John Gotti

Angelo Salvatore Ruggiero, Sr. was a member of the Gambino crime family and a deferential friend of John Gotti. Under Gotti's leadership Ruggiero became a caporegime though he became widely seen as an over talkative enforcer type without the astuteness needed for running lucrative rackets. Gotti, by then the most targeted criminal in the country, came to share the assessment amid mounting investigative pressure and costly blunders by the inveterately indiscreet Ruggiero, who had completely fallen from favor by the time of his death. The FBI regarded Ruggiero, whose open defiance of law enforcement extended to swearing at the judge during a hearing, as an unpredictable psychopath not amenable to confrontational tactics.

@calo10able expound on what made him a great boss??? I'll at least tell you that he made some immensely DUMB moves especially when he mandated that all the soldiers pay homage to him at the ravenite social club once a week. Obviously he never learned from the comission trial to remain secret. He didn't listen to wise counsel on how a boss was supposed to comport himself. Instead he became a megalomaniac. I'll grant you that he was charismatic, but that will only get you so far my friend.
@Booth1667
@Booth1667 5 лет назад
@calo10able railroaded how?? Gotti was convicted by his own words( as well as the testimony of Sammy Gravano) in that apartment above the ravenite social club. Then he bad mouthed Sammy because of his ability to make huge amounts of money in construction and other complex business deals. He was too too flashy and bosses cannot operate like that if they wish to remain in power. Gambino lasted 21 years because he understood that cosa nostra was THEIR THING and not the public's. John Gotti unfortunately felt otherwise and that's why he lasted as a street boss for 5 years. Sure he had flare and impressed many in the neighborhood but that don't mean shit when the feds were looking for anything to can his ass.
@Booth1667
@Booth1667 5 лет назад
@calo10able when the FBI, after Hoover's death, decided to go after cosa nostra, that spelled the beginning of their demise. The reason that Gotti's lawyer was barred from representing him was because his voice were on tapes which proved to be a conflict of interest. In esscence the lawyer was subject to being called as a witness. Sammy more than likely felt that Gotti was scheming to double cross him so he stuck first and became a rat.

The Gambino family feud of the 70’s and 80’s is probably the greatest soap opera in American mob history. Carlo Gambino dies, names Paul as his successor, starts feuds in the family, Neil dies, Gotti and Sammy have Paul killed, then Gotti and Sammy have their feuds and leads to the prosecution of Gotti. There should be a TV series on the Gambino family of the 70’s to 90’s. Movie is not enough time to cover it all.
@MrUgotz472
@MrUgotz472 3 года назад
What was Gotti so damn afraid of about “the Chin”?? IMO Gotti the way Sparks was put together, could have whacked Gigante cause the Gambino Family was still supposedly were the strongest, biggest and financially capable! I just was damn impressed with the way that he positioned the gun men and putting Carneglia on the spot cause he although quiet and underrated had a good rep for matters like this. TonyRoach Rampino was postponed across the street from the restaurant and as Castellano went down, “the Wig” got low and then as Tony fires at Bilotti Carneglia is coming around making damn sure both men were gone!!!

@sx2extreme895
@sx2extreme895 3 года назад
Of course Gotti was in the loop, Gotti is who ordered the hit on Paul Castellano in order to become boss and prevent his own assassination from happening over his drug dealing against the orders of the Commission. The Commission was not consulted regarding Paul being whacked and that is what was “unsanctioned”, and that was another example of Gotti not being quite the right guy for leadership as nobody is bigger than the council.

your video's are great, good info, love to hear the backstories of gangster's you hear about on mob movies but never get much info bout them like sonny "red" or paul vario and stuff. have you ever thought about doing videos on the italy or sicily mafioso? or the calabrian (italian) mafia and gangster's from australia like bob trembolli or alphonse gangetano and mick gatto from the carlton crew. i think the italian mafia was pritty strong in aussie during the 70's when mr asia (a new zealander) was the biggest heroin & cocaine dealer south of the globe, he partnered with the mafia for protection.

Not bad. A few things though are way off. No disrespect intended. When Johnny Boy and Quack were made, Neil was doing a bullet upstate. Many think that if Neil was free he would have been named Caporegieme instead of Paul Castellano. When Aniello Dellacroce, aka O’Neil, Neil, Father O’Neil got out the Gambinos we’re ready for a war. Neil had the most powerful crews on his side, including the Fatico crew that Gotti and Ange were a part of. Castellano did not want a war. Instead he made Neil the Boss of Manhattan which he ran from the club on Mulberry street, right across from the original St. Patrick’s, Called the Ravenite social club. Gotti used it as home base after becoming boss. The biggest mistake though revolves around the babania business. Heroin. Carlo Gambino had been heavily involved in global heroin trafficking since 1957 when Lucky Luciano brokered a deal with the Sicilian Mafia. Gambino comes from Mafia royalty in Sicily and brought over hundreds of “Zips,” the nickname for Sicilian mafiosi given to them by their American cousins because they talked so fast. Sal Catalano aka “Toto” who later took over the Bonanno family post Donnie Brasco, Tomasso Buscetta, and others. Heroin was by far the biggest money maker for all five families, they called this Cartel “The French Connection” because the Sicilian Mafia and the Unione Corsicani, the powerful Corsican mob, were thick in Marseille. Later they called it the “Pizza Connection.” Because of the strict drug laws passed in 1956, the rule was don’t talk about it ever, but make sure you kick up the ladder in proper fashion. Neil had been in dope since he was Albert A’s right hand, going back to the late 1940’s. This myth about drugs is a long running ruse. Pure bullshit. Neil would front a trusted soldato a million dollars and say, “ Two million by the end of the month.” The Godfather film also spun a fairytale out of the drugs business. Heroin is still the cash cow. The Sicilian Mafia make about 11 billion dollars a year from it, 7% of Italy’s GDP. The American Mafia, now deeply undercover still control all heroin wholesaling east of the Mississippi River. The Mexican cartels sell black tar, a rather inferior product to the “China White,” sold in the East. China White is the color, not the country of origin. The Gambino Family began to trade Cocaine via the Caruana-Contrera Family of Monreale Sicily, called the “Rothschild’s” of the Mafia, who had a huge presence in Venezuela. Coke went to Europe, Heroin came to America often through Montreal, Canada.
@perpetualmotion357
@perpetualmotion357 3 года назад
Most of the heroin nowadays is fentanyl coming from south of the border from China. Other than dirty black tar it's very hard to find real heroin anymore. Even the Oxy pills are almost always fakes that are really fentanyl. Fentanyl is around 50x stronger than H which is why overdose statistics have been so extreme the past 5 years.

So Ruggiero was the one that really brought the Gambino family down . Regardless if Sammy didn't snitch , they were going down anyway because of Angelo's mouth , he revealed to much on those tapes. Gotti new in the back of his mind , that they could be convicted in the courts . *THAT'S* , the reason why he didn't want to go to Angelo's funeral . He envisioned *his his own funeral while alive* and here is his friend who's now dead , lived what they call the good life , is escaping prison.
@imablazeuonfiya
@imablazeuonfiya Месяц назад
EXACTLY 💯. I don't really believe Sammy Gravano's opinion in that John Gotti wanted to be a savage animal towards Angelo Ruggiero. I think him realizing that Angelo dying (and eventually died) and escaping essentially a lifetime prison sentence was a sobering reality for John Gotti that he was finished.
