I'm going to start copy and pasting this comment on to every slot video I watch, because it turns out a lot of you commenting on slot videos don't know the details about how slots work. So I'm going to explain how they _do_ work in the hope it will help some of you avoid throwing your money away because of a misunderstanding. First, if you lose a lot of money on a machine, or you watch someone else lose a lot of money on a machine, the machine is not "due to pay out" or any rubbish like that. Forget this idea right now because it's just not true. *FOBTs are not old fashioned, mechanical pub fruit machines.* They do not have a hopper inside to collect money which then has to dump out the lot when it gets full. They are computer games and the outcome of every spin is determined by a random number generator - essentially like rolling a dice except it has hundreds or thousands of possible outcomes instead of just six. Second, the inverse of the above - if you've just won a jackpot, you haven't "emptied" the machine, setting the next punter up for a loss. There's nothing to empty. The machine doesn't remember or care about the result of previous spins when you spin again. It might take ten grand without doing anything, it might pay out ten jackpots in the space of ten minutes. It doesn't know, it doesn't care. So if that's true, how can the bookies be sure they'll always win in the long run you ask? Easy. Let's go back to dice. Imagine I run a one-man casino and I offer one game - a dice roll. It's very simple. You pay me a quid as your bet, you roll a dice and if it lands on six, you win a fiver. That's it, that's the game. As the casino, I will always win in the long run there, because by random chance, you will only win 1 in 6 times. *But* I'm not paying you six quid for a win, I'm only paying you five. So after 1200 rolls, probability says I've taken in £1200 in bets, but I've only paid out £1000 (200 x £5) in winnings. This means the long term RTP of my dice roll game is 83%. The other 17% of takings are mine to keep. Sure, I might have days where a freakishly large number of sixes happen to land, but the maths of probability guarantees me that in the long run, the more people play my game and roll my dice, the more my actual results will trend closer and closer towards the RTP and I will end up with 17% of the takings to keep for myself. I don't need to rig the game, I don't need to keep track of who's won and who's lost and load the dice so that it pays out after someone else's big loss, or takes money in after someone else's big win. Probability will take care of it all for me. That's how FOBTs work. They are dice rolls, but instead of six sides, the dice has a few thousand sides. And most of those sides say "no win", some of them say "player wins £25", some of them say "player gets bonus feature with £75 win", and a very small number of them say "player wins £500 jackpot" *Important* there is one exception to all of this. A few types of game, for example Fortune Spins on games like Luck of the Irish or Centurion, *are* what we call compensated, which means they *are* like those old pub fruit machines and will decide to pay out based on how much they've taken in. Fortunately, the law says games which fall in to this category have to say very clearly on the loading/splash screen the words "THIS GAME IS COMPENSATED AND MAY BE INFLUENCED BY PREVIOUS PLAY". So if you see that, it's a game to avoid. But any game which says "THIS GAME IS 100% RANDOM" or "THE OUTCOME OF ANY GAME IS RANDOM" or variations of those, they work like the dice roll game.

Nice win but if you'd have gone on Tai flower first with £100 then got the £500 jackpot you would have won £400 profit instead of £200 profit but still better than nothing brother.

I been playing these fobts for 10 years I played the original roulette for an hour 3 weeks ago couldn’t get a number then I switch to dragon roulette and won £360 within 5 mins it turned out that everyone said dragon roulette was paying good over the last week which is why I gave it a go. That isn't how it works. The machine isn't there with a log inside going like right on the twelfth spin from now I need to pay out a jackpot. They're random. It's shocking how many people are playing these things under the misunderstanding that they're like the old mechanical fruit machines with coin hoppers inside which can be filled up and then dumped. FOBTs don't work that way. They're not "due", you won't get a big win because you just watched some old dear stick her pension in and lose and you haven't "emptied" the machine for the next punter by taking out a jackpot. **They don't work that way**
