the only kinda "criticism" that I'd have for him, it's more just behavioral (I'm no comedy expert) I think he could use to do a better job of shrouding the laughter at his own jokes. I don't mind comics doing that to a degree and I get it, but most hide it a little better. like if you really visually linger in whatever the emotion was of your punchline (incredulous, disgusted, confused, etc), after you deliver you can then get more get away with a giggle, cause then it's like you're just laughing along with everyone else. But, unfortunately since he's got sort of a natural smarmy looking expression anyway, it looks like he's just proud of himself. I don't know if anyone will even get what I'm talking about, I know it's a very specific, subtle thing lol
@@kevinw712 I did notice that, but he might not feel like overthinking what his face looks like, probably busy thinking of another joke and excited about it :D
@@kevinw712 Nah dude, I get exactly what you mean by this. He does keep the same, as you said, a sort of smarmy facial expression at most times rather than just staying in one emotion to allow laughs to continue.
@@macktlo9 the one with Brian Blessed. Normally Hignfy is the best when they have a politician on and just make fun of them to their face, but if the show don't end up working for you at least you will have seen the unbelievable episode.
I discovered MTW on youtube at the start of the pandemic in 2020. It led me to many other marvelous British comedy shows like HIGNFY, QI, Taskmaster, Last Leg, WILTY, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Those programs got me through the isolation and fear of the last 2 years. Many thanks to Dara, Hugh, et al. I'm very sorry to see your show end.
Same history here, except starting earlier. Do you listen to Elis James and John Robins on BBC 5? I listen thru Tune In Radio on my phone. Not a panel show, but very funny, and touching at times.
If you tuned in to this episode when Alasdair and Josh were doing the stand up challenge you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd just turned over to a documentary about Roadies who worked with Jethro Tull
It was that woman who said it not Angela Barnes who is on it all the time the younger one it wasn't really that funny but I enjoyed it even though the others didn't really react
This show has been a part of my life since I was 11. In the early days I may not have been able to understand half of the jokes, but nevertheless I was always roaring with laughter. Hugh and Dara have been the backbone of this show and I felt it was such a privilege to have met Hugh a few years ago just by lucky chance. I will miss this show terribly and I was gutted to hear they are cancelling it even though it is still going strong and similar shows like Have I Got News For You (also good) are still airing (why can't MTW continue for 30 years?). But hey ho maybe they'll bring back (I hope they will) and maybe Dave will pick it up. BBC might not want the show anymore but it is still worth putting on TV when it has been the starting point of many brilliant comedians' careers. We shall miss you Mock the Week.
I'm a Britin living in Germany, and I've loved watching Mock The Week with the good old British humour. You've helped me through many lonely times, now that I can't get to come home because of Covid and health issues. But I wish Dara all the very best for the future...and all the rest of you , of course. God Bless, and take care. Loving wishes from a 66 year young fan xx
Ah Rhys you'll always be our little victorian chimney sweep 😁 Great show guys , you'll all be sadly missed 😢 bring back Frankie Boyle for the last show 🤓
This show was the only thing that kept me laughing through some tough times, I’m still not quite believing they won’t find a new home. So unfair when they cancel something that’s actually good, with tons of international fans. 😢
As someone who has to put up with the awful sludge that is Canadian TV I rely on the British shows on youtube to get me through. I will miss this show a lot. Goodbye and thanks to everyone involved.
Truly amazing show. All good things must come to an end . Hope they reprise Dara in a new format inviting incredible gals and guys to Take it away!......
the world leader bus driver bit was hilarious, though it did make me seriously wonder that if for an isolated task like that, they just replace the usual driver with one of their own secret service agents or something. if all that it is is driving a pre-set route.
Even though I’ve known that Mock the Week was canceled for a long time, and I’ve watched most of the last season, I couldn’t get through this first episode the first time. So I’m watching it all the way through this time and as soon as Dara mentioned it was the last season, I had to stop myself from crying. 😢❤ Again. I’m really gonna miss this show.
So the executives at the BBC, who over the last few years have had more connections and donor relationships with the conservative party, then I would consider to be healthy, have cancelled late night mash and now mock the week to make room for new programs. Well folks get ready for remakes of 'Terry and June' and 'To the manor born'
I'm so upset this show is coming to an end. It's also crazy how over the years Mock The Week has mocked the news...... Now the news is mocking itself into oblivion.
