I want to mod my sharpfire very badly, if I were to put an OMW 5KG retaliator spring would it's performance be somewhat on par with basic elite blasters on the market? I want to up the spring and nothing else and maybe paint the trigger orange and tell people I got a orange trigger sharpfire.
thnx, i am new to modding nerf guns, and this video is really nice, it is very simple and straight forward, which helps a lot, and is not too lengthy that it gets boring. thnx
I actually had it left over from when I brassed my first longshot over two years ago. I'll be using 9/16 brass for the barrel and 17/32 for the breech. I ordered it from this site: brodak.com/building-supplies/metals/round-brass-tubing.html
The orange tip piece on mine won’t come off. So I can’t open it fully. Any suggestions? I’ll point out what I tried as you suggest. And yes, I tried to pry it forward.
It sounds like it may have been solvent welded in place. Boil some water in a kettle and carefully and slowly pour it onto the connection point. Use a knife blade to try and get underneath the seam and hopefully you'll be able to pry it off from there.
Yep! You're definitely able to do that! I'd still recommend plugging that air release hole with some glue or epoxy, but other than that it should function just fine with only a stronger spring.
The way it's set up, the catch and trigger are one piece. You might need to upgrade it but I don't believe it's necessary to function, you might still have catch reliability issues at that spring weight regardless but it should work fine from what I've found
Yes, you'll have to shorten the 9/16 brass a bit so that it doesn't protrude from the barrel extension, but the internals are identical otherwise, so it will work fine.
Thanks for the video. Could you make a trouble shooting video for reasons why the nerf gun might not shoot as well one you put it back together and why it might be louder than before?
You tell me now... lol I tried it and it broke the catch. It's OK tho I got another one and beffed up the spring by intertwining the spring from my broken one.
the Sharpfire is my favorite Nerf gun... it also was my first with the Jolt and I've modified them bolt and they would destroy people in a Nerf war. Only thing is... I have anxiety and I don't like to have social interactions so I wouldn't go to one.
Hey Jay Nerf, where can I get silicone grease for cheap besides online, can I get it from Home Depot? I also wanted to ask, what is your favorite nerf gun and modded nerf gun?
You don’t need to take off the top 4 screws for the spring unless Your little brother shoved slime in it and tried shooting slime (ps don’t do it because it makes the distance it shoots drastically low to at least 2-5 feet
This would be a direct plunger blaster. The easiest way to tell the difference is to determine which part moves. If the plunger head moves back and forth like a piston, it's direct plunger. If the walls around the head move, it's reverse. Some examples of the reverse plunger system would be a lot of the old N Strike blasters such as the maverick, Alpha Trooper, and Recon to name a few.
I’m sorry dude but I’m unsure how to remove the orange barrel I think I glued it on because it fell off the first time I can’t remember but I kind of need help
The alpha trooper spring is the perfect size for this gun, at that spring on top of the stock spring and i got a good 85 foot range with the A.R. removal and almost 120 feet with the brass breech.
Thanks for the video from Germany! The Nerf Sharpfire of my 9-year old son was not working anymore so he un-screwed the Nerf and had no idea how to repair it and get it together again. With this video I was able to repair it - but I haven't modified it.
I'm glad to hear this video helped you out! For younger kids, modifications aren't always necessary. But opening up your first Nerf blaster can bring the tinkerer inside to life, so don't be surprised if either you or your son end up getting into the hobby! Happy nerfing :)
Wait, if all I'm trying to do is remove the air restrictor (cuz apparently that makes the gun stronger) do i have to drill the peg out. This is also my first time modding a Nerf Gun.
Sadly I do not, however I'm sure there's a good screen out on google of sharpfire internals, or you might be able to see everything if you pause the video once I open the blaster
I mean, I suppose you could. But it would be a much smarter idea to invest in something like an upgraded spring. Really the only way I could see the penny mod even working would be to put it on the inside of the plunger head which would potentially damage the rest of the blaster due to the weightiness of the plunger head. You're just better off upping the spring power.
The dart tooth is what helps the darts slide into the breech as you push it forward. It holds the dart in place until the breech is fully closed so it doesn't just get pushed out of the end of the barrel.
when i slide mine forward the dart stays in the cylinder it doesnt go that forward? reason i ask is cause the tip on the grey tube that hits the mechanism on dart tooth for it to go down broke. while i was drillin hole in back lol
Well then you'll just have to push the darts all the way back before you close the breech. It's not a huge deal with the Sharpfire, but with clip-fed blasters, it's a definite necessity.
oh im sure... thanks tho man your video was awesome... another mess up i did lol i attatched the grey slider and re screwed it with the breach tube slid back. and didn't realize that the square little peg above where i broke the piece that hits the tooth had to be towars the front and fitted into the little half pieces when you re screw the prime halfs. lol i fired it once after and it broke the square peg right off. i had to un screw both parts. super glue peg back on and to the inside where it was supposed to be. cause i could no longer prime cause the barrel stayed forward. lol kind of hard to explain.
