Loved this! Always curious about different ways to customize my gear and have often times found searching for fun ( even just cosmetic ) changes can be very tiresome in the swaths of junk that is also out there.
Love your Channel Bob but I never watched your emulator videos since I didn't know what it was I got my self a samsung s23 and emulated some games mario sunshine mario party and love it now I can relate with emulators LOL
I've had my prusa mini+ for 2 years now! Ran almost 24/7 with minimal issues. Enclosed it and it runs nylons with ease now. Great content and video dude!
For the Miyoo Mini Plus I ordered the Magnetron case. I didn't want a case that added much bulk, I didn't want for it to have space for anything other than the system itself. But it might take 1-2 more weeks before I get it. From what I've seen it seems to be the case that adds the least amount of bulk while still fully covering/enclosing the system. Just mentioned it in case anyone else wants kind of a minimalist case for it (and yes there's some soft material inside as well so the screen won't get scratched up). Also I have the black colour of the Plus and I love it. Not sure how anyone could hate it. Looks slick.
The Analogue pocket doesnt seem to be designed too well. The games stick out way too far, the back scuffs with carts and the usb port gets scratched if you use the dock. Even if youre very careful.
I have added the "better" back buttons to my RG35XX, but they are actually terrible, at least for me. Because of the differently shaped buttins, the fingers have to press more downwards than towards the user, compared to the original button. And as there's nothing preventing the handheld from slipping downwards between for fingers when you press down, it simply does do so. There's no comfortable stance to push against this, besides angling the small fingers inwards and have them lay on the lower edge of the RG35XX, but that's very bothersome and annoying to do. Maybe adding some grip tape to the sides of the RG will help, so I will try this next ..
Hey, Josh from PartTimeCAD here, thanks for the shoutout and reviewing some of my stuff! The retro handheld community is great and it's such a blast seeing what everyone comes up with, between custom firmware and mods and accessories.
Is it me or has he only been talking about handheld emulators this year? He may talk other things but it's usually handheld emulators videos back to back. This is just something I've notice.
Hmm, I actually got to know his channel specifically because of handheld emulators - didn't know he ever made videos about something else. I'd be totally okay if his channel was completely about handheld emulators, he truly excels at it.
Of his 14 videos this year, only 4 have been about handheld emulators; this video, the Miyoo Mini PLUS video, the RG35XX video, and the Retroid Pocket video. The others have been about modding a DS, making a Steam Deck home arcade, Joy-Con Drift, DualSense VS Elite Controllers, NSO, the Razer Edge (which can be used for emulation but is more a Steam Deck competitor), PSVR 2, GameCube Joy-Cons, games he's excited about, and the 3DS eShop.
@@godminnette2 my mistake. I forgot to add for this year and previous. I kinda started to pick up his trends of handheld emulators at around the end of last year.
You aren’t joking about the transparent purple plastic being fragile… my rg35xx grew a crack across the front of the shell. All I did was unbox it and plug it in to charge 😂
Your channel is so awesome and has done so much to teach me all the cool stuff I want to learn about the world of emulators. Thanks for being so helpful!
I absolutely love that clip shield for the RP3+ and printed a couple of them myself. There is a decent file out there for a grip that you can download and print, I'll happily come back with the link after I get home!
I got the clickiess back into the modded L2 and R2 buttons on my miyoo mini by adding a bit of tape under them so that they fit more snug. Took a while to get it right but they feel great now.
Would be super interested to see what dock customizations there are for these devices. I would absolutely love to have a pocketable handheld that I can also play on my monitor with a 8bitdo controller.
As someone whose fingers are too long to comfortably sit on the R1 and L1 buttons, I remap the R2 and L2 to also be R1 and L1. The better buttons for the RG35XX makes hitting the R2 and L2 much easier and less uncomfortable. For anyone that does this I HIGHLY recommend them, they made this already amazing device even better for me.
I got the Sakura holographic analogue logo, and the carbon fiber camo front decal, plus the carbon fiber camo cartridge slot decal. I also got the bottom cover decal from Sakura, and the 3D printed cartridge cover I think also from Sakura. All of them are excellent.
Very sweet and considerate of you to carry those stickers . I might never accost you myself but it's nice to know that it'll be pleasant for anyone who does. 😊
Great vid, Bob. Odd question but have you heard of anywhere that's still selling the gba cartridge extender so you can play boktai on the analogue pocket?
the grip case is out for the plus now too. there was a v1 and v2 for the mini..one for the og triggers, one for the better buttons triggers. theres a few other plus cases out now too. its a shame about the break, because the rg35xx trigger ones are great. the 353V ones are the best imo.
I got my 3d printer 2 months ago and my Miyoo Mini Plus 1 week ago. Needless to say I've been printing stuff for it 😅. PartTimeCAD case is my favorite so far.
I have a kitted out RG35XX with the exact same 3D printed triggers just like yours. I actually like those triggers a lot and haven't hadn't any issues with them. Found myself a nice 3D printed front cover similar to yours on Etsy as well. I usually keep my 35XX on me in my satchel and I just noticed today that one of the clips broke because I probably bumped into something and didn't have a back cover on. Thankfully it was relatively easy to fix with some super glue 😅
Another interesting mod I think could be mentioned are people using rit dyemore to dye their miyoo mini shells. A bottle is relatively cheap (under $10) but the trade-off is more labor on your part. Maybe a potential future project for you? 😉
Great video!! I picked up a grip and the L and R buttons for the Miyoo mini I think they work great since i do try to play some street fighter games. 👍👍
Ordered a White Miyoo Mini Plus from KeepRetro using your link, Hope I haven't been Scammed :D I've been sat in bed for the past few days going insane wishing I could play Mega Drive, Snes, Nes, GBA, GBC ect ect games on an all in one device, And after lots of research it came down to Miyoo Mini Plus or the RG35XX Although the RG35XX looks very nice / very clean where the ports line up with the shell, Everyone raves about how easy the Miyoo Mini Plus is. I briefly looked at the RG505 and the AYN Odin but they were much too far out of what I'd be happy to spend for a bed side emulator I may as well buy a Steam Deck so I can play my Steam Games as well as have emulators. So I settled for the Miyoo Mini Plus, I'm excited for it to arrive, I just got sick of playing brain dead crap on my android phone that aren't even proper games, I want to play proper real video games that people worked hard on ! Not money making shill crap.
Huge added benefit of word “bug” is it’s a very easy early word for babies. I bet it’s one of the first 50 words most English-speaking babies learn to say “properly”
Great idea on the slim cover for the miyoo mini! I have the case that came with my rg35xx but its a thick boi and while it does a great job of protecting the rg when not in use it won't fit in my jeans pocket so I havent really been able to bring it with me much.
Ths was very interestting as I both own a 3d printer as wel as having just ordered an Anbernic 353V (the 35xx was out of stck everywhere I looked). Quick question though, just for the retro thing of it all. Do you think it would be possible to sideload Winamp onto it? not really for any practical reason except I think it would be cool with the atomic purple gameboy style and then running winamp to play music :D
Great stuff! Always been interested with 3D printed accessories but just worried about microscratches where it comes in contact with the device (given it is still hard plastic).
I broke mine shoulder clips on the RG353v and I keep asking anbernic if I can buy a replacement shell but they just tell me there's no stock for them and its a quite expensive handheld so I'm a little salty.
I got the rg35xx better buttons and i thought i surely have smaller hands i wont break the back button holder notch, but i did. I thought i was better than Bob but i wasnt at least not in this. Glad he got them on without breaking them. Be very careful rg35xx owners.
"If somebody accosts me on the street I can give them a sticker" that imagery is hilarious to me 😂 you're just walking down the street enjoying the day and a fan sees you and gets excited and says hi and you just scream in terror and start pelting them with stickers
I ended up breaking the screen on my game boy color wish I had it to replace the screen. I don't know what happened to my game boy pocket which had even more use. I do somehow have half the game boy games I had.
Man I spent like 6 hours making a little felt case like that on Adderall. I made it from an ipod classic. It was the perfect size to hold some cigarettes and a lighter. Lost that bitch the next night.
