Figured I'd open up the X-Shot Pro Longshot and just see what i could throw in it to make it better. Here are the results. Blaster: www.target.com... Spring: outofdarts.com... Barrel: www.frontlinef...
You saved my ass! I took this thing apart, put it back together again and discovered I had two left over screws, Ikea style, I couldn't for the life of find a home for. I completely missed two hidden in the stock. Every other mod vid I found skipped right over the screws/opening, thanks!
So unless i'm mistaken, those two pegs at the front are a kind of quick release barrel/spring access, and the little screw on the inside you unscrew to slide out the prime assembly, can be accessed from the outside shell, meaning you can probably quickly throw in a spring upgrade if that's all you were after, though the front piece would still need dremeling to allow a longer barrel to pass through. I saw foamdemic has a replacement front assembly, which is probably what i'll get to make barrel and spring swapping easier. Nice vid!
I got mine to hit 290-300fps pretty consistently with all the available metal upgrades. My barrel is 450mm. My spring is an 18kg+something from my bin that fits perfectly around the barrel. The darts that can hit 300ish fps pretty consistently are the standard red DZ darts. The prime is too strong for me to do it one handed, so it isn't war practical, but it's just for plinking so that's ok.
Awesome video and thanks for the links for the mods you made. I am going to have to do this to mine as well. I absolutely love this blaster and can't put it down!
@@spenceranderson4045 just a 14in, the stock one is 13.5, so not much longer. It was slight chambered on the side facing in. I ordered an 18in tho, so will do another vid when that comes in
Hi there. I have found that the ratchet mech lever doesn't need to be removed by snips. The orange rod is joined in the middle by a screw. Take it out the blaster turn it over and take out screw to slide the ratchet off.
Yeah, but not everyone has basic mechanical problem solving skills and would rather take the caveman option. Either is valid; homo erectis with a rock or homo sapian with a toolbox...heh heh
Internally, this thing is pretty solid. Once you remember the TINY little arm that pushes on the dart ISNT a load-bearing part, it's rather solid, like most of x-xhots offerings. If only they'd beef up the shells.....
@@wongyewxuan3880 A LOT!. I've ordered on from Frontline Foam, but I can tell you, practically everyone in the UK hobby has bought one of these, so there'd be a huge demand for metal PT's/internals. (We cant easily get AF/Dartzone over here, so we all jumped on this!)
Sick mod! Can't wait to get mine. Also ordered a Kuryaka barrel and an sf25. Gonna get the Foamdemic collet, a new grip, and gotta find a good PT replacement.
@MrGimbles1 was thinking just a Worker vertical one. I have a Caliburn AFG on my Lynx though and love how that feels so maybe that too. Depends how the Longshot feels if it's any similar.
Is the blaster's grip compatible with AR grips? Could you test if it works with angled talon mags? Those are the mags I use on my retalicon and it would be good if both blasters could share the same mags. thanks GimsMods Great content as usual!!
@@MrGimbles1 thats what people said until they saw the insanity line, "oh i may buy one, i dont have much money now" well when you buy 2 of the same 30 dollar blasters it adds up 😉
Just a question; I keep seeing option for the barrel chambered and plain/unchambered, which one should it be? Should I still get the one linked or the one the site just put up for the longshot
I know this is a month late, but it does not require a chambered barrel. The dart pusher does not enter the barrel, so the barrel doesn't require any additional room internally to accommodate it. A chambered barrel isn't going to be a problem if it's all you can find, but an unchambered is optimal.
@MrGimbles1 Oh, no doubt. I'm so glad the Longshot is proving itself to be such a good platform to work from. With some of the nice barrels popping in and out of availability, I just wanted to clarify the blaster can utilize both chambered and unchambered barrels to open up more options for modding.
It's not actually that complicated. The plunger tube faces backwards, and there are ports that let the air flow into the barrel, behind the dart, which is pushed into the barrel by a pusher which has similar ports nto. The spring is compressed by the backwards motion of the priming grip, whihc pulls the plunger and compressed spring forwards when you return it forwards. then you pull the trigger, the plunger is released, the air is compressed and the dart comes out. Like I said; SIMPLE (yeah, right).
Thanks for the reply. Do you know of anyone who sells moding parts for this in England as all the sites to sell them seem to be usa based and shipping is more than the gun itself
The one I picked up is hitting 150 consistently out of the box so maybe there is a slight quality control issue as the reviews for this blaster seem all over the place. Edit: 150 with worker gen 3s
@@MasterKydis if you can handle the stock spring, you don't have to use too much more force for the k25, but, can always swap back if it becomes too difficult
@@MasterKydis With the stock spring the prime is much smoother than a Nexus Pro and easier as well. With a K25 cut to about a 1/4 inch longer than the stock spring (with flattened ends) the prime is no more difficult than a stock Nexus Pro, and it hits much harder.
I know the price point is great, but im just not on the hype for this. It seems like flimsy plastic and not very consistent. I also am not looking to hit people with 250 fps darts. Im glad the options are out there, but there are other options out there for me.
It's actually really strong, and a friend has it hitting a consistent 271 with a new barrel and spring, even if you don't mod it. It hits 130s pretty consistently and it's pretty dang accurate.
