I have a 29 coupe with fenders , and a 9" 57 ranchero rear end 57" wide , after watching your video i am pulling it out and are going to do the same as what your doing , I hope I have as much luck as you !! cant wait till your next video. It's on jack stands just a bare housing . planing on marking center line to reline after cutting , using a 3" pipe cuter to mark if not cut tubes , and chuck the axles up in the Lethe to cut off 1/2 inch with a parting tool . Looking at the witness marks on the splines mine are not quite a 1/2 inch but very close .

You should be fine taking out a 1/2" each side. So far the ones I have done have worked good with no issues. My next video should be out next week. Good luck with cutting your housing and axles. Let me no how it works out. Take it easy. Thanks for watching and commenting !!!

Man, I would have had gear oil everywhere! Looking forward to seeing your technique, as far as how you line the tubes back up.

I would rather have 8" rims. After I cut the rearend I have plenty of clearance with the 8" rims. Thanks for watching!!

@@fullmoonhotrods 8in rims are a little wide for those size tires, they are all ballooned out

what did the axle flange to axle flange measurement end up being?

Did the size 56" rear end that you use come from a standard that old hotrodders used, or is it because of the size of your rear tires? I've been watching from step 1 of this build and wish I had done this when I was younger. I'm 70 now and just waited too long. Love the way you build most of your own brackets and stuff!

I built a 1930 Model A Roadster pickup years ago and did a lot of measuring with reared width and rim back spacing and tire sizes and it just works for me and I like the look how the tire fits the fenders. Thank you for watching and commenting. 70 years young you can still do it. I like fabricating as much as I can saves money and makes it my own. To me that is what Hot Rodding is about
