Hey Paul, what a beautiful time at the museum. I'm really interested in the shay model A replica. It looks like the engine is a Pinto 2.0 ltr. I drove a 1970 pinto when they first came out. Paid less than $2K for it. Full price at the curb. I would shift it when it would go any faster. Ran the "H" out of it. Traded it in a Pinto wagon in 1973 for more room. Biggest mistake I made was getting with an automatic tranny. Would not get out of it's own way. They just hadn't gotten the EPA values right yet. Timing was WAY down, should've been more advanced, fuel was not right and it just ran bad. I was constantly adjusting things.Never really got it just right.

Interesting how it is the same DNA as a Model T that started it all; an inline 4, and all the way to the more modern inline 4 Ecoboosts we have nowadays. I had a 2015 Ford Fusion that I adored (talk about a beautiful car design) with a 2.0 Ecoboost which I substituted for a Lincoln MKC with a 2.3 inline 4 Ecoboost. Fun to see the modern FoMoCo motors going full circle to the earliest days.

We were there, and this video captured Model A Days and The Gilmore Museum as well as being there. The phone company truck stops me every time. My maternal grandfather worked for Ma Bell starting in the 1920s, trucks like that were contemporary to his early work there. While my wife and I were having lunch at the Diner we overheard another couple comment as you drove by, "They get treated like royalty here, and deservedly so". And I'm delighted to see younger people involved in this hobby, a special thanks to the ambassadors who are making that possible. God Bless, have a great week ~ Chuck

My Wife and i brought our 1930 roadster with a rumble seat this year on a trailer for sale. We were surprised that more people didn't look at it. We will be heading there every year. Been going to model A days since 2019. Was nice seeing you and your wife there. Hopefully you keep coming back .

I'd like to see them offer for an additional $50-100 donation a second plaque on a piece of "Ford wood" for your desk. Ford sourced the wood for their Model A bodies from company-owned forests in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

I am in love with the Gilmore, have to go back really soon. The young kids working on the model A with some authority is a wonderful sight - more impressive than the telephone truck to me. I think Edison loved his model T and had to be talked into taking the Model A. You probably know the story better than I. These cars (model A fords) don't show their remarkable beauty and proportions on Camera, they have to be seen. The materials and craftsmanship are excellent and no plastic ! Cheers from Taos -

Hey Paul! You looked like a kid in a candy store when you were racing that Model A. That looked like a lot of fun. Even with the bugs in your mouth and all. I remember you at that Museum last time as well. Looks like it is going to grow as well. That is great. Looks like something for everyone in the family at this place. I love how they started the car that the high school brought in. I am sure those kids will never forget it. Also the First Start is a great idea. Where does the line form? I saw a demo of the Turbine at our local shopping center when I was a kid. When Harrah's downsized a friend brought their display Turbine to the guy that bought it in SoCal. He was going to install it in a 1966 Dodge Charger which Chrysler had designed to be the production Turbine car.

I'd love to build a Speedster! I promise NOT to strip an original car to make it. I think that a car that came out as a roadster, should remain a roadster. There are lots of incomplete A's out there or parts that can put a pile of pieces back on the road. I'm not into eating bugs, so there will be a windshield on mine! They're a hoot for sure! This trip to the Gilmore is a treat for those that can't make it this year. One thing for sure, I know my first trip to "The Gilmore" will be well worthwhile! Safe travels.😊

This was so much fun! Loved the kids’ shop class and their start up. They should be feeling pretty good about themselves and it looks like they’re doing a good job with that car. Would be great to see it completed. Also about the Speedster would be interesting to find out what type of mods they do to it to make it go faster.

I always wanted the cars from the 1965 movie, The Great Race. Professor Fates' car would be my first pick, the Hannibal 8, only 4 were made for the movie. Starring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, Peter Falk, and Natalie Wood.

I've wondered how many #1s there are. The "official" Ford photos show the first car coming down the line as a Tudor. The "official" Ford photo of the #1 that Henry stamped is well centered. The #1 on the Edison car is in a different spot on the pad and the pad does not show a casting flaw that is in the one Henry stamped. The story of swapping bodies for Edison doesn't make sense when it would be cheaper and easier just to stamp *A1* on an engine and install it in the body style Edison wanted.

Not quite I'd argue the jelly bean styling of the majority of "daily transportation" cars is dictated by the EPA mandate for certain MPG ratings. Right down to no drip rails, gas cap covers, etc.
