That is something you rarely see in model railroading, plus its a great way to store cars you aren't using much while still keeping operations prototypical!

I've got cars stored in yards, sidings and wherever I can park them. If I need a certain one, I just do the boxcar shuffle and pull it out.

Theres a fairly decent sized car storage yard right next to the main road in my home town used by a factory that makes plastic beeds for laundry detergent.

I use this on my n scale layout, for bethlehem, steel, ore cars, gons, flats, etc in a three track yard, store their until ship, and /or until used, such as the ore cars. good one it is easy and requires no buildings.

At 16 seconds, i can see what looks like a jumping spider next to the tracks. Does anyone else have these little dudes on there layouts, as on my layout there's one that lives on one of my locos, and when ever I run that loco the same jumping spider jumps off the train half way round and then makes its way back to where the loco is sat when not in use 😂😂

I enjoy your videos like this one. Please consider a video on couplers and coupling. What coupler brands work together? How do I couple and uncouple? For example, I just got an Atlas N GP40-2 loco which has Accumate couplers. Do I need to get rolling stock with Accumate couplers or will other couplers work, too. If so, what other couplers?

I'm working on planning an N scale layout, small to door sized, id like to be able to have continuous run while working a second engine to move cars around and do basic "operations" , and I'd like to have at least one part of the layout serve as an inglenook puzzle... Do you think this is possible on 3x5 ft, or should I go ahead and do the hollow core door? I dont want the "spaghetti bowl" feel to it and do want to do a decent bit of scenery. Trying to use this project as a test to see if the permanent build in my hobby room will be N scale or if i will stick to HO scale...not sure i want the smaller size , more stuff fits in a space, amd runs seem longer, but i think as i get older the larger size might be better to handle, uncouple, do painting/detailing, etc... Let me know if you'd be willing to help me develop the track plan, or if you can recommend where i can find help without it costing a lot to come up with a design. Thanks again for your videos!

I like this video it gives me a lot of new ideas. I worked in the plastics industry for many years. Sometimes end users of plastic pellets have a hopper car staged at their plant and pulled resin from it as needed instead of transfering the plastic Pellets (resin) to an inhouse storage area.
