Great video, agree the Class 20 is excellent, its a toss up between the 24 and 20 for my best for 2021. My class 47 is caught in customs in Paris. Keep up the great work in 2022.

Hi Dave really enjoyed your top Ten. I found them all really good choices but the class 20 really does have the edge over the other selected 9. Thank you for keeping us entertained this year. I have really enjoyed watching your layout progress and also your reviews. Thank you also providing me advice on wiring my point motors earlier this year it really did resolve my issues. I wish you and your family a happy new year and look forward to watching your channel through 2022.

Like your top 10, Dave. Re the APT if Hornby get the tilt correct and not like their previous attempts with the earlier APT and Pendolino then yes it will be worth it, but until the train packs arrive hopefully in January we won’t know.

Always enjoy your videos Dave. Liked your reasoning for your top 10. I concentrate on the steam era and splashed some cash on the Hornby “Sir Winston Churchill “ which I have wanted forever, the Cock o’ the North, which caught my eye on a Barrie Davis video earlier this month and my wife bought me a “Flying Scotsman “ for Christmas. Can’t choose between the 3 of them for best to worst so how you make your choices is fascinating. Thanks for sharing your progress, all the best for 2022. Look forward to seeing more. Roy.

I was saddened not to get my APT for Christmas so like you the coaches and extra power car are waiting for the day I can run them and see how well they work. I got a class 24 Experiment and am happy with that, I found it only picked up of one axle on each bogie so had to sort the pickups out. Poor quality control again. Next the class 46. That runs OK but like the class 40 only has pickups on 4 axles and they are the ones which coincide with dead frogs Not a problem for you. My solution will be to add an extra pair so it has 6 axle pickups. For my steam hauled railtours I got the Hornby City of Leicester limited edition A lovely model and it runs well, I am very pleased with that and finally a pair of class 20's with sound, and like you I think my best model of the year, I got both for about the same as I would of paid for a class 47 so as well as being a better model improvement wise it was also more value for my money. Have a Happy healthy New Year Best wishes.

Good mix for your top 10 and thanks for all the hard work and great videos throughout the year. Due to the skyrocketing prices I was very picky with my purchases and been very happy with them all, including Bachmann 117, Accurascale British Steel JSAs, Dapol Class 68, a rake of Bachmann Mk1s in maroon, a Hornby B17 in LNER apple green. My layout now at the stage where I’m able to enjoy running trains and been making good use of all my stock - plenty of the old ones too. All the best for 2022, Cheers, Colin.

I hummed and hawed as I ideally wanted Scottish 117 or a 116, which was what was based at Hamilton shed. £220 for the BR blue in the TMC summer sale too good to ignore. Really impressive model and I love it.

Excellent top 10 Dave. I'm struggling to have a top 10 this year as quite a few of my pre orders have not yet made it. 2022 could well be a bumper year. My new class 68s from dapol have been my best / favourite new Arrivals followed closely by the accurascale steel coil carrier's. Happy New year Dave and atb for 2022 cheers Andy

Fantastic video Dave, really enjoyed watching. I for one am surprised that you have picked the 20 as top model of the year, but I must say that’s it’s my favourite too. Two DRS twenties have been adde to my fleet, the cab interior is fantastic along with the overall shape. Sound has yet to be added to mine, but the 20 is one of my favourite sounding diesel locos, so that will be a task for 2022. Did you pick up a Heljan 86 this past year? (I can’t remember) Another fine runner here at Colwich. Generally it’s been a great year for rolling stock too, for me Accurascale set the level really high, as of yet I don’t own anything from Cavlex. Bachmann really seem to be “on it” with their new releases, just a pity about some of the pricing. Anyway all the best for the new year Stay safe Cheers John b😷☣️

The class 1P from Bachmann is my model of the year that ran on the S&D, but that is completely out of time for your layout. I was surprised the class 47 was not No.1 but I completely agree with your reasoning. The APT looks a real disappointment and I expected better from Hornby. Thank you for some wonderful videos in 2021 and I look forward to more next year. Happy New Year!

Great top ten, had a sneaky suspicion you would have the Class 20 at the top, and deservedly so, bought a couple of them this year also albeit in modern liveries. The KUAs were a must purchase for me also, never been off the layout since I bought them topped and tailed with a couple of Dapol 68s. The 47 looks great, but don't think I will be buying any of them just yet, will wait and see how the new Heljan re-tooled model looks. Keep up the good work, all the best for the coming year..

Hi Dave, that’s a great layout you’ve got there, but how do the top tracks access the station area. I think I’ve seen away from the station via a tunnel upto the depot area (north bound) but I can’t seem to see away how the south bound tracks gain access to the lower level, I’ve just binge watched your videos and EJ, as the wife watching a brain dead box set on tv Keep up the excellent work and your eye for detail

Great video Dave and a great variety of products there, I really like your test car 10, that is something I may try in the future. Some great items for me this year were and I only have 7 of them: 1 KR models GT3 from the second production run, I have always liked the look of the real locomotive since i saw a photo of the prototype and having missed out on the first run of the model I pre ordered one when KR said they were doing a second production run, finally decided the model 2 days before Christmas and it is definitely a model that I am very happy with, it runs great and looks amazing, KR models have done a brilliant job on recreating this locomotive in OO gauge. 2 Bachman class 70 freightliner, one of Bachmann’s best models and I’m one of the few who really like the look of the 70s, it was bought from a small shop for £95 and it is in great condition, it is also a great runner and for me it was perfect in the freightliner livery. 3 Bachmann class 40 disc head code old tooling, another great model from bachmann that was found in a great shop for only £72, a great purchase 4 Hattons class 66, this was quite a good model as it had been reduced to £119 and was originally bought as I was going to renumber and rename it but in the end I decided to keep it as it was, it was also good for me because I have had only one axle box fall off it but it has been glued back in and I haven’t had any problems with mine, it also runs really well 5 A Hornby mk1 brake coach in intercity with white roof, this was good because it is one of my favourite mk1 liveries and hopefully if more coaches are going to be released in this colour scheme I intend to create one of the intercity charter trains. 6 4 Lima car transporter wagons, these were good because it finally gave me some modern style wagons for my freight locomotives to pull instead of putting private owner wagons behind them. 7 An old Dapol class 150, this was a good model because after getting it home and giving it a thorough service and clean it now runs great and it was again a fairly good purchase only costing £60, it is also in a nice provincial livery although I think it isn’t original as it has had Scotrail added to it and from looking at pictures I haven’t seen a Scotrail 150 in OO made by dapol so it makes this a unique as there is likely to not be any other ones out there. Hope you have a great new year Dave.

I remember when Oxford announced the MK 3 coach. I got in touch because at that time I had 120 of them. I said that they would have to have lights for me to change all my Hornby coaches. Plus there is so many they have not done or not done enough. The main one being Chiltern. I am stunned that they still have not given us more liveries that Hornby have not done. What are they doing and why haven't they done the test coach.
@DeanPark
@DeanPark 2 года назад
You’ll be lucky if you see them again!….Oxford were bought over by hornby this year. Another competitor model now swallowed up by hornby. We can only Help hornby update their mk3 using some aspects of the Oxford one. Plus Oxford got the intercity colours so wrong.
@maringarvanovic8011
@maringarvanovic8011 2 года назад
I've heard on some forums that Hornby will leave them alone. We shall see. I like the updated Hornby MK3s and have all the GWR ones they have done. I exchanged several e mails with them as they seemed interested in what was wanted and they seem to have dragged their heels and missed out. I haven't bought a single one.

Good reviews as always Dave. However there were a couple of errors regarding the Cavalex BBAs. Firstly they are available from several retailers in addition to KMS and trains 4U, Rails of Sheffield being one, with alternate numbers and decoration available. Secondly the first batch of BBAs delivered last year also catered for the squared oval buffers as well as the round versions. All of our BBAs are produced with the correct livery elements in the correct places and also the correct detailing such as oval buffers etc fitted to represent the running number of the wagon produced. Regards Cav
@DeanPark
@DeanPark 2 года назад
I knew someone would pick me up on the buffers…. I listened to it after the edit and knew it was not entirely clear. I thought the first 120 wagons had circular buffers and from then they were changed to non circular in subsequent batches delivered to BR. I knew the non circular buffers were available on some models in certain liveries in the first release. But I only got round buffers in the rail freight red. With regard to the retailers..I was aiming that comment at the exclusives I had come across (effectively advertised) that were in stock when I placed my order. Both the KMS and Trains4u ones were available. I did see that rails had them but their rail freight red ones are sold out. So not available for possible buyers watching this video. In addition, I am in no way advertising for the aforementioned retailers or indeed Cavalex (or any other brand mentioned in this video). I showcase what I collected and provide impartial feedback from a Modellers point of view. I say it, as I see it. I hope a balanced view. I like, where I can to support local (Kms are more local(ish) to me in scotland, the one retailer I’m aware of that stocks BBA). Hence my draw to them. Maybe I should get a script written for me lol. Or Hire a pro to do the voice over 😆 Cheers. Dave
@outonroad
@outonroad 2 года назад
@@DeanPark Haha yes it didn't come across as advertising in any way Dave, no need to worry, your voiceover is fine! Most of the RF ones in the first batch were round buffers but wagon 910204 had oval ones as well as one of the exclusive RF with no RF logo wagons 910183. In all there were 7 running number variations for RF in the first batch and 8 further numbers in RF for the second batch, of course Rails also has there exclusive metals black twin packs if you fancy something a bit different.

I’d agree with the BACHMANN class 20. It’s a cracking model and came out before the most recent price rises. Like a lot of people I am looking at the new class 47 and cant square the circle. It’s pricing above continental prices and feels a stretch when DAPOL and Accurascale appear to be pitching comparable future products at a lower price

The Hornby mk3 DVT, that was awful! Light bleed, errors in livery and just a truly crap model and they wanted £75 for it!. The model was so bad in fact that it went back! Put the £75 that I’d saved towards the class 20! The recent HST with buffers wasn’t great either. Falcon grey totally wrong shade. Partly ruins an otherwise lovely model.
