Your photography/video skills are awesome. It shows so clearly how you work and that is super helpful. There are quite a few good ship model builders on youtube that are very skilled and that I really like, but when it comes to showing the nitty gritty details in the build process you are no.1 Olha. Great video, as usual! When tapering the masts you might use a simple jig, with a 'V' groove and a stopper block at one end, that holds the mast for you so that you have two hands free for using a blade, a planer, or a sanding block.
That is again a real joy to watch you work Olha !! Your skills are showing again, when I see with how much ease you do it !! I know it is not the first time but still great to watch it coming to life and looking like the real thing :-)
Another great video Ohla! Consider keeping a small paintbrush in some water on your work surface. Instead of using the chisel for cleanup of squeezed glue a dampened paintbrush does a phenomenal job and gets into all the cracks the chisel can't reach.
Thank you! I prefer to scrape off excess glue - because it prevents the glue from penetrating the wood fibers. This is very important if you use oil or other finishes, which will then "emphasize" all these traces of glue and the model will be dirty...

Have you ever tried putting the dowel in a drill to spin it while holding sandpaper on it to taper it it works well and makes it faster and easier. I can watch you do rigging over and over again it just fascinates the heck out of me you do such great work.
Thank you! I use this method too, but for smaller details, because it is very difficult to control the center on long masts. For some reason it is more convenient for me to operate with a scalpel, but it is probably a matter of practice...

Thank you! You need to look at a specific model, because each kit of the same manufacturer differs in quality! Today, new interesting manufacturers with good quality kits have appeared on the market, but I have not yet had to open a box with a clipper...

Thank you! I know only one manufacturer where all the details are laser cut and even masts and rails. This is "Ships of Pavel Nikitin". All other manufacturers - provide round dowels as in this video...
