These last two videos (Model training Pt 1 and 2) are the best on the subject I have ever seen on RU-vid. They don't only explain WHAT to do, but really gives the insight into HOW and especially WHY. Thank. You. So. Much!
I see now the big difference between a normal photographer and a truly great photographer. It's all in the details and communications, I learnt so much from this thank you.
Peter ! You are a master of explaining why and how you do the things do, and that is a very good talent, Thank you for all the amazing tips, and thank you for the awesome team you have.
Another great video! I've been photographing models for over twenty years and in two videos you've taught me things I never even considered before. Thank you!
You articulate so well what I try to get across to my models. I have to admit that I have parroted some of your words in hopes to streamline the learning curve and success ration while I am shooting. Thank you for spending the time on this. It is much appreciated!
Peter, these are some of the best tutorials I've ever seen! I've been shooting for years and looking for tools and ideas to work with models and your videos are spot on! 10X a lot!!!
I'm not a professional photographer, but I love great photos and it is such a pleasure to watch you work. The manner in which you communicate with the models is at another level, well done.
this is a MASTER CLASS in posing and working with models. WOW!!! So glad you touched on hands as that is number one challenge I hear from people and also previously didn't know how to direct. this was awesome!
It's awesome how much you're willing to teach people man... This video is a masterpiece! If i move out of Iran I will definitely take part in your cources❤️❤️ you're a genius!!
So much about the communication and the examples you give to think about. Changes and opens the model...fantastic work, thanks for this inside view !🙏🙏🙏
Can't wait to see Pt3 and 4. Your're doing great. Wrote down so many shortnotes to remind me, wow. And Abbey does also great. Beautiful girl, full of concentration and implementing your tips immediately without getting stressed or bored. Great to have such a talent in front of your lens.
I use a lot of these things that you have shown but I also have learned a lot as well. Really good!! In video part one, the moment you got her to relax at the camera, Stunning photos.. Well done!!
So appreciative of the effort put in by all to create this excellent video (again!). Abbey must have been very brave to work through Peter’s thorough, yet effortless and empathetic coaching. At 13:58, Peter said “There, there, there…”, and Abbey… well, watch the video closely to see the results. Just beautiful :) I said ‘closely’, because it’s packed with great insight! Thank you
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer It is super helpful. Being new in the game of model photography, I have struggled a bit with, un experienced models, and I feel there are a lot of great tips here.
hi Peter, i do not think your model knows how good she is and your sir are outstanding at making the model comfortable and that sir is a part of why u get excellent photos
Thank you so much for doing these amazingly informative and helpful videos, I'm learning so much every time I watch one. Looking forward to part 3 of this series. Well done!
Peter, you are relaxed and humorous. Windshield washer as an example. The models obviously enjoy working with you and Bec helps too I suspect. You must have thought long and hard about how to get the best out of each shoot. Impressive.
Thank you so much Edward, I really appreciate it. It's years of practice learning how to get models to model in the way that gets the best out of the shoot :)
Lots of things in here that i have never even given a thought too. Great educational and informative information for models and photographers alike. Many thanks and keep these coming please.
Another thing that i have found that works is asking models to wear their best underwear to a shoot. This has caused a few raised eyebrows but when i explain why it makes sense. Even for just a plain headshot it gives a sort of confidence that the model is good about herself. Even though the underwear will not be seen, they know they are wearing it and it makes them feel good which comes through in the photo's
Awesome, very informative - and a bit confrontational too, because I realize that the incidental shoot that didn't go as smooth as I wanted them to in the past, could have been saved by me communicating better. It really is a dance between model and photographer.
Exactly on your mark. Always talk to the model. Regularly. Get them talking, into it, part of the scene. Doesn't matter what you talk about. Just talk. And exactly. To get expressions bring up things for the expressions. Dogs, pets, boyfriend being a moron, parents not understanding, the beach is relaxing, Skydiving, seeing a snake, etc. By the way, Abbey is gorgeous.
strong and powerful on tiptoes and legs spread apart so she will be on the edge of tipping make the model change her whole face and body looks I love it peter I am learning so much from you. You are the best I seen especially in your style of fashion on constantly moving it flows perfectly.
She was a very robot model, she might work better with some wine, lol your so right about hands she used them way, way too much don’t. I know you might know Peter Hurley he rarely does hands, it’s all about the eyes and your standing on toes is so good and bring your mind somewhere is fantastic I’ve learned so much from you. Again that model face was stone, you really had to work her, but did a great job. I had a client once she said the last photographer asked she might be better if she drank a full bottle of wine before the shot. I knew than I had my work cut out for me. Do you do some critiques on Photos at all?
Thanks for the great videos. I noticed you move the camera up and down before making a photo and it made me curious why.... Is this because you want to set the focus first up with the face and eyes in the center ? (Asking because I was expecting the eye autofocus feature would be enough without moving the camera up and down.)
from tough and powerful to shy and timid. OMG, i SAW IT! you might not think its anything super spectacular but for ME to see it... wow if Abbey yelled across a bar to me and said "come over here and buy my a drink" id be there before "buy me a drink" faded into the rest of the ambient sounds. assuming of course i even heard her (old guy ears)... right after sitting down, you panned to the computer and i THINK i saw 256 images. how the devil do you pare that down to say 10-12? going searching for #3!
a lot of usefull tips, more interesting than technical aspects. My models will be grateffull for these tips, because the will feel better in a shooting.
In my opinion and according to many other photographers, chin should not be too high and not to be too down ;-) This is simple; and it's because it's simple that it's difficult ! Nice video.
Peter, Bec and models, thanks for the videos. Once borders open up and lockdowns end I hope you’ll have some face-to-face sessions. In the meantime I look forward to session 3 on posing. Any chance of doing something similar for taking photos of males? Thanks
I will reiterate some of the other comments when I say yes!! Not only do you say what you're doing but why you are doing it. If I know the why behind something it helps me learn so much faster and in turn when you know why you are doing something you can develop that into your own style. I look forward to all your videos.
You got some amazing pictures once you put out the stool. She was so uncomfortable standing. Seating helped to take her arms out of the picture and keep her from poisoning. That looking away shot was amazing at all levels. Too many models want to be sexy for man.
She seems to have no expression in the photos, but then she smiles and laughs when he is not taking photos and she looks amazing with such a beautiful smile. I'd rather see a photo of her smiling and laughing and showing her personality than the expressionless ones that were taken.
(All my comment have been made with all my respect to the professionals that have taken part in this video: Peter, Bec and Model) @Peter: many thanks for showing, once again, how to interact with a model, I actually think you should be teaching in a model agency, providing master class sessions. @Bec: many thanks for being behind the video camera and filming the artist and the model; please, don’t allow Peter to do the “Hi guys” at the beginning, you know much better how say it :) @Model: many thank for exposing yourself for educational purposes. I like your eyes at the time: 14:54.
All my friends are horribly camera shy. I can never get impromptu photos without pained expressions. I think some of Peter's suggestions would work to get more natural expressions.
I use 2 meter Cane,I no say any words, the models always move in way I want. "whack, slap, tap" Sometimes I "tut" or " ah tatataa" and the broken in model know.
