In this video, Jim Zim show us a nearly temporary garden railway layout in the backyard of the house in California. He runs the Amtrak passenger train lead by a General Electric Dash 8-40CW diesel locomotive #500, the Norfolk Southern Railway Honoring Our First Responders Train #911, and the Santa Fe Railway General Electric Dash 8-40CW diesel locomotive #868 from MTH Electric Trains pulling freight cars from different railways, the Santa Fe Super Chief passenger train lead by an EMD F7 diesel locomotive #202 from LGB and the red Christmas Coca Cola steam train manufactured by LGB. You can see the other trains are on the sidings when they are not running on the layout and you can also see the orange rerailer tool to help get the G scale model trains on to the G scale model train tracks.
I would like just to wish you safe travels on your big move Jim. Be healthy stay healthy. I have cancelled 2 up coming cruises with Norwegian in January and also in spring 2021. It nearly killed me. I have just retired like you. I have been waiting my life for this.
Yeah, it's frustrating right now to be a cruise fan! Once they come up with a vaccine for Covid-19, I think the cruise industry will be able to resume the good times again.

You still amaze me you set up these layouts and take them down as if they are as simple as an 8' figure 8 track I had as a kid. My first thought on this is your back yard looks like a well groomed golf course. Short cut grass and rolled with a 500 pound roller. Would be hard to do in my all rock back yard.😭
I just like how you did it Jim you did it very good.Also you should buy a other train set the tracks whatever you call it is a easy track with I think smaller trains models.

You could video it with the drone and your go pro. Plus you could make another video of all your diesels! That would be so cool!"

Im gonna have some model trains set up in my house soon but theyre the lionel g scale battery operated series ima gonna be making a video of them very soon i only have two trains at the moment but lots of track so wish me luck x3 in getting a coke cola engine soon as well and ill be posting it on my channel as well ^^ to share with everyone
I would never say never... but I certainly don't have any plans to do so. For me, the fun is in creating different layouts each time I run the trains. So, to get locked in to some permanent layout takes away one of the most fun parts for me. For the first year or two at least, I think I'll continue to just temporarily set the trains up somewhere... whether that's inside the house, outside on the patio, or both... run them for a few days and make a video... and then put them away again.
No, not a permanent one. For me, the fun is in creating a slightly different layout each time I run the trains. So, I won't make anything permanent... but I'm sure you'll see the trains going through the yard in quite a few videos.
Take a look at the video again, and freeze it exactly at the one minute mark. You can see a couple of small wires running right next to the edge of the grass. I use a 10 amp MRC Prodigy Elite power supply, with wifi control done via an Android tablet.
Im trying to take some of your model trains by breaking into the screen, but it doesnt work with the lcd screen. I would need to get an old crt tv to do it hopefully i can steal it through an old tv screen
