I have actually calculated those grundkörper drag figures wrong in the small picture:
First pictures value is 46%from wheels
Third picture value 61%
Fourth picture 61,5%

Mark it as: for tire testing so I know what the money is for.
Money will be used to buy more wheels and tires for the next tests.
Tall and narrow tires will lower your Model Y energy consumption 10%, similar savings can be had also for the Model 3.
Cars inside noise will be drastically lowered also, with narrower tires.

I’d like to sell the 21” Uberturbine set and get some 18” for a Y Performance

It would be good to see what the actual real life difference is in energy consumption and therefore range. 10% decrease in rolling resistance is great but it doesn't mean 10% more efficiency of the car overall

See my previous videos. 10% energy savings were measured in June tests. It's true that 10% lrr tires don't give that 10% more range. In next consumption tests savings should be around 12% for best setup. But those will come next year after the winter. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Iv_Jk086V6w.htmlsi=BtTAZX2B4PVAL8eT

I also cannot wait for the next tests. Currently there is over 10 cm of snow, but lets see if I get the airfield cleared from snow to make the tests happen next weekend.

Will 18x8” ET30 205/60/18 fit good on a Y Performance?
@TunekoLtd
@TunekoLtd 4 месяца назад
At the moment there is only a winter tire in the market in that 205/60r18 size. 18x8et30 sits 4mm more in to fender 205/60r18 tire outer edge is 15mm inwards 225/60r18 sits same place as oem sr model y tire outer edge. Check my other videos for more test details, more is coming also in the next days.

Very interesting. I would want a slightly taller tire just for ride comfort on bad roads. Currently have the stock Gemini wheels with 245/45/R19.

Our model Y,23 has low profile 19" tires. They sidewalls are easily slashed on curb stones. Would a high profile tire be less prone to sidewall damage? Thanks

Have you done any testing on model 3?

Not yet. But that 195/60r18 e primacy is quite optimal for model 3

Can you do a video on wheel weight and how it affects HIGHWAY efficiency? We all know lighter wheels help in the city. But I keep seeing a debate on light weight wheels either helping high speed or hurting it
@TunekoLtd
@TunekoLtd 10 месяцев назад
Picture from 50 seconds in this video has the data. 24kg weight saving from wheels and tires means only 0.3% difference in energy consumption at 100 km/h steady speed. So not important at all for cunsumption wise.
@PhaseSkater
@PhaseSkater 10 месяцев назад
@@TunekoLtdso wheel diameter is more important than weight for savings? It’s interesting to see the weight decrease still helps highway efficiency. So many people keep stating “ heavier wheel keep inertia up and makes it easier to maintain higher speeds “

Great that you are tweaking evs now. In the times i had a lupo 3l @ 3,57 l /100 km year round, but now Im working on the zoe. Summer setup with covers based om pvc adhesive on the alloys, also because my brakes got to rusty ha ha. Original on 195 primacy 4 but looking for e primacy as follow up, so i will follow your results for the vredestein and hankook. Have you also cosidered dunlop and toyo nanoenergy? My Winterset: on steel with nokian hiitapellita 185 and so called inox moondiscs. Car sound proofing with bitumen alu adhesive in all doors, which made media better sounding and car more silent .

For Zoe I would try 175/65R15 ecocontact 6. In general the ecocontact 6 should be better in real life consumption. The ePrimacys just have better rolling resistance in the rolls. Main reason why I use them in the tests is that you can buy them used really cheap as people buy winter tires in Germany. For some reason there is not so many sets available in ecocontact 6 series and they are much more expensive. however I will try to grap one 195/60R18 set for next summers tests if I find a bargain. If you go to car dealers and look tires they are not designed to same specs on some model Michelin are narrower and if you look other model goodyear is narrower vs e primacy. That is within same tire size. Citroen shops particularly they have same car offered with two manufacturers tires.

Soon going for my wintersetup. 7x17 ET 20 Braid Fullrace A . I dont get that the 17" is more effecient. THe 195//60/R18 looks promising.

How about the ec tire labels? Noise and rolling resistance should be good comparable...
@TunekoLtd
@TunekoLtd 11 месяцев назад
All tires are A rolling resistance exept the 215/55R18 ecocontact 5 is a B rated for rolling. I will gather that data on results.

@@TunekoLtd ok! While we are really going into depth, you might also look on the tiresidewall info for threadwear, traction and temperature. Also interesting when comparing i think.

Do you think going for extra sidewall (255/45/19 to 255/50/19) would decease model y range by much?
@TunekoLtd
@TunekoLtd 10 месяцев назад
It won't make the ride much softer if that is your goal? I am preparing a video on the ride hardness impact. You should have 225 wide or narrower to be able to notice different in ride softness. Impact to consumption is minimal by going just one sidewall higher. Rideheigth gain will hurt, but bigger tires you put, fill your wheel wells and arches closer and it will help. Also taller tire diameter helps. So roughly +-0 impact to consumption.
