I remember Elon saying that the Model 2 will be initially produced in Texas, so it would make more sense to prioritize production of the Model 2 at the expanded facility.
As mentioned in the video, Tesla is currently focused on ramping up production of the Cybertruck in Texas (and this will take at least 4 years to complete 2.2 reservations). Introducing the Model Y at this location will add additional pressure on them. Unless they complete the expansion of Giga Texas soon, it would be understandable to produce the Model Y there. However, Elon Musk has stated that there will be no refreshed Model Y in 2024. Therefore, the best thing we can do now is to wait.
