I have done this trip in my SR plus several times. I recommend Bellevue's supercharger. Starbucks and subway are nearby and there are a truckload of superchargers so you'll never be out of luck. Cornwall's supercharger is the most isolated so you'll need to go to a nearby Walmart first, before charging your car there, and Kingston's isn't that good as well as you started. Btw, there's another one in Port Hope that I used and there is nothing nearby that one. So give Bellevue a shot next time. 😀
Standard range has 402 km on a full charge, but on the highway, i'd expect no more than 300-350. From Belleville to Montreal is about 350 kms - You're telling me after filling to 100% in belleville, you have completed your trip without stopping again?
@@_imhco it's 415 these days. 😬 I did stop again, at Cornwall. That stop sucks but I had to do it. For your car, maybe you can reach from Bellville to Point-Clare SC in one go, as it's about 350km. Personally, I always account for two stops, assuming I'm starting the journey with 80% battery. Btw, you can drive a bit slower to increase range, if you can tolerate the slower speed.

With the two clips that show a truck next to me, those aren't really ideal to illustrate what I meant because they weren't really encroaching much. I didn't film quite enough to capture the handful of times when I wished it would tend away from the vehicle, and in most of those cases, I took over pre-emptively. Not sure if things have gotten better in this specific regard.

Yes I saw the Cornwall charger on supercharge.info - at about 425 km from Toronto, its basically out of range for my car (unless maybe you are driving at/below the speed limit, in ideal circumstances). But knowing its there definitely makes it less scary because if you wind up in a traffic jam after Kingston, losing lots of battery power with the heater/AC, at least you can charge back up in Cornwall.
100%. In fact the heat is a bigger problem for the batteries than the cold, in terms of degradation and drainage while parked. In the winter, the key factor is your charging/parking arrangements.
Getting a MY LR and would go between Toronto and Ottawa. Do you think the supercharging would be a deal breaker? Should I cancel my order and get a gas car?
Not at all - Ottawa is far closer. If you skip the performance pack, and you drive the speed limit, you might even get there without a charge; But in Perth there is an 8 stall 250 kW charger! I think you're all set.

I watch the "E for Electric" channel and i think i remember watching a segment where Alex explained a rumour or possibly a real news item, on how Tesla was planning to change the rules of the referral program because a lot of prominent social media influencers were getting far more referrals than any one person could ever need. For example, Andy Slye has so many referrals, he is entitled to TWO tesla roadsters when they finally come out. Its tough to recall now, but i believe the problem was the ground cable from the panel was brought into the box, but not wired to the ground prong of the receptacle. I tripped the breaker, verified safety everywhere, and worked with battery powered lighting. I added a new short length of wire from the ground prong of the receptacle to the grounding stud of the box (bonded to the ground cable), tidied up and reset the breaker. Once that was done, the car charged without any problems.
Nice Model Y. I ordered mine last month in pearl white with black interior, long range standard version and I intend to take delivery in November 2020. By the way, was that a radar detector on your dash? 😉 Kingston needs more Tesla Superchargers. That is not a good situation to be in if you find too many people needing to charge at the same time. It can add much more traveling time to your journey. Perhaps certain times and days are better to charge than others but not everyone has the luxury of time. Still, these are some of the pitfalls when traveling long distance in an EV. I just realized you were traveling on a holiday weekend. Unfortunately, those are the busiest traveling times to go as there are more people on the highways and Kingston is a major halfway stop for many when going to Montreal or even Ottawa. So this explains why you ran into problems at the Tesla Chargers. Still, since this is such a busy location, TEsla should definitely add more chargers. By the way, regarding getting a spare tire, check out Modern Spare. They make doughnut tires specifically for Teslas.

I love Modern Spare's products, but they definitely come at a premium. I just can't justify the price. If I take a long distance trip into less charted territory, hopefully I'll have enough space to throw one of my winter or, season depending, summer wheels in the car for use as a 'spare'.

@@raffibal For sure - I think it will be a hot topic come Fall. In practice I've read that heat pumps are 4x more efficient than resistive heaters but that also depends on ambient. For now I'm seeing about 200 Wh/km; i'll definitely cover what happens to that figure in colder weather.
Not replaced - but they did some proper fixes. i have a video on the way, long overdue... for trims and interior issues, they replaced with new... for the paint, they had to do some extensive polishing work... Not ideal, but I can honestly say there are no issues at present.

@@_imhco heavily shop insurance for your Tesla. I did really well with Progressive. To insure my 2013 Audi A4 and 2020 Performance Model X is just $700/year. Had I stayed with my existing carrier (Liberty Mutual) they quoted me $2800/year for the same cars. That was my worst quote, but they were all over the place. I saved a lot more by shopping insurance than I did shopping financing.
I don’t know why you keep insisting charging to full only once at a busy and small Kingston. Be smart and charge twice elsewhere but for 15 to 20 min. It tells me you are not a good EV route planner. Watch other RU-vid channels on this and learn how it’s really done.
