Mouldings: We used 5" tall by 1/2" wide flat stock for the baseboards, and 2 1/2" tall by 1/2" wide flat stock for the door trim.

Noone thinks about the trim unless you're doing a full reno. I think it turned out great and ties in beautifully with your home decor and style. I like the slow motion walk pass the camera and the runway walk down the hall. Thhe designer making his way after the project is revealed 😁👏🏼🙌🏼🔫🚪

Looks great ! A couple of questions for your. Did you pick MDF or wood baseboards for non-wet areas? Also, is the flat (modern) stock easily available at the big box retailers or did you have to go to a lumber / builder supply store? Thanks and keep up the great work

We used MDF. The flat stock is available at all our local stores as far as we know. We found them in a bundle (like 6 x 8' boards or so) . Thanks so much for watching!

at 2:40, better to pry from the outside and damage the drywall that will be covered by the larger new trim that to dent/damage the frame of door and have dents

It was custom colour matched to the existing baseboards of our house. It was a creamy white colour :)

Looking great! Quick question about dust on top of the baseboard. How often do you clean it and how? I’m thinking about adding the same style

We probably don’t clean it often enough 🤣 Once a month is honestly plenty - same as any other baseboard style really. Just warm water and whichever cleaning product you use at home.

When you say 5" highn is it actually 4.5"? Did you buy it from Home Depot or Lowes?

Does the new trim have eased edges? the 5" baseboard and casing?

Yes. The softened side is always to the top (away from the floors and doors).

@@LindiandRuss Thanks! Putting in an order for about 3k worth of pine trim from a supplier and debating whether to use the 9/16 that has an eased edge or just the standard 3/4 with straight/sharp edges.

Thanks for the tips. I noticed you used the same thickness for the casing and baseboard. This is what I did in my old house before. However I have been reading and didn't know that casing should be thicker than baseboard. Is this really true? Or just a preference?

For me I like to have the same thickness to blend it all in. But a contractor might have a different opinion. It would be quicker to have slightly thicker casing around doors and then butt the base casing against it. This will hide a bit more imperfections. If you run the same thickness you need things to fit up better to get it all lined up and looking professional. (in my opinion)

What he said’ It’s opinion if u do same thickness which I did you just need to take after care when installing you may need to shim but I think it looks cleaner with same size over having casing thicker than baseboards
