hundred percent agree. theyre made for rich people and tech geeks. i work at a shop in an upper class town, and the new cars are so odd. weird buttons in random places to switch gears, huge screens that do nothing, annoying electronic nannies that endlessly annoy and distract, creepy facial recognition software detecting who is driving the car etc

Personally wont buy never vehicle than 2000. When those become outlawed, I'm seriously considering a horse and a homestead. Amish are into something missing the rat race for nothing but junk like modern cars and gas. 😂

The most sold car in Europe for 2023 was Dacia Sandero. That speak volumes about what ordinary people really look for (and can afford).

Just bought a 93 Tbird because of many reasons you touched on. I wanted a car that let me actualy be the driver instead of just suggest to the car what it should do. Wanted less computers in it. Most importantly though, when I put a period correct V8 in it won't be one of these modern inerference ticking time bombs of an engine like the Coyote. Added bonus is it only cost me $3.9k.

When I was a kid I was a huge fan of cars. As all boys are probably. I'm still a huge fan of cars, but I've come to realize I'll never afford one. But that's OK. You can enjoy cars vicariously, like appreciating yachts or extravagant mansions from afar. I've got my bicycle and I love it, it keeps me fit and it's really fun. BUT; what made me take this stance on cars is that I switched my mindset from wanting a car to wanting a motorcycle instead. Motorcycles are way cooler than cars and require much more skill to operate, that's why it's the vehicle for me. Thankfully, motorcycles are way cheaper than cars too. Hence, I view cars a bit like you'd view semi trucks; really cool and awesome, but not something you'd actually get for personal use, it's just too expensive and too much hassle.

Auto manufacturers can’t build the car today that they made 10 years ago. Fuel economy & emissions standards force manufacturers to computerize everything and it makes them expensive. Cars are not only an extension of your personality but it’s also a fashion accessory. Some women want the brand name handbag and they want the guy to pick them up in a nice car. Also, today, most people have no clue how to change their own brakes or change their oil. Maintenance is expensive and some people rather trade it than pay to fix it.

Why? I drive a manual, petrol only powered car but most people don't even know why their car moves. It doesn't matter if it makes a noise or whatever. You can't hear the average mazda cx-5 or whatever anyway. Honestly I think its archaic its like all trains being steam powered we just don't need to do it.

@@PhoenixsWorldVideos Electric is a step backwards. We had electric cars over 100 years ago and they lost to the gasoline cars in a free market. The only reason they are back is because they are being forced upon us and that is why I do not support it.

Modern vehicle manufacturing is so heavily regulated and low margin business all cars kinda end up being the same. You'll have to have modern emission control system and ECU tuned to for fuel economy. You'll need to have traction control, SRS-systems and whole bunch mandated systems that add weight, cost and complexity to vehicles. Crash safety standards, occupant and especially pedestrian, force much of the front end designs. Even greater impact comes from aerodynamics. Every car is an egg now, and sedans are notoriously difficult to make aerodynamic so every sedan is practically a 4 door hatchback. Also bean counters designing the cars noticed physical knobs, dials and switches are expensive, so lets replace everything with one or two screens. Of course same guys realized integrating components to single assemblies is great for cost and that with modern plastics one can start replacing formerly die-cast aluminium parts! Don't forget they are in the business of selling cars, so money sent on making things repairable is money wasted. I don't know how it's in the US, but the EU has mandated emission limits for car manufacturers that are based on average CO2 emissions of their model range. That means if your line-ups average emissions are above certain threshold, manufacturer has to pay a fine per car sold. If you are selling Porches, it hardly matter whether the price tag says 134k€ or 139€ but if you are selling Nissans 24k€ to 29k€ makes a huge difference. For this reason most brands have stopped or are planning to stop importing sportscars and off-road vehicles to the EU. Most notably Nissan doesn't offer the new Z or GT-R, Subaru doesn't bring WRX models nor the BRZ anymore, Toyota likewise won't sell the 86, I think you can still get the Supra, and Suzuki discontinued their beloved Jimny, a small affordable 4wd off roader. Not like there wasn't market for these cars, but selling them would cost much much more in fines than they'd make. Political control at its finest. I hear people often complaining how car companies don't offer just basic car without any unnecessary electronics but the fact is they simply can't do that in current political climate. Closest thing to "good old" simple cars in Europe at least is Romanian Dacia, that is part of Renault-Nissan group and makes cheap and as simple as possible cars from last generation Renault/Nissan tech. They are doing decently well, but have some quality issues and of course cant escape from regulatory burden but it shows that there is a steady market for simpler cars.
@GMazzenga
@GMazzenga 22 дня назад
yeah so pretty much regulations are killing the market. i agree with what you said
@kuuppafin6011
@kuuppafin6011 20 дней назад
Exactly. On top of this it does not matter how safe the vehicle is if people are nannyed to the point they crash looking into their phones while driving or waste loads of gas and energy because the systems take electricity, need to be constantly replaced and folks need to drive into places for all the bs problems and grifts this kinda culture creates also outside of the auto industry.

Ford had a bulletproof 4.6 liter V8 for it's Crown Victoria. They could've used it for other models and improved the gas milage. But american car companies always built an unproven brand new motor. Where in the past japanese brands refine the old motor to perfection.

Henry Fords idea about the affordable vehicle and American middle class lifestyle created around this domeatic production in all western countries is now a time in a history. Instead of being affordable and reliable the basic car is now sold as a luxury item and designed to brake long before its time to drain the last from your already empty wallets. The failing middle class story culminates in an auto industry and more specifically in ordinary ayto mechanics life: They fix over engineered (and expensive) stuff in cars their own salary can no longer buy and the customers don't own for the bank does. Every day an auto mechanic meets problems that could have been avoided by actually producing a decent, reliable, product. Such auto would actually work and therefore be environmentally friendlier too as most parts could even nowadays be interchangeable, not those branded recycled junky, plasticky things that are purely designed to break long before its time making amish with a horse buggy look like actually better solution as hay is cheaper and theres no chase to pay for it in the hamster wheel fixing stupid mistakes meant to drain the american dream into corporate oligarchs. And don't tell me closing every small business is about capitalism or free markets. Could a mechanics shop make a vehicle factory or be lobbied out with law and lawfare.? That sounds freedom to you? Every mechanic, a modern average Henry Ford of the day, would build a better product than any car manufacturer out there for theyre in it for profit, not quality.

It's like this with nearly everything. The new Windows OS has built in AI. I really don't want nor do I need to use it. Hopefully it is not hard-coded so I can just delete a few files and render it unopenable but I think in the future, when my current laptop is conked, I'll switch to Linux. Same with my printer. Took me ages to find one that is not wi-fi connected. We replaced our stove and now it has an app to control it... why? In my first year of college, we were taught that a well engineered product is based around the user's needs... most people need a car that is simple to drive and cheap to run. I would not be surprised if the end goal is to effectively ban driving cars for the masses while the 1% get to roll around in more and more opulent machines.
