MD Sling looks cool, not much different with the alternatives except maybe the Aer Tech 2. Great updates matey. It's giving us ideas in making our customised pack. Cheers mate.
I had a 14" Thinkpad for work and was looking at the errant sling, this, and the tech sling 2, as on a subway, the sling works better than a backpack for standing and sitting. I like having room for lunch. But that laptop size was a bit too much for some of ehem. Then work issued me a chonky new 15" Thinkpad and that's narrows down my sling options to the aer travel sling 2 and dsptch slingpack. I can sorta force it into my current alpaka tech brief 16" (that has a back sling mode that actually won me over to the sling side) but it's too tight long term, the Thinkpad is wider and thicker than the 16" MacBook everything is sized for.
@@Nomads.Nation seems like nope. When I had the smaller laptop I was considering this or the errant sling, but it's good I was indecisive or my new work one would have made it pointless. I do like these bigger slings though, I'll like some capacity.
Man, you make reviews after I buy and sell a bag :D Had this one as well, but honestly, could not find it very useful, it's to big for a sling, but for me to small for a backpack, those side pockets might be handy, but pay attention to the zipper - it does not zip fully to the end, at least I was not able to zip it close. It fits 14" dell laptop - tested, of course it's becoming tight. Finally decided to return it as I prefer to use smaller backpack (i.e Aer Day Pack 2) and if necessary to downsize - i.e Alpaka messenger is a better option for me ;)
Good bag-versatile and stylish. However, the pockets are tighter than necessary, making access a bit challenging, though that could be a plus for security. The biggest issue is the laptop sleeve; it's too snug for a 14" laptop to slide in and out easily, and if your laptop's in a clamshell case, good luck!
The Aer Sling 1 and 2 are great middle ground too between a backpack and sling. Just bought my sling 1 for my trip in SEA last month and I carried it everywhere, it was really good and it only cost me 100$. The only downside is that it can be a bit heavy on one shoulder when you pack it to the brim with laptop, books and other dense objects.
This is the one I asked to be compared to the boundary supply sling back in March. I got my custom, I use it with the straps that come with the boundary supply duffle bag only thing I wish the laptop compartment was for a 16" 😅 but overall. I love it. When would you be reviewing the nova duffle bag?
@Nomads.Nation hahaha, but the community is buying based on what the expert thinks, I bought bags based on your reviews 😅 That's why I am hoping for your review before making a decision 🙂
Aer Travel Sling 2 X-Pac is my EDC. Waterproof zips, soft interior quick access pocket, fits 16 inch laptop, and compression straps that can be used to hold a coat on the outside - Great sling.
Kind of an odd question but do you think it can be carried in the front, at least temporarily? I travel a lot with just carry on and I have a 40 liter backpack as the main carry on item. I'm now looking for a secondary personal item that maximizes the storage for those dimensions. So far I have a small backpack for that but it's awkward once I'm already wearing the big 40l. So I was thinking a bigger travel sling for the front (or side) might be better for those transfers to and from the airport etc
@Nomads.Nation appreciate the answer. I'm sure it wouldn't be the most comfortable but a) better than my current solution :D and b) give me a great daypack/sling once I've reached my destination. The other solution I was looking at might be the aer flight pack 3 in messenger mode but I'm not so sure that all airlines would allow it as a personal item with those slightly bigger dimensions
Umbrella should go in the spare waterbottle pocket for easy access :) Good thing that it can carry less tyan 16l as 16 might be a bit too heavy for a sling, and then should transist into a messenger or day backpack.
An amazing design (as expected from dayfarer) i love the inovation but to me because of the weight and size i would ad another strap and call it an edc backpack
I have it 😅and i use alot in the raining days . I use the external water bottle to put my umbrella ehen its wet i put inside the backpack in the waterproof pocket (the fake mesh ) and im dry . I use the roll top when i go in the undergroung waiting for the train i put my puffy jacket on top of the bag. I love the side pocket i use one for my key and one for my ecig liquid and ecig cigaret 😅
Modern Dayfarer emailed me a 50% off code for this bad boy, so I used your link and entered the code... hopefully, you get credit for the purchase. Also added their tech pouch to my purchase (it was sold out for a long time). Don't say I never tried to support your channel!...
There are not a lot of '1 strap backpacks' out there - looks like a great EDC bag when a sling won't quite cut it, and you don't want to bother with a full backpack.
Holy Moly! I really wish this sling was a backpack for a 16" laptop and could be at least 22L, with those water bottle holders in a different material of course! I would have grabbed it like the moment the website refreshed with the launch! 😅 Thank you for the review Aaron! To answer your question, yes, I'm organized enough to be able to know which compartment to hit when I want to quickly grab something but certainly not so much of an overkill where it takes me a decade to switch to another bag..if that makes sense 😊
3:56 (A) CALM THE FUCK DOWN !!! And stay down…lol 7:24 I tend to pack a bag the same way every time I use that bag… The biggest thing that will affect me packing my bag is how late I am running…lol Unless I am traveling then I pre pack because I know that I often, - ok almost always am running a few mins behind…
I think there are some design similarities, but I can’t agree that it’s a copycat. Also, are you 100% sure that this bag came out AFTER Boundary Supply’s… because I’m not
This is the only bag I’ve ever seen that has tempted me away from my peak design ed20L. Might have to get’er a friend lol. I’m in the market for something a bit smaller for when I don’t need all my work stuff with me (everyday 20l use case) All in all I think ima pull the trigger on one of these. Gimme them external carry straps with the bag tho ya cheap bastards.
