Honestly, the best video I've ever seen on the Vogue channel. THIS is Vogue.

I really find it rude if people start eating before everyone is served, so I have to disagree on that one. Interesting video though

A few remarks after this rather poor and limited instruction on table etiquette: - in a restaurant a dessert spoon is brought to the table together with the dessert. Only in a private home a dessert spoon may be on the table already; - If restaurants would together with the salad forks also put a knife on the table to use with the salad, people who use both hands would be much more comfortable; - What is it with that hand under the table; that is an American habit from previous centuries used by poor people. Americans should have grown up by now and be able to use cutlery in both hands; - When you haven't finished your course yet but want to take a rest you put your knife at 4 o'clock and your fork at 8 o'clock on your plate. That way your waiter knows that you haven't finished yet and the waiter doesn't have to interrupt your conversation to ask if your plate may be cleared. - When you leave the table between courses you leave your napkin on the chair not on the table. That is a sign for the waiter that you will return, on the table means that you won't return; - It is still polite for a man to stand up when the lady leaves and returns to the table; Table etiquette is an unspoken language used so not to embarrass yourself and others, as well as discreetly signaling the waiters how you have progressed with your dinner and how you wish to continue.

I always find it odd that Americans don't hold their knife and fork when eating looks very uncomfortable to me but guess I'm just used to European Etiquette

PLEASE put both your arms on the table while eating! never place your elbows, just your lower arm resting on the table when not being used, and the other arm must be placed while talking. NEVER keep the fork or knife while talking/body talking.

So different from other etiquette video.. live it!

Frank, to the point and yet charming. She definitely needs to be in more videos. Also, I was always taught that the silverware placed above the plate was for dessert, but that might be for private dining rather than for restaurants

I’ve grown up never being able to even afford ihop and now that I have my own job I’ve been saving up to take my mom out for Mother’s Day, but I haven’t the first clue how to act since that wasn’t a really relevant topic. Wow! Everyone has so much comment on this video criticizing the woman, although she is the one who go to this kind of restaurant regularly compare to the critique. Well, it is common for people who rarely go to high end places to think that they have to be proper and all. However, unless it is a state dinner, you don't really have to become a robot! Today's etiquette has changed so much because of globalization, since people from different world has different standard of etiquette. What you think as polite in your part of the world might seem impolite somewhere else; you have to learn to accept other people either way, and the way your boss/business partner won't be stuck on your dinner etiquette but on your performance in your job.I think this is what this video wants to convey. The most important thing is knowing your utensils and avoid being disgusting (such as farting, scratching, talking trash, burping, and ignoring your meal partner).

... i still wouldn't start eating until everyone has their meal. Other than that, a great video! Manners are so important.

Be on time for your friends too. Thinking they'll understand just tells them that they fall low on your priority list. Also, leave a little bit for lady manners. It's not about what you think. It's about what manners are. Good point about the phone. If you miss all the rest, at least have manners with your phone.

Etiquette says if you get up an intend your return leave your napkin on your seat. If you get up and don’t intend to return put it by the side of your plate.

Going to take a piss here but I disagree with some of the things said. Wait until your host or the most important person (ex. boss) starts eating. Also do not put your knife with the blade facing to the outside when putting your cutlery down after eating. Cheers.

speak quietly in a restaurant, don't move your mouth as much as she does, don't put too much on your plate, don't leave your napkin on the table when you stand up (but aside or even tucked closely beneath the dinner plate, ...), etc etc
