That's the machine I use! It doesn't have a lot of tricks and features, but it never messes up on me.

That’s a nice machine. I’ve always wanted a hand crank machine like this you’re going to have loads of fun with this machine. If you keep it around long enough, I’m sure.

That was quite funny to watch you operate the 66 for the first time. When you wind a bobbin, you firstly undo the stop motion screw which is the large knob that holds the flywheel on. You turn this knob anticlockwise to disengage the motion. Then the machine will stop but the bobbin will wind. This is one of the wonders and bliss of absolute silence!!!! When sewing. I bet you loved using it!!! Total control with a hand cranker!!! Awesome video.

Love these beautiful machines. I have several of my own. A good way to remember which way to turn the hand crank is to think “Over the hill and far away, then under the sea to me” I used that to teach my boys to sew on hand cranks 😊 Looking forward to your other challenges!

Thank you! We're looking forward to doing more too! This was one of the most fun videos to film! That's a great way to remember it to be fair! It's a really good skill to have, especially since a lot of these old machines are still great to use and especially great in a powercut! 😂

That was cute! she did have the threading a little wrong but it surprisingly worked! I own a 101 in a library table from 1923, and to-day I brought home a 66 "Red eye" that is in very good condition. All I did to that was put the thread in and it sewed perfectly! I'll have to clean and lube it yet but wanted to try it out. It was a hand crank but electrified, so it has a foot pedal controller. It's serial number dates it to 1910

Haha, yeah we sort of threw her in the deep end! I think Rachel did very well, considering 😂. They really are amazing machines, I wouldn't be surprised if it lasts another 100 years if looked after! I've seen some of these electrical conversions, they are pretty cool but they can be pretty scary too depending on who did them, haha.

For the next challenge how about winding the bobbin correctly i.e. turning the crank the correct way. 🤔😂👍

I have a 66-14 from 1940 that was converted to electric, I love it it's the best machine I've ever used. It's better than my new singer fashion mate.

They really are amazing machines, as long as you look after them, they will last forever! We have quite the collection of vintage machines here and they all work great; They don't make them like they used to!
