Welcome to Modern Gundog Training. In this series of programmes we will cover every aspect of producing a well-rounded, capable and steady Springer Spaniel in the shooting field. We will work with a variety of Springer’s with different characters and levels of ability. The different stages are approached with dogs facing the challenges for the first time, therefore issues and difficulties organically arise throughout the programmes. We then look to solve these issues using kind, firm, modern methods of training.
In the final instalment of the series our Springer’s are ready to be introduced to the shooting field and we look at practical working techniques in a variety of shooting situations. We are ready to enjoy the rewards of our previous training but there is still much to learn. We will take particular care when taking our dogs shooting for the first team, as these moments are crucial for ensuring a smooth transition between basic training and work in the field.
