I think doing the deck intros right after the first turn works really well. It can get awkward when 3 turns go by and no one has any plays made or the players do the intro out of order.
I got a good laugh at all the people commenting early about the first half of the video, clearly not prepared for how the second half of the video goes. This one's a classic episode, it's got that "my friend built a new deck with an overpowered commander and is ready to try it out for the first time" vibe.
It's very Cory, but mad respect, why I love Cory, they could tell immediately this is messed up. Didn't play it too toxic and the table kinda together, as long time and competitive players, kinda made it a fascinating conversation and analysis of powerful cards. It was kinda neat seeing the table just figure it out and realize together.
This episode was great, showcased 2 of the most busted commanders from the set and it was so much more about the personal interactions, judging by the comments that's a rare sentiment but honestly what a blast, keep doing what you're doing😊
corey takes first but everyone else takes last. Corey just loses a point for killing everyone in one turn so he net 3 points and everyone else gets 1 for last. BUT Corey got firstblood so he got 4 in total.
I got a foil Phlage at the prerelease. Went all colours with big common/uncommon eldrazi. 4-0-1 got a second place because of the last draw. Love the set! 🎉
Ashling in a way is more annoyong because you have to sit and wait to see if they actually have it. Nadu's combo is at least more definitive. I hope that there is an opportunity for Jeremy or Steven to play their decks from today again because I would have enjoyed seeing what their decks can do.
Watching this episode september 25th 2024. Cory indeed called Nadu getting banned, but nobody would have ever guessed what was getting banned with it. RIP some legendary magic cards in commander. You might be missed
The real issue for Nadu is for players that want to play it sort of "fair", auras or non zero equips etc. Because Nadu will just be hard ingrained into everyones mind as kill on sight regardless on whether you're running shenanigans or not...
@@hicklw01 cedh version also has to face way more removal and a metagame that will adapt. corey had some insane flips the first game too, the variance on flips is high
Fun episode! To answer Corey's question, in my opinion, Corey's deck was more ignoring just based on the counter spell blocking Steven Generous Gifting his equipment
Nice. Would love to see more high power games where the combos come out. I get it can be rough watching it as a player, but as a viewer of the game I like seeing players try to find the line to the win.
If they actually watch the video with the half point they would realize that Mr. Green should have a full point because Jeremy never got is penalty card for being the first to 5 lands
Two years ago Justin Parnell left for a family emergency, and he never returned. Now Corey sits in his chair playing cEDH against Mono Red Storm, Boros Burn, and Esper Enchantress. Corey is the problem, and I miss when this series was fun.
It's probably been this way since MH2, but this further proves that Modern Horizons should have been a set where it reprinted cards from Legacy and Commander to make them legal in Modern as well some desirable reprints from Modern to lower prices. It's very clear that giving Wizards the ability to purposefully make obscenely powerful cards results in nothing good. This was a fine episode, but yeah...
YEah hopefully nadu gets banned, takes the simic value engine to just completly bonkers, crazy how this card got made, and there like should we limit the ability: yeah lets do just 2 times a turn, ohh yeah 2 times a turn shouldn't be too bad, "per creature" oohhhh okay well how about we have the lands enter tapped, Noooo untapped each time. Well how about we do it so its only spells, no literally anything will trigger it, okay soooooo we should make it like a 1/1 so it dies easily, nooo it is a 3/4 with flying,,, okay we should make it expensive to cast, nooo it is 3 mana so that you can get it out before threats of counters could possible slow it down.. gotcha, making a card that will get banned.
I think everyone here is missing the point, everyone playing here KNEW what they were in for with a Nadu at the table. This video is a necessary evil to act as the proof for the ban/restriction of this commander as even Corey has said he wants to happen. One game like this when the last 50 haven’t been is fine, games like these need to exist and need to be on camera to support discussions on power balance
There are so many cards and commanders out there that are soft banned by playgroups, and this will be one of them. There's absolutely no reason to ban this card, just like there's no reason to ban kinnan, or thrasios, or ur miirym, etc.. It does speak to the necessity of rule 0 discussions in edh pods though.
@@BrassWhole to be clear, I also don’t agree with banning the card, but my post is for the people commenting they aren’t happy with these games and that this wasn’t a good episode, this episode was good, and is necessary
just started the video and i already know that Corey's stupid bird Nadu is most likely gonna win. BUT I really like Jeremy's commander, you can go equipment or +1/+1 counters themed for her, and I love commanders that have several different directions you can take it. SOOOOooooooo I hope Jeremy wins!
For a brief moment, I thought they were gonna do Brena’s ability correctly by realizing that Jon could still draw if he attacked Corey because he did in fact have more life that Jeremy, but….nope. Brenna HAS to be one of the most misplayed effects in Commander. lol
"If that opponent has more life than another of YOUR opponents" As it turns out, Jeremy as the Breena player does not count himself as his own opponent. They definitely played that correctly.
You guys need to get someone that their sole job is to make sure all the decks are balanced to each other. This overtuned Corey show is getting boring. Either that or bring back Justin plz. Make Commander VS great again.
7 minutes in and I’m assuming the video is gonna have 2 games or a board wipe is about to happen considering Corey brought a legit cedh deck that’s gonna go infinite on turn 4
Yeah that card 100% needs a ban with how easy it is to go infinite, it’s harder to not go infinite with him. It’s harder to go infinite with paradox engine than it is with nadu
So if I'm correct Cory should not be able to go off like he did in the first game because after the Shuko is equipped to two creatures his commanders effect doesn't activate again allowing him to look at the top of his library because it says that it only triggers twice per turn.
I have an idea: have a dedicated "chair deck"/jank deck or borrow a deck from a customer/studio for game 2 if someone combos off too fast to have 2 games in 1 video :D (like instead of playing nadu 2nd game give them a alternate jank deck that is always sitting in studio)
It's not just a Lightning Bolt on a stick Stephen Green it's a Lightning Helix on a stick still a very powerful burn spell in it's own right with Phlage that is. Also: They kind of need to errata Nadu IMMEDIATELY, THAT'S not cool Corey, come on turn 4 draw your entire deck, also please make it so no one can ever use Nadu as a commander ever again on the show, that first game was boring as hell
They don't errata cards for power level. That's not how that works. But yes, Nadu is not a healthy card to have in the format. I kind of hope that Nadu will prompt a BnR update for commander. If he gets banned, they might have the good sense to send field of the dead with him. And if they don't, they might free griselbrand, considering Nadu does what griselbrand does but for no life, a third the mana, and you get all your lands into play.
Man, who could've seen Nadu win. Shocker. I really hate the power creep of MH3. Edit: This video was not it... 2 people just win turn 4. This was said a million times, but y'all need a group discussion on power levels.
