1984: Modern Life drops their debut album, 'England Lives and Dies Tonight'. Sparking a new sound and moving rock forward, while paying homage to the mod movement that came before them, a new genre is formed; 'Modern Romanticism'. For the next five years, Modern Life dominated the English and European charts, and even made waves in America, becoming a cult classic, often played on college radio stations. The biggest hits from this album were 'She Says Here is Now', 'Why Oh Why Do You Love Me', & 'Seven Days A Week Is Enough To Kill Anyone'. Lead singer Edmond Davisson is still a major recording artist all these years later, better known to his fans as Davisson.
[Verse 1]
Look at me
I'm a loser
let's count all the ways
from early morning till always
A trapper keeper A long list of rhymes
Our failures made the papers
but not the times Not the times
[Chorus]
Why oh why do you love me
A quite simple thing
Why oh why do you love me
A simple thing, simple thing, A simple thing
[Bridge]
It would make more sense if the sun had died
But as it is I just can't see why
[Verse 2]
Look at me
A Sad Young Boy
Not Been in A Fight
I get bruised from contact with light
A Ratty old note book A list of complaints
Our shortcomings out of the dark
But let me be frank let me be frank
[Bridge]
It would make more sense if the sun had died
But as it is I just can't see why
[Chorus]
Why oh why do you love me
A quite simple thing
Why oh why do you love me
A simple thing, simple thing, A simple thing
