Modern Mustang Training: Getting a Trot Transition 

The first step to teaching the trot cue on the ground is to reinforce generously for increased energy, pace, and finally a transition to trot, all while maintaining connection to the handler. It can be easier to teach this while walking in a straight line to start. Now we have a reliable trot transition we can move on to building duration and relaxation.
