Creating triangle-shaped floral
arrangements, a step-by-step guide:
Cut and Soak Floral Foam (if using):
Cut the floral foam to fit your container, place it into the container with fresh water and let it soak in for a few minutes.
Do not push the floral foam into the water, let it absorb water gradually. You will avoid creating air pockets.
Select a Container:
Choose a container that will support the triangular shape, like a shallow vase or a ceramic pot.
Place the soaked floral foam into the container. Round the edges to make it easier to insert your stems, avoiding breakage and visibility of the foam edges.
Use a floral knife or any sharp knife you prefer.
When using palm leaves in my arrangement, I like to trim and shape them.
Cut all stems at a 45-degree angle before inserting them into the floral foam. It helps greatly with water absorption. My filler flower, Lisianthus, will determine the height of my arrangement. Position the first flower in the centre at the top and
the other, lower ones on the sides. Roses will be the main flowers in my arrangement.
Take off the untrue rose petals and insert them as the highest flower in the arrangement.
Keep adding flowers and keep in mind the
triangular outline. As I go lower, the size of my rose heads will increase. Before I keep adding flowers to the lower part, I will cover the floral foam with Ruscus leaves.
You can see the leaves have a very different texture to the palm leaves. That is what will make the arrangement more interesting. Let's add some height with tall Ruscus branches. You can use some leave-shine to add more glans. As a beautiful centrepiece, I will be adding decorative cabbage. To ensure there are no gaps, fill in with filler flowers and greenery. Using statice as a filler will soften the look of the arrangement.
