For the “God told me” thing, it’s not that God audibly tells me to witness to a person, it’s more of God presents me with opportunities and the Holy Spirit encourages me in what to say. I don’t find this sinful. I think it’s Gods work completely… not that I’m extra spiritual. The Holy Spirit prepares me in it. Without God’s help + without reading the word, I can’t witness this way.

Definitely true, I need to work on relying on God's Word and following the principal his word more than my circumstances and feelings.

1 Peter talks about the mind - be sober and alert... This message gives definition to just that! Having the mind of Christ, then, is completely submitted to The Father, regardless of the situation, acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God. Wow! This appears to be that thinnest line where He divides soul and spirit - because I must choose to not lean on my own understanding, to acknowledge Him in all I do... AND HE will direct my path. This goes to the very core of our Christian life and fellowship with one another,so that we do build up one another on our Most Holy Faith... Jude 20-25. This makes my desire to reread the stories of the Bible in the context of the submitted will of those men living with the deepest conviction and practice of their very existence submerged in The Holy God!

God be praised for this men's Teaching us the real BIBLICAL God. Thank you God for allowing us to listen and share this.

You are great at these hard-hitting topics Voddie. What is great about God is that He shall have His ultimate will done, no matter how much our "help" might interfere with that. We can't discern or read God's mind to perceive what He is thinking... His things are above the things we are even capable of perceiving in our fallen states; we cannot see how events domino across time the way that He can. My guess is that people trying to decipher every little nuance of God's will as a way for them to feel in control of their own lives and to justify what they are doing. It is, in essence, a means of living in fear because you are afraid to take a single step without trying to guess if God wants you to step there. It can turn into something pretentious when it becomes a thought that God's will can't be completed unless you are able to decipher it and to help "make it happen". We have the honor of being a part of the Kingdom's business, but no iota of that business shall go incomplete even without our input. When the time comes, His eternal Kingdom shall be exactly in line with all the specifications He's ordained for it, and wondrous beyond our imaginations. The real will of God: Boldly, and fearlessly love, trust and honor Him in whatever it is you do, knowing He's extended the greatest invitation ever, to be with Him always.

Listening to this message was like a breath of fresh air!!! I knew I was right! Why don't my friends see it! Thank you, Voddie!!!

My adult granddaughter is attending college. One of her ongoing struggles is rooted in the myths and outright lies taught by professors concerning the Bible, religion, the role of parenting, children's mental of and spiritual development, really all the things Mr Baucham speaks on in this sermon. It's almost as if he had been sitting in our living room, listening to a post-lecture conversation.

Wow. This needs a second hearing. My perspective has been blown apart. I never knew I was thinking in a pagan way in some respects.

The Apostle Paul gave us all great instructions and nailed it when he stated - - "I have LEARNED to be CONTENT in ALL circumstances." And, "Set your mind on the things ABOVE and not on the things that are on the earth." And, "If you have a roof over your head and food in your stomach, with THAT you should BE Content." I never did get the garbage about - what is God's will for me? Isn't it enough that we NEED to just "get with God" in the First place? I mean, to even THINK about approaching Him with MY sins, makes me so ashamed I can't move! I believe God's will for us is to be as cleansed from the sin that dwells within as much as possible while still on earth, and after 20 Trillion years in amazement of THAT, WORSHIP HIS HOLY NAME. THE WILL OF GOD is to WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH. We get THAT down and it ain't neva gonna git to - - 'What's the will of God for me' garbage.

Fantastic sermon! A reminder of His sovereignty! A reminder of being in the Word for answers and to stop looking for peace and signs that lead to my own heart's desires being fulfilled.

You only know it is a good sermon when you see how far off the tracks you have gotten, when it gets your attention and shakes you into waking up, and turning back to the tracks which are the only path that leads to Christ.

this has just blown my mind, i had to pause the video and walk away and think about it... Im new to reading the bible, so ive been reading it like you would read a story book, but you dont. The Bible is amazing, its like a million piece jigsaw that slots together, and as you open each relevant chapter and verse to the message you are learning that day, you see it all slotting into place. I find the Bible hard to understand personally, probably because ive been doing it wrong, and it is amazing how people like voddie knows this stuff inside and out, but thats the world we live in, a world that is corrupting us, and numbing the mind, and its obvious what the purpose is, numbing the mind takes you further from God..

I prayed the Holy Spirit would give me ears to ear and that if this was accurate He would give me the understanding so I listen to the whole message and afterwards I prayed again and meditated on everything said! At first I am not going to lie I was like but I know Yahuah directs me, I mean I have testimonies ok? Then the Holy Spirit basically told me get off your feelings lmbo What the brother said was not correct or against us being directed by the Holy Spirit and Yahuah… o believe what he was explaining is that if you are seeking the will of Yahuah by any other means other than The Word and biblical prayer then you are looking for pagan ways to control your life and ultimately the will of Yah ! Many of us because we are in this world and like myself where out here for a long time before learning the ways of Yahuah don’t realize that we are practicing pagan costumes! Brother was not saying Yahuah does not speak or we don’t hear from Him,but he was simply pointing the errors we make when trying to listen to Yah! I hope I made sense and this helps someone

If we die to our whole self will, desires, what we perceive as our rights, building treasure on earth, following our own understanding, reasoning and instincts, trusting and obeying man, governments, social workers, doctors, and others instead of God. We must put God first above everybody, everything and our own self. Put God above our pride, self righteousness, Self justification, above trusting self Self reasoning, self preservation. We must die. Self must die. We must understand the human heart is evil, deceitful and desperately wicked and must die. Even if we think our is better than others somehow. And be born again. This can only happen through genuine faith in Jesus. So we can live and bring forth good fruit. Some things I know about genuine believers in Jesus. One they are saved and stay saved. Two they obey Jesus. Three they have biblical love as described in 1 Corinthians 13 And bear the fruit of the Spirit as Galatians 5. Four they don't carelessly live on sinning. All this because they have faith in Jesus, are saved, and born again. Psalm 146 3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. John 12 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. 25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. Psalm 143 8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

What is faith? When we pray we come believing in Jesus. That is believe that He is God and created all things that ever were created whether in heaven or in earth. And we must believe that he died for the sins of the world and rose again on the third day triumphant. So we must be cleansed in His blood. Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. Born again. We must believe His Words. Having faith is not believing God is going to solve all my problems, teach so-and-so a lesson, make me wealthy, get me a new car, heal my body, pay my bills, or otherwise fix my woes and make my life peachy. Having faith is believing in Jesus that he died for our sins and rose again. That is not just mouthing words but believing unto repentance and life changing. Our belief causes us to trust and obey Jesus and surrender our lives to him and put him first in all things because we have been granted repentance unto life. We become aware of our sins before God and mourn. We are sorry we have Grieved God and lived that way. We believe the Words of Jesus/the Bible. We seek Jesus His way. We read the bible and pray everyday. We confess our sins and pray for strength and pray God purify our hearts and teach us. We yield our will to His. This is faith. That his will be done. He will change our heart to gave his desires. To do things his way and be obey. To accept his will and to have peace in the midst of trials, persecutions and tribulations. To have love and compassion and mercy. To have forgiveness and all the fruit of the Spirit and to seek to be obedient and pleasing to God in all things. To put him first and to desire to obey and please him above all things. That is faith; real faith. To love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul, and strength and mind. The more you do these things the more faith you have. If we do not believe Jesus died for our sins and rose again on the third day , what right do we have to come before the throne? We must come through Jesus, confessing our sins and in repentance. We must be cleansed. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear Proverbs 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight

I’m so Thankful for these teaching. Im 41 in Austin, TX my whole family celebrates pagan day. I even have pastors and ministers that have there own churches. So when I decide to not celebrate. So, I have a couple questions according to Voddie and his firm belief against education and getting a job that has a spirit of the age mindset. How does a christian person has a job or education in “the spirit of the age”? To make a decent living? We can decide not to comfort but we still need to live and work next to unbelievers. I’m a Christian psychologist, ironically.. and I do see damage from people experiencing trauma when I treat them (which comes from the outside), he said that isn’t possible? I firmly believe that Christ has the utmost healing power to do anything and that it exceeds all human understanding.. but does that make my profession bad? It left me feeling weird. Especially as a psychologist ( I have been trained in biblical theology)

I most certainly need to be catechised... but the problem remains that Christ's real church is practically impossible to find anymore.

Folks, what is the problem? Why y'all be makin one? Does anyone even know HOW to love God? The beautiful, loving, righteous judge of all? THAT would be our first "task" if you will. LEARN to 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind,' and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself'" (Luke 10:27) Isn't THIS "big enough" for doing something "significant for God"?

I love Dr Voddie, and I hope to meet him someday. However on this particular subject I would have to disagree, but not exactly with what was said; but where it was applied. The foundation of the argument which was the first lady's testimony...was not pagenesism. Probably why the audience was uncomfortable with that statement if you ask me. For example, Job friends said the Correct Things, but they did not Apply to Jobs situation. I agree with how Dr. Voddie explained pagenesism and the concerns we share in modern Christianity. He also used Great Scripture text to share his concern. However First, We do not know if the lady actually was not reading and applying scripture to discern the will of God...that is just how the argument was presented to the Church. Based on Dr. Voddie position, for example "being thankful in all things; 1 thess 5:18" is the "Will" of God for our lives. Scripture explains that to us. Now, if I am to live in NC or move to TX?? The correct person to Marry?Career to pursue...These are some examples that you will not see in Scripture. At what point does the believer live by "faith"? Does the Holy Spirit help in desicion making? Do we have similar examples in the scripture or do we rely on ..."because a popular preacher "said so? The Thesalonian church, search the scriptures daily to make sure..not just took the apostles word for it. This leads to my last point, do we see similar situations in scripture, in which someone may be unsure of "if God approves or disapproves or is it pagenesism? I have never seen myself as a charismatic Christian, as a matter of fact, I left a charismatic church because of their spiritual views and doctrine regarding female leadership, but still, I have to admit that I have looked for “bread crumbs signs” from the Lord. Voddie, the heart is MUCH more than a muscle that pumps blood. To state something so complex and brilliantly designed in such simple terms is dumbing down the brilliance of God's creation. There are dendrite cells in your heart, these are 'brain based' memory cells. The bible says.. “I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people” (Heb. 8:10b) 2 Corinthians 3:3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. Read Full Chapter Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, Read Full Chapter Ezekiel 36:26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. It's not that we only follow our mind/brain and neglect our heart, it's that our mind and heart work in unison and are fully directed by the spirit of God.

Such an excellent sermon. He struck many chords in this, but the biggest was at the end when he talked about those who say that they have these 2 way verbal conversations with God, and that those of us who don't have those experiences wonder just what in the heck is wrong with me that I don't have them, and I would question my salvation.

This was incredibly informative. I had to keep backtracking to listen again, because even as a conservative, bible reading lady for decades, I still am used to practicing and hearing (from other believers and from the pulpit) many of the ideas that Voddie is calling Pagan. Just wow! This will take a bit to sink in. Currently, I'm in a time of job change, and possible move in the near future. How do I understand what to do next? My husband and I are considering a move, should we? Honestly, after listening to this, I don't know any more about how to find what God wants specifically. But, I have learned some of what not to do and am encouraged about what I should continue to do: read my Bible. I'd love a part two of this video with more practicality on decision making. I’d like to hear how Voddie makes his actual important, time-sensitive decisions. It isn’t breadcrumbs, vibes, or feeling “peace,” but how do you choose? With time limits and ramifications of two options, what if both options are fine biblically? Do we just stand there? Take a leap? This is where in the past, I would ask God to lead and look for the "extra" things that Voddie would call Pagan. Like when circumstances seem to line up, or something that a person I trust might say to me etc. Is Voddie never directed in his spirit apart from his bible study time? I'd love to hear more specific ideas for when people really have to decide on important options with little time, and they want to please the Lord. What part of being prompted in our inner man by the Holy Spirit is real and what is "Pegan?" Established here are some things that I’ll ponder as I spend time in the word and in prayer: 1. GOD’S WILL a. Sovereign decretive will: Hidden to us. It will happen and is none of our business. b. Perceptive will: God’s revealed law and commandments. We are to learn and obey. c. Will of disposition: What is pleasing to God. We learn what God is like, what He loves and hates and seek to do the things that please Him. 2. MY DECISIONS a. If I am afraid that I am going to make a mistake and overturn God’s decretive will, then I do not believe in a sovereign God. b. Unless in willful sin, I cannot “make the wrong choice.” c. I must beware; the spirit of the age is impacting us all daily. d. I must think biblically, pray biblically, and seek counsel who think biblically. e. Seeking scripture and trusting God will not prevent pain, trauma, loss, confusion, tragedy. A happy life isn’t the evidence of obedience. f. Focus on God’s perceptive will. How do I apply the word of God to my thinking and choices? Like when circumstances seem to line up, or something that a person or two might say to me etc.

When the scriptures say watch and pray; watch means to watch, spiritually of course but watch means to watch.

This is very good news. I don't know if he continued on but the climax of that good news is that now mankind has a new federal head, Jesus Christ. And like in Adam all die, so in Christ all are made alive. Mankind was born again through the resurrection of Christ. That is cause for celebration and proclamation to those not yet aware of their identity in Christ our federal head. Good preaching.

I believe IF God DID reveal HIS mind to me, I'd be crushed under the biggest boulder in existence. Actually, He would have to create one heavy enough to equal the amount of weight I'd be crushed under. All I need to know from God is that He loves me and Forgives my sins. He'll take it from there...

It was an interesting sermon, but I find it a bit confusing. David in the Bible was asking counsel of God multiple times during his exile and after. Is that also soothsaying? If so he was never rebuked for this. I think I could find more examples of people inquiring of God in the scriptures. I understand God doesn't have to reveal His will, but I don't think there is a problem in asking in prayer. I'm a bit unsure what Dr Voddie is getting at here.

This is something that I say and I pray that it gets through to somebody. No one can change the word of God to suit them, we must be changed by the word of God to suit Him. I would ask for prayer. My walk with God sometimes it is a little distant because of the distractions around me.

Please pray for my husband. His name is Brian. The enemy has come against his faith in ways I only discovered today. Please pray the Lord strengthens his faith. In Jesus Name.

I really wish I would have heard this message in may early 20's. Wow, was I ever wrong in my methods of discerning of "God's Will".

Thank you for rebuking me. You called me out and I am happy to finally understand the truth. Now that I know that I truly did not believe in what I believed, I can ask for forgiveness, repent of my sins, look far more closely to my Bible. I have struggle with the "am I messing up God's plan?' to the point where I was afraid to make any choice in my life. I allowed the world to turn me into a perfectionist and people pleaser. When I started to follow God, I could not let that go and applied that to my walk with Him. Worry, fear, all of it made me over cautious. And what is worst, my parents and pastor has been trying to get this through my head for years. Again thank you, I needed this.

I never knew how much I needed this sermon. This is most likely why I was afraid of Christianity growing up but was always miserable, I needed the real gospel, the real biblical truth, not looking at the imperfect people claiming Christianity and judging them.

In case anyone happens to see this: how were the prophets of the Old Testament able to apply these points? In Abraham’s case, he had no uncorrupted record, he had no others who thought according to the Gospel until he met Melchizedek (which was after a lot of his revelatory experiences), and no example to turn to for truth… except for reaching out directly to God, outside of the corrupted texts that survived to his time. I just don’t see yet how this applies to others in scripture, at least if God treats all equally and is no respecter of persons.

Wow!!! What a great lesson! I first heard about Dr. Voddie when he taught “The Reason I Believe The Bible” message. This teaching is absolutely great because I am one of those Christians who said “God told me”. Now I’m living in a state with no family or friends and need guidance on how to move forward. But the answer to my struggle is what does the Word of God says concerning my situation. This was absolutely great!!

It's true what this word is about, most of the very uncomfortable moments in my life have brought me a lot of blessings, we must stand by what we believe, where the Lord has saved us, there is where we must bring them in! No matter the trials and ridicule from friend and family or anyone else!

Asking for understanding, so is Voddie saying God never sends us signs? This is definitely different from any other pastor I’ve heard so far. I’m still very new and trying my best to learn the real word of God and not be lead astray
