On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Most people would give the F-16C the advantage over the F14B in a guns fight slicked off, I think thats fair. I hear alot of people say the F14 should of never been even made in the comments across the web. Put a F14B with a payload/ weapons loadout 2-4 aim7 2 mk84 2 sw and mask the loadout with a F16 2 amram 2mk84 2sw. Guns only test your airframe. Would love to see it. Great job over the years been a long time viewer. 👍

We would all love it, but even without all the fancy new upgrades, say an F14D+, it still costs the same as an F22 to fly, hence why they are phasing that out as well

Variable geometry wings are just too much pain and maintenance and weight and arent worth it now. The Super Hornet does everything the F-14 did but better, with the exception of speed. Specifically high end speed.

They did upgrade the engines in the 90s but it wasn't worth the extra cost to keep it flying. The F/A-18 did everything the F-14B did for the navy but at a reduced cost.

@@JunkoXanThe last version of the Phoenix used the traveling wave tube seeker from the 1st Gen AMRAAM, which was new at the time. It's entirely possible that if the AIM-54 stayed in production, it would have basically become a long range version of the AMRAAM.

@Clean97gti cost is also what needs to be figured as well, cheap on paper, but expensive if used in war or in operations in general. The Phoenix wasn't cheap when it was in service. So it wouldn't have lasted to this era, at least in its form. The 156 was the modern Phoenix but was scrapped. Personally, they need to bring it back...

The main advantage of Meteor over the R-37 is its integral rocket ramjet propulsion, which means its under constant thrust throughout its trajectory, and, with the ability to throttle the engine, it can optimize its flight profile to maximize kill probability. In contrast, the R-37 uses a boost-sustain solid rocket motor, which means it reaches its maximum velocity just before burnout, and thereafter it's a big lawn dart, constantly bleeding energy the further it goes down range. Any radical maneuvers on its part, to counter evasive action by the target, will bleed energy much faster. Overall, hypersonic velocity by itself is grossly overrated against maneuverable targets, except at very short ranges, where the ability to evade is minimal. The faster the missile, the more Gs it must pull to stay with the target. A good rule of thumb is a missile needs to pull at least five times the maximum G capability of the target, but a hypersonic missile trying to go around the corner with a radically maneuvering target will soon cease to be hypersonic. This might change, if scramjet technology is ever perfected and made cheap enough for tactical missiles.

The idea behind the R37M is to force the opposition into the defensive first and keep him in the defensive posture as the missile will arrive sooner. It allows the Russians to stay on the offensive longer and bring the fight further away from whatever they are protecting. It nullifies the stealth advantage somewhat. Its not always about the immediate kill.

True only if the missile can maintain Mach 5 (which, at altitude is 3250 mph) over the entire course of the engagement. But, with a boost-glide weapon, Mach 5 is attained at or just before burnout, after which it decelerates rapidly. The decoration is greater if the missile is forced to make radical maneuvers, which it must, if it intends to pick up a maneuvering target in the terminal seeker "basket". Dragging the missile down to low altitude also increases drag, which reduces its velocity further. A constant-thrusting missile, like Meteor, is likely to have a higher energy state at long range than a boost-glide weapon like the R-37. This is why the holy grail of hypersonic is some form of scramjet. At short ranges, of course, a hypersonic missile is almost like a directed energy weapon--engagement time is driven down almost to nothing.@@jamesharris9816

SU 35E has the H035 Irbis radar and it's capable to see the target up to 350-400 km towards with 3sq metters EPR. (1 sq metter up to 270 km) With angle +- 60 deg electronic and +-120 deg hydraulics Plus SU 35 has the hypersonic 37M and 77M on the board. The other hand F14 with the APG71 radar can see up to 370 km (no info about EPR) but it doesn't have the hypersonic missiles. Maximum range of the Meteor missile is 200 KM and NE Zone is 60 KM So 2 missiles 37M from the SU 35 (doctrine. double launch. It's not "tap, tap. Pilot should wait couple or some sec to launch the second one ), will 99% find you first from the nowhere. ") Cheers

Dude, that ending was insane! I was almost yelling at the screen when you went for the mutual kill thinking you would be a goner, but no. Not only did you manage to avoid a hypersonic missile fired within 30 miles but you somehow held lock on the enemy while doing a 90 degree dive straight to the deck! Hacks, I'm telling you! Hacks! 7:22 "Sometimes the water can be disorienting, that's why you have instruments" That's no joke. Back when I did my private pilot's license, one of the first things my instructor did was get the Cessna 172 straight and level, then had me put on the IFR helmet. She then made a sharp right bank. She asked what I felt was happening, and I said, sharp right bank. She then slowly returned to straight and level. Because my eyes couldn't see the turn and it was too slow for my body to feel, I still felt like I was in a sharp right turn, even when we returned straight and level. She then told me to take off the IFR helmet, and looking at a straight and level horizon when my body felt like it was in a sharp right turn made my stomach churn. She said lots of people reach for the barf bag and throw up during that exercise.

Really like these DCS videos man I hope it never ends, and in case you want some ideas for missions can you try: Anti Ship strike missions. Helicopter Duals. Taking off from carrier and doing land strike. X2 morons with helicopters providing ground support. Escorting and defending VIP. Stealth missions with only the latest gen fighters. Destroy entire enemy base by escorting large fleet. X2 morons taking out boat fleet. X2 morons last hope for friendly base. X2 morons to the rescue.

That axehead TOTALLY bit off on your chaff cloud, Look at where it went - it just bee lined for the point before you went into that 90* dive... where most of the chaff was. Keep that move in mind, and try to reuse it. you just juked a hypersonic you yourself thought was certain doom. Ive seen you try to notch that missile in the horizontal and failboat... many times. Maybe vertical notch and countermeasure dump is the path to nirvana... Slick!

R-37M outside its element here. lts just not a configured missile for air superiority battles. The sacrifice for range, speed - comes at cost for G Limit maneuverability and seeker technology. Justifiably so, as the Soviets designed the missile for long range hunting of aerial refuellers, transport helicopters, cargo transports, amphibious planes, AWACs and ELlNT planes - not really fighter sized targets.

Dod was going to spend a Billion dollars to incorporate that Amraam missiles on Tomcat platform. Whole plan was dumped in favor of GPS and Lantirn Pod to launch laser guided bombs. Grumman built one of the greatest fighters ever imagined but his costs was prohibitive.

So if the f14 with the pheonix was capable of engaging bandits at over 100 mi. What could it do with meteors? Or even the current US hypersonics? Maybe with newer radar.

GS, in other videos: Cranks, drops chaff and flare. "We should be good here". Gets blown up. In this video: Pushes deep into the MAR. "Might die here". Dodges a hypersonic missile. Should do more of the latter 😅.

I would think that with today's lightweight materials a modern swing-wing fighter could be made. The benefits being able to be fast and also having increased loiter time.
