Let's not forget that this journalist and others were against PM Modi's policy in Kashmir. If we listened to them, there would be terrorism. They were not freedom fighters. Some thoughts and questions come to mind as I attempt to get to the root of what’s discussed in this news segment- (1) Democracy- Muslim population in India Vs Hindu population in any/all Muslim countries. In my opinion that’s an important indicator. Not saying India can’t improve but believe it’s one of the most democratic nations. Since Bollywood was mentioned- let’s count the Khans we all love irrespective of religion. (2) 2002 Riots and Modi’s role - A complete story is very critical to first determine the train burning was a reaction or the initiation of riots. Second - evidence of Modi’s role. The riots that followed after Indira Gandhi’s assassination was a reaction. But many people from Sikh community only talk about the later part of the events not the terrorism preceding that and not the assassination. Not advocating violence but It’s critical to get to the roots of the problem. Questioning reaction should come after questioning actions that initiate events. (3) Freedom of press - agree it’s a must for human survival. Unfortunately the very platforms can and are used to state incomplete or false information to discredit (look up the meaning of Borked and its history). We need to hold false news givers accountable along with ensuring freedom of press. (4) Bollywood and Islamophobia- Current News (and history) related to religion based practices is the baseline of such opinion. News like we saw what happened in Iran with hijab rules is just one example. Yes I agree some movies can target a specific religion but they cannot and are not the creators of such religious focused opinions. It’s usually the news coverage and history that tells what events occurred. (5) Ukraine - Russia: India did advocate peace. As for buying oil, it’s much less dangerous than selling weapons- so focus should be who are the main manufacturers or sellers of the weapons. As a journalist, would you all like to propose a peace deal. It’s not your job but taking an attempt might answer some questions for you and for all. What I know it was NATO Expansion which triggered Russia’s reaction. Didn’t look like UN had a peace deal to offer either. Treaties have been broken in past - so as a human bystander to all - what would you suggest? (6)Press conferences should be regularly scheduled with political leaders and mandated. Prior to conference- Press should release their question to public and some system where public too have a say needs to be in place as well. Else fake news channels can derail a good effort. Reminds me where are we with BRICS? (6) Disappointment in public belief- in my opinion lack of investment in public, religion over humanity, financial control over humanity that is responsible.Result it’s not demographic dividend but instead weaponizing people against people. Another example is lack of gun control laws in US, legalization of recreational drugs etc - what do we expect the society to look like?

This whole narrative in the western media about so called "oppression of minorities" by the present Indian state led by Mr. Narendra Modi is frankly agenda driven and has little basis in truth. The reality is that India has diversity as part of its core ethos - 'Unity in Diversity'. This is primarily due to the accepting nature of 'Sanatan Dharma' which is now labelled as Hinduism. All Sanatanis which includes the Jains, Sikhs and Buddhists fall under this umbrella. Despite facing systemic invasion and oppression for several hundred years, India has largely succeeded in maintaining this harmony. So are there no religious tensions or incidents of discrimination happening? Of course not. In a nation of 1.4 Billion there are bound to be some frictions. However, there is no systemic policy of oppression of any community especially the minorities (who have flourished in numbers since India's independence) by the state. For those interested in learning the truth, I encourage you to research on what the common Indian citizen belonging to the major minorities - in this case the Muslims think. America is a less religiously diverse country compared to India. As an American 🇺🇸 I’d like to change that. I want all Indian minorities to move to America. We have 4 times the land and resources that of India. If we 3 million minorities every month from India to USA - we can get all 360 million minorities in next 10 years. That will make America more religiously diverse and may be allow the world to have its first Muslim American 🇺🇸 president. I am sure my American brothers and sisters would also love to save the Indian minorities. Let’s make it happen.

Maybe I'm bigot on this issue but after leaning a bit about India's history, I find very hard to sympathies with the Muslims in this area. They massacred Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhist for hundreds of years (some estimate around 80 million people during the Muslim invasion alone). It just feels like the Hindus are expected to keep trying to work with the Muslims but yet, the Muslims seem to have no incentive to (especially with the terrorist attacks). I've sided with Muslims being attacked by Western nations but at the same time, I've still a lot of trepidations towards their religion (especially towards non-Abrahamic religions).
