MODIFICATION - APS CAM870 MASTERKEY | AIRSOFT
I really like to shoot, so I want to put a gun on my gun, so I can shoot while I shoot. Enter: Masterkey! No duct tape allowed.

STEP 2: DISASSEMBLY
To start off with something simple, I will disassemble the G&P Masterkey kit.
3 screws later, and I’m done.
Next I disassemble the CAM870. For more detailed instructions, click here for my CAM870 disassembly video.
STEP 3: MOCK-UP
I temporarily install the mounting hardware on my M4 by removing the lower handguard, inserting the rear mounting point into the delta ring and closing the quick detach mount around the barrel.
I need to compare the G&P and APS receivers in order to get the mounting points right. If the shotgun is mounted too far forward and it will look odd and be front heavy. Well front heavier, to be correct.
Too far to the rear might damage my M4, and in its current condition it won’t fit.
STEP 4: SAWING
In order for the receiver to fit and not interfere with my M4, I must cut down the stock screw attachment so it is flush with the receivers back end.
STEP 5: MOUNTING HOLE PLACEMENT
The placement of the mounting holes lengthwise is pretty easy since I can use the G&P receiver as a template. I mark out the spots for the new holes using a small implement dipped in white paint.
The front hole is harder to reach, so I use an allen key to get a rough position.
When the paint has dried I put my mounting hardware on the receiver and double check that my markings are on target.
Now I know the position lengthwise. But what about centering?
I could measure the width of the receiver and guesstimate the centre line. But if either the front or rear screws are even slightly off centre, this could radically point the shotgun left, or right. Rendering it useless.
Therefore I measure the width of the CAM870 receiver, and commission a drill guide of the same outer diameter. That way my hole will always be centred, no matter how I position the drill guide.
STEP 6: GUIDE HOLES
I make a 2mm guide hole in the front,
middle and lastly the rear.
I quickly check that the holes line up.
The rear and middle hole is spot on, I say!
But as suspected, the front hole is slightly off. But no worries! I’ll work with the two good holes and adjust the front hole later.
STEP 7: MOUNTING HOLES
With a 4.5 mm drill bit I enlarge the rear guide hole, and then the middle guide hole.
I place the 4.5mm drill bit in the middle hole to keep the mounting hardware in line, while I thread the rear hole through the mounting hardware and receiver in 5mm. Then I insert a long M5 screw. I remove the 4.5mm drill bit and treat the middle hole the same way as the rear hole.
Now, when the middle and rear are affixed, I can see the exact placement for the front hole.
STEP 8: FRONT MOUNTING HOLE
Using the entire mounting hardware as a drill guide, I drill a 4.5mm front hole.
I treat the front hole like the others, thread it in 5mm, and then add an M5 screw.
STEP 9: MAKESHIFT NUT
As a stroke of good luck, the middle hole went clean through the rear screw hole for the blocking plate.
Therefore I will turn the blocking plate into a makeshift nut.
This is easier said than done, since it’s made out of extremely strong material. Going straight for a 4.5mm drill bit was unsuccessful. I needed to gradually use bigger and bigger bits, until I finally got up to 4.5mm.
After this I attach the blocking plate on the inside with the remaining screw, and thread it through the receiver in 5mm.
I confirm that the threading is successful with an M5 screw.
STEP 10: AFFIX PLATE
The shell latch arm retaining plate on the back won't have a stock to hold it in place when the Masterkey is ready.
So I drill a hole through the plate with a 2.5mm bit. This leaves a mark on the receiver, which I also drill.
Next I thread the plate and receiver in 3mm.
A surplus M3 motherboard screw, with wide rim head, will work nicely to keep the plate on the receiver.
STEP 11: JOINING
Time to join the Masterkey mount and the CAM870 receiver.
Since I have enlarge the mounting holes the g&P screws won’t work. So I use two M5x16 socket screws for the rear and middle mounting holes, and a M5x8 countersunk screw for the front. I have cut and modified these screws so they fit and don’t protrude into the bolt slot. At this point I install the front and rear screw. Since the middle screw holds the blocking plate it can not be installed until the bolt is in place.
STEP 12: ASSEMBLY
Now that everything’s is done, I can assemble the Masterkey.
Please note that I’m performing these modifications at my own risk.

Nice one! It seems heavy... Maybe a version with the Serbu version would be more practical? (but less cool..) Anyways, great work, can't wait to see the next video! Since, you seems to love to modifying airsoft guns replica, maybe you coul be interested in this: Some people successfull adapt APS shells to a m26 mass from PPS

It's a bit on the heavy side, but it is unmatched in cool-factor. A tip would be to do what I did, and buy each piece at a time. Saving up money and keeping an eye out for discounts.

I'm really sad your videos arent popular enough. such a good presentation and narration, all extremly celar for dummies, nice touch with the music soundtrack. Sir you deserve much more people following you, great content, hope soon your chanel rise exponentially. That being said, i've just received my CAM870 SAI MK1, and i'm thinking to mod it and put an rmr on the top, but flush not with a rail and the rmr rail mount; i want it "slide cut" style, after seeing this i guess it can be done pretty easy, wasnt sure how drilling trough the receiver will affect function or structure, but those M5 bolts are much more intrusive than the M2.5 that RMR use, My plan is to use the actual plate that comes with aliexpress knock offs, to be directly mounted on G series, file down the notch that fits in the slide, and drill some mounting holes. It may also be done directly without the interface plate, i'm not sure how wide are the holes of the RMR, they maybe too separated to be directly mounted onto the receiver. The only concern i have is how topropertly align the mounting plate, to be perfectly perpendicular Just givvin ideas, you look to be pretty clever and handly with modding tools :) Here is the link for a cheappo RMR, i have the DE and its awesome, but for this build the grey would look pretty badass. goo.gl/zFt6T3 Here are the dimension diagram of the RMR, so you can check sizing. i.imgur.com/bRokYbI.jpg

Thank you for your comment! Our channel is growing at a snail's pace. But it is growing, so that counts, I guess. Tell your friends we exist. I too have a fling for Trijicon sights, which you’ll soon discover. Even though I am not an RMR-enthusiast, your comment got my attention since it is such an interesting challenge. Unfortunately the amount of material on top of the CAM870 receiver is rather limited. About 4 or 5 millimeters thick, depending on where you measure. An RMR “slide cut” on the receiver could, in this case, be technically successful, and you wouldn’t even need to modify the base for the sight, or use it in any way. All the base does is to close the circuit from the battery to the small LED-light projecting the dot on the glass of the RMR-sight. However if the machining on the receiver is done well enough, the receiver itself could be used to close the circuit (since electricity chooses the shortest patch) rendering the RMR-base superfluous. This, of-course, assumes that one owns an RMR-sight with a sensor or top-mounted on/off-switch (like the orange one in your link), since switching it off would require unscrewing it, if it uses other types of activation. That would be a hassle. But a successful cut would bring the RMR as close as possible to the barrel and be really quite useful indeed! I do own a RMR-sight, which happens to be the cheapest version china managed to bring to market. 5 dollars including shipping ain’t bad. Most of the milling could be done easily, but I am rather worried about the curve in the front. I did some mock-ups in a CAD-software and found the diameter of the cut to be way, WAY more than what my drill press could ever hope to manage. I would need to make a DIY large diameter fly cutter like ThisOldTony for such a project: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JBDNu_ViHlU.html Maybe I’ll ask AvE for some milling help with his fancy new toy: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q4c4BqhhJW4.html But I guess I could mill out most of the material and hand-file the rest. I do quite good handjobs. Mounting the screws directly into the receiver should not be a problem. Even if they end up on a curved surface one can always mill a flat spot for a drill bit to bite into. My only concern is with interference with the bolt travel, but that’s why they invented hacksaws. Aligning the mounting so it is perpendicular is quite straightforward: Use a spirit level.

@@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic My damm gmail spam filter, blocked a response from a YT comment i made myself... Google go home you are drunk... Anyway, i will love to see that made, and if you succeed i may send my receiver to you :D There has been couple versions of rmr, dimmensions may difere. the cheapes i found is shaped like Docter, and is more roundy, the RMR i currently have is more boxier, much more similar to real RMR. I hope i gave you a good idea, i know its gonna be really hard to implement, but with right tools and skills for sure it could be done with a bit of pattience.

This seems like a lot of work... I'm guessing the receiver that comes with the kit is polymer and on the cam870 is metal and thats why all this work is being done?
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 5 лет назад
It was indeed a lot of work. The receiver supplied with the G&P kit is actually made from metal, however it is of Maruzen/G&P/CA shotgun spec., and therefore some modification on a CAM870 receiver was necessary. Fortunately they both have realistic outer dimensions, so copying over the mounting holes was quite straight forward.

Can i put a real AR Doublestar Ace Socom Stock (for a real AR that has a buffer tube and everything) onto an AEG M4? Are the connections for the AEG M4 compatible with a real AR/M4 stock with a buffer tube (for the battery)?

@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic
@SpecialWeaponsAndPlastic 3 года назад
An AOW would absolutely work, but you'd be limited to 2+1 capasity (not counting ghost loading) and it would look rather short compared to a real Masterkey. I know my 4+1 is overly long, but when I find an aluminium welder I plan to remedy this.
