I got my 98 gmc sierra in April at 132,500 miles. A bit of rust on the far lower side but expected for a MN truck. Great driving experience and reliable truck. I'm keeping mine for as long as it lasts.
These trucks absolutely last FOREVER, i've got a 99 Suburban with the 5.7L and i'm sitting around 372K miles original engine and its still clean asf too
When the heads cracked on the 350 I upgraded to a drop in 383. I do have the 454 fog lights and all the auxiliary and fog light switches in the horizontal and in the vertical bezels.
The last user friendly non overly ronified truck - easy to navigate mechanical controls, very reliable engine. User serviceable engine repairs. The console lid is unusable and the overhead console is great in theory, but except for the spotlights is essentially wasted. Otherwise, the last of the great GMC truck line
I got a 1998 gmc seirra sle 2wd i bought for 800, nothing works, no power steering, doors are shit, rebuilt the front end, rear end makes noise, no ac.... and now 1100 on cats... but tell You what it starts and drives every day
To my knowledge size isn't the problem it's the lug pattern. The 90s trucks are 5x5.5 the everything since is 6x135 I believe. Don't quote me though. Lol
can u give us some direct links to ur mods like headlights an interior leds an elect. cut outs plz. also will u plz tell me how u fixed ur steer wheel an front dash where ur airbags deployed out,, mine did the same thing when sister wrecked my 97 chevy
Hey yes I am working on setting up an Amazon associate account to get lents for y'all! I should have it available in the next week or so! I bought most of the mods and supplies on Amazon but the cutouts came from badlandz performance @ www.badlanzhpe.com/
I've got a very similar '97 GMC I/2 ton, short box, extended cab. Mine differs mainly in being a v6 standard tranny with no opening rear door. One modification you didn't mention on your truck, I believe you chrome plated the plastic grille framework which goes around the parking lights, didn't you? Mine is painted and needs to be replaced , I have a used replacement which would need to be stripped and painted. Did you also replate the frame which goes around the grille? I could buy a new complete grille from GM with the chromed frame for about $250. But of course there would still be painting to do on the GM grille framework. So I've held off spending the money. The downside of that is that I would still need to repaint or replate the used grille frame. My old one is cracked and GM won't sell that piece seperately.
Yes you are right i forgot to mention that! I put on a chrome grille after the OEM one started cracking and dis-coloring. The whole thing is Chrome but the black insert is actually Plasti-dip and when I shot this video it was already 3+ years old and still looks good to this day, FYI i hand wash it that is why it holds up so well. If your looking for grilles look on amazon i got that crome one for around $150 or check out junk yards for the pieces you can't get from GM anymore. There are a ton of these trucks out there there's got to be the parts you're looking for out there! Good luck!
Every few months I use Simple Green and a soft brush and a hose or lite pressure washer, then top it with a tire dressing, I believe used armour all or similar product at the time i recorded this video. Now I use Adam's VRT , or car Pro Perl.
I Bought them here in houston at a place called HID factory (you can buy them on there site) but the brand its Morimoto the 2 stroke led system. I highly recommend them they are a true white 5500K. Stay tuned i will be installing the same LEDs on another vehicle in a video in the next 2 weeks or so.
Glad it's my truck and I don't use that part of the rear seat. The stock system just need a little help with bass thats all it's for it's nothing crazy.
