Modified Mitsubishi Evolution X GSR - One Take 

This is my EVO X. I'm in the passenger seat. Matt was very professional when driving my car. After the taping Matt stayed around and we all talked about cars. In the beginning I said it was a 2010. My mistake. I bought a 2010 Nissan Frontier 4x4 a week prior to filming and I had that year on my mind. My EVO is a 2013.

A maturely modified Evo is a perfect Evo.

Always loved the Evo x personally my favorite of them all.The shape,the way they sound under throttle,just a truly amazing car and I can hope to get one someday their the coolest things.Subtle looking yet still catches the eyes with the hood and small details on it that lets you know it means business .

To think they stopped making these in march of this year. The car has been going strong for almost 10 years!

Thanks for this one Matt, I just decided to keep my EVO and dump a bunch of money into freshening it up because nothing I've driven has been quite like it while still having 4 doors. I think people give Subaru too much credit saying they are basically the same car. That hasn't been my experience at all. I've already owned the "hard to drive" cars and I just love the thing for fun mountain drives, it inspires so much confidence but still feels really fun.

With a bit of help from Nissan "helping" to run Mitsubishi we'll get a new EVO I think. As it is their in-the-eye car, it is currently missed. I think Nissan will suggest to bring it back.

For a small period of my life, was obsessed with these Evo 10s. Still love them very much. They look amazing when modified. Some nice wheels, lowered, maybe front lip / splitter. The stock wing is beautiful. Have the potential to easily be crazyyy fast. They sound amazing. I have heard somee loud Evos. Heard this thing handles like a dream, even stock suspension. The Recaro seats are lovely. But it's cool this owner went the sleeper route with his exhaust, that's respectable too. :) I'd definitely go GSR just to have the manual trans. I'd just try my best to ignore the loud ass 5th gear on the freeway lol. Shoutout to 370zforme

Matt, it is apparent that pilot super sport tires are often mentioned in your videos. I found myself buying them for my car just from the popularity. I hope you are getting some kind of kick back for the continuing talk on your channel about them. Honestly I believe anytime someone mentions any manufacture on your videos you should be compensated by that company especially if you approve of the product

Hey Matt, great review with an owner who is great on camera! Would you consider putting the road names back in the title, it would be nice to know which roads you are driving on.

You know what the owner of that Evo needs? Dillon optics. They make the best sunglasses in the world cause they're from a company that makes scopes for sniper rifles. No.... your eyes aren't sweating. That's the matte black coating that makes them look awesome. They're expensive but they're worth it. Dillon optics are the official eyeware of the smoking tire.

This seems like the subtle, more user friendly version of my friends car. He has a 420AWHP Evo X with a sequential and Varis kit. It's great to look and it's a blast to be in but as one could assume it's not quite the perfect daily lol.

honestly, i feel like everyone always comments about the Evo interior... its a compact economy car that was turned into a rally car for the street from the factory. for what you get with the recaro's and the drive train i dont see what more you could want, they didnt over do it with a bunch of unnecessary crap which to me is a classic less is more situation. esp these new cars with all their fake crap, i feel like true car ppl would honestly just appreciate the inside of an evo... idk. i also like the interior of race cars...

Hey Matt. The 2F2F evo you mentioned is actually in Norway. (At least the "hero car" where everything was done to work, they obviously had stunt doubles etc.) The silver R34, the eclipse spyder and a Charger is also in Norway.

My brother has a 2011 GSR putting our 450 at the wheels. Pretty damn impressive for a 4 banger.

I absolutely hate seeing Lancer Evolution's and WRX STI's with their spoilers removed, why spend close to 40k (and sometimes over 40k) for a rally car for the streets to have it look like some basic Lancer/Impreza? you want something conservative then go buy a bloody German car, that's how i look at it.

This makes me miss my old Evo X so bad. Too bad someone had to run a stop sign and wreck the car for me. One day... one day.

I like driving the 5 speed of my evo, you always know intuitively what gear your are on. My previous car a GTI VR6 had a 6 speed and so does my brothers STI and sometimes I found myself not knowing what gear I was in. also there is at least in these two cars a very annoying catch some times between the middle gears where it feels like there is something preventing you from getting in to next gear.

A little constructive criticism? Try gearing up in corners and you'll really "get a flow going" when you use the torque and don't run out of rpm before the exit. So many vids I hear many unnecessary rpms then equally unnecessary gear changes.

About weather affecting the evo, I feel colder weather gives me more power, and the heat and altitude rob me to good stuff. About the lowering springs, I want to do it to my evo, but you need the shocks revalved and an rck kit, or it won`t last long.

I always hear about how Cali highway patrol cracks down on modified vehicles. What can they do to your car? Any cool stories? I would like to hear more about that. What mods do they look for besides cats?

Around 8:47 they talk about how come the dyno says less HP at 6500-7000rpm but in the driver seat it feels more, because the air being rammed into the engine is greater than just sitting in a room! The more RPM and speed the more intake flow. This is why M5 E60s that rev to like 10k can do 212mph no problem but the new F10 M5s cant do 212mph because they can't rev as high.

trying to decide what turbo im getting on mine. i wish i would have gotten one earlier, because it seems like the best deals on turbos were the journal bearing FP Black and MAP EF4. Both 550+ WHP bolt-on turbo's. Now the choice is a bolt on GTX35 which is much more expensive, and you'd still need a tubular manifold, and 4in intake, making that nearly as much a kit and then of course full T3 or T4 kits. Which are yet more. I should have gotten a R32 GT-R, but I didnt want something that old. Especially when you consider a 25 year old GT-R is probably a $7K car everywhere but here in the US. Can't justify it.

I'm pretty sure he has his air pressures front to back reversed. You want to have a higher pressure in the front tire to decrease understeer. I know it may seem a bit counterintuitive compared to say drag racing or off-roading but... um... Well, too bad. It is what it is. ;)

This may be an ignorant question, but have you ever driven the 2016 Mercedes A45 AMG? I love my hot-hatchs and the A45 seems like the top tier sport compact to choose from. Might have been a cool replacement for the Focus RS!
