Fun fact about panel fit on the 900: The 900 CC is one centimeter shorter on one side from the factory. This is a result of tolerances adding up differently on each side.

That spring closeup seems to be of the ventilation air intake box shutter spring, coincidentally located just below the hood gill before it is repurposed to the fender. Another excellent video from which we can learn!

I feel like there's going to be a "yes, yes, of course it is" moment here 😊 My best "and only" guess is that it is part of the trunk floor lock, it probably has a torsion spring if I remember correctly. Can't claim to have studied that part very carefully, even though it is on my two OG900s.
