WAIPAHU, Hawaii- Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (Hawaii EMA), together with the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management conducted siren testing (Modulator 6024B) at the following locations and times. Waipahu Town Center, Leoku Street.
These new sirens are part of the Statewide Siren Modernization Project. Residents nearby may hear the siren sound six to eight times for 30-second to one-minute intervals during the identified timeframe. Testing will include short blasts known as “burps.” During the tests, emergency management officials and technicians will check that installation work on this siren has been completed properly.
Hawaii EMA encourages the public to make use of other supplemental methods of warning including, but not limited to, the City & County of Honolulu’s mass text notification system, Nixle, and NOAA Weather Radio.
