@@misterbee66he told her to check herself. That she was ok when Kim was cheering for her but had a problem when she was starting to come up on her own. I literally just finished watching it lol
One thing I will say about this show is that its very realistic. Its the sad truth. There are people that do act like this and the drama was very realistic for a sitcom imo.
To you it may not but for some, it does. Who the hell wants to watch something that's not realistic? Unless, in fact it's science-fiction.@@melodysafo5437
Kim is not even fat though!? The 90’s truly were brutal for women if they believed she was overweight. Kim not only was healthy but she had great fashion sense aswell. Countess was that girl
She was definitely overweight for the standards back then, she was a chubby girl. Remember, body trends change over time. “Thick” wasn’t a thing back then.
Unfortunately this is realistic. Some teens and young adults are absolute terrors to their family and friend group. Frank & Moesha were both terrible characters.
@@NES-ml3by I hate when people say that, because the Parkers was a totally different show, and it was even more problematic because they played into the desperate big girl troupe - and much more fictional. They had scenarios that wouldn't even happen in real life lol. Parkers was a sitcom, Moesha was a dramedy. I loved them both individually for what they were.
Moesha could be a terrible friend too 💀. The episode where her and Niecey was fat shaming Kim and Kim’s boyfriend Michael had to confront both Moesha and Niecey about it.
Moesha was my FAVORITE show as a kid and rewatching on Netflix was like culture shock. She was HORRIBLEEEEEEEE. I could NOT even make it through the first season.
Yesss! I tried watching with my daughter and she was like “why did you like this show again? I didn’t have an answer because she was a mess and not relatable at all!
I don’t understand what was the problem with Kim’s weight. Moesha used to body shamed her, but Kim wasn’t all that big just a little bit thicker than everyone else.
Dee should have slapped Moesha a few times. I hated how Moesha treated Kim also. I would have been done with Niecy and Moesha when they were talking about her on that phone call.
Chile I said the same thing lol, Frank should have reprimanded Moesha for the way she spoke to her. That phone call should have been the end of their friendship
@@iconicallyiconic facts 💯 I use to feel so sorry for Dee. She truly loved Frank to be dealing with a brat like Moesha. Especially the episode when Moesha went off and embarrassed Dee about them replacing the old furniture. Mo definitely would have caught hands.👊🏿
@@thetruesoulofanaquarius9302 that was Moesha's deceased mother's furniture. It wasn't " old furniture ". You're sounding just as disrespectful as Dee for throwing it out.
But y’all mustve forgot it was revealed that they had all gossiped about each other at one point behind each others back. To me this was just real life typical teenage girl drama lol
Hakeem too. Moesha was always meddling in his business. She was very critical and judgemental when Hakeem was dating an older woman just to end up developing her older teacher later in the show
I love Brandy but lowkey I wouldn't be surprised if she treated Countess Vaughn the same way off camera. They didn't like each other /always beefing while filming Moesha.
@@thetruesoulofanaquarius9302I said the same thing!!! Brandy definitely took shots at her back in the day in her magazine interviews when they were feuding
@@leiiib if you look at the Rolanda talk show when the whole cast was on there from Moesha. Brandy was looking at Countess all up and down when she was interviewing.
well damn i guess i shouldn’t rewatch moesha as an adult. i loved this show when i was in elementary and middle school. moesha didn't seem as insufferable when i was a kid. she is so mean to her friends.
I actually fault Frank for a lot of Moesha’s issues with Dee. I don’t think Moesha got any kind of grief counseling for her mother’s death and then allowing Moesha to step into her mother’s role by making the family’s meals for years and then being all, “no worries, we’ve got Dee now,” sounds like a recipe for resentment. Plus, the furniture issue, it would’ve been better to give Moesha the option of having her mom’s furniture l kept in storage so that she could have it when she got older as opposed to selling it without considering her feelings. They didn’t blend the family well.
ill never forget and forgive her for outing Hakeem’s gay cousin 🤌🏾 & IN THAT ERA ????? IN HIGH SCHOOL ??? 🤦🏾♂️ and she really didn’t actually confirm it first, just made a huge assumption 🤦🏾♂️ in real life she would’ve been the start of sooo many people’s evil villain stories i swear 😂
@@Kingofthenet2 especially on that episode when he called her a “slut” when she got that tattoo or the belly piercing I really don’t remember which one it was I want to say she got both done and wanted to wear a crop top to show it off and he called her slut for it , and told her to go change . Yet he had a whole secret son and affair he was hiding from the world (ray J ) .
@@jaymitaylor9937 omg I remember that. It was totally uncalled for to call his own daughter this. She wasn’t even that underdressed. The crop top wasn’t as bad. That’s honestly what did it for me and made him the worst dad on TV history
Moesha did change how she treated Dee once Dee's niece came to visit (Laura from family matters). They got close as she got older, especially when she was dating Aaron. I definitely didn't like her with Q and as I got older I realized she treated Kim real bad. She had a lot of moments when she was a terrible friend.
I love Brandy but she had some issues on set with not only Countess but Ms. Sherly Lee Ralph as well which makes me believe she was similar to her character in a lot of ways. That episode with her embarrassing Hakeem in front of everyone for loaning him $20 showed the type of friend she was.
And don’t forget the beef that she had with Monica. I know it doesn’t have anything to do with the show, but I think Brandy has a little bit of a mean streak in her.
When I rewatched the show as an adult it really made me dislike Moesha , she is so intolerable ughh and she definitely treated Dee messed up at times when Dee was just trying with her
I’m still pissed from when she declined that new car from her dad. I’ll never forget. Her character just got worse as the show progressed. She was not a good friend.
Yeah, as teen dramas back in the 90s and 2000s were true reflections on depicting reality. Unlike with teen dramas today such as Riverdale and The Summer I Turned Pretty that are obsessed with featuring unrealistic depictions of “lgbt” by unrealistically having every character be depicted as “lgbt.”
@@NES-ml3by So having people shown as being true to human nature, or “straight” as you refer it to, since if it wasn’t for your “straight” parents you wouldn’t have been born as a result, is somehow wrong or a bad thing? Because it sounds like the 90s and 2000s, since I would know as I grew up in those times, were a time when people actually enjoyed life without being so obsessed with living a life of self hatred and false pride that comes with choosing to become “lgbt” that has become so prevalent in today’s times for whatever bizarre reason. Since you must be really soft from the obsessive PC enforcement of these modern times if you can’t take any jokes or humor on gay people, because all kinds of people get made fun of onscreen in laughing with the audience and not at them, otherwise as a Christian, I’d be complaining like you anytime shows like the Simpsons made fun of Christianity or religion in general, since I actually know that they’re jokes that are not meant to be taken seriously.
@@johnnyd3158 that's not really fair to say bc you said every show today has to many gay characters and they said back then there was no gay characters. If you wanna disagree or be homophobic atleast be fair about it
@@usersareoverrated5652 It’s amazing how closed minded people like you want to accuse more open minded people like me of being fearful of “lgbt” by using negative human words like “homophobic,” whatever that means, when it’s you who’s the fearful one of people’s opinions that are the opposite of yours by being istophobic. Since obviously it’s not about fear, it’s about common sense and perception, of which you’re lacking from the sounds of it As I have no reason to be scared of sin and evil like “lgbt,” because I was taught the difference between the righteous of Christ, and the temptations of sin. Since in God’s perfect world, all sin is nonexistent as we all live in peace and harmony, unlike humanity’s perfect world in which the line between good and sin is blurred.
I feel like Brandy played her actual self as Moesha. She’s always seemed shady to me. You saw the way she was acting toward Monica at the verzuz battle. The only time I’ve seen her sweet was in Cinderella and that’s probably only because she knew Whitney would have snatched her up for acting up.
YES!!! Brandy is entitled because her parents put her on in being a star. She has that attitude with everything... Lying that she was married because she's "too good" to be a Baby Mother...
@@juanautrey6228 it was Brandy’s snarky comments. And she’s been shady outside of that. Monica even spoke about it when she was a guest host on The Real. And she’s performed the boy is mine live before and changed up the lyrics to throw shade at Monica.
Yeah, now that you mention it every role that Brandy has done since Cinderella and before Cinderella, she’s basically been a mean girl. There has to be a reason that she plays that role so well, and it seems to be the only role she plays.
The way she always inserted herself in Hakeems business annoyed the hell out of me. she was a spoiled brat who couldn't handle things going her way ... now later on she does mature in her ways a bit but those first 3 seasons she was aggravating
Bruh. Everytime I’ve binged Moesha, I get so annoyed. Spoiled, attitudinal, ignorant, problematic. I will never forgive her for giving her Dad that Saturn back, cause sis wtf is wrong with you 😭 Then the way she treated Kim……!!!!!!!!!!! Whew Chile. I love Brandy as an artist, but her character on Moesha……she would’ve caught some hands at the right high school!!
I mean Moesha in real life would probably get into a lot of physical altercations due to her being her, but I feel like Moesha can actually fight and wouldn't be the person you wanna fuck with.
Yeah, I've been re-watching episodes of Moesha and she was a problem. But her character is realistic, just like her dad was problem as well. Moesha did have some cute boyfriends though! woo! lol
Y'all can see her character flaws and immaturity but can't understand why her father was so strict with her because fathers aren't supposed to notice what kind of person their child is
At what point of this video did I mention Frank ? 👀 this video is a breakdown about MOESHA. The topic at hand was Moesha secondly I have no issue with Frank’s parenting yes at some points he may have been too hard on her, but for the most part I agree with him.
@@iconicallyiconic This is just from my personal viewing experience, but personally I saw it as Moesha growing into a problematic person as a direct result of Frank's crappy, misogynistic parenting.
I would’ve taken the Saturn. It looked very nice coupe style. If the car was paid in full she could’ve kept it for the year saved up and traded the car in for the jeep and pay the difference. She could’ve went about way better
I just watched Moesha for the first time about 2 years ago. I couldn't stand this girl sometimes. I kinda related to her and her relationship with Dee (I lost my mom about 15 years ago when I was 7), so i get why she wasnt really feeling it. Id KILL for a stepmom like Dee because mine is not it 👀💀. On top of that, i still cant get over how her dad bought her a reliable, paid off car and she turned it down cause she wasnt vibing with it. Her dad owened a whole dealership so he wasnt throwing her a piece of junk like wtf. Sis was late to her own graduation because her own car broke down. That could never be me😂
3:55 the way Countess deLIVERED lol her funny ass delivery literally set Melinda up for a good laugh and she slam dunked . Team effort lol I absolutely love that part hahahaha can you tell
Another thing i never liked about moesha or a lot of 89's/2000's female characters is how big crazy they were. Like how many times has moesha put her and her friends in trouble because of her obsession with her little boyfriends.
The writers definitely utilised facts about the characters. No wonder Countess got that botched termination. Being big and then pregnant was like a double homicide...
I love Brandy and she's my birthday twin. But I always knew Mo was problematic bc Frank was problematic and expected the most from her. Kim was my fave and I followed her straight to The Parkers! 😅😊😊
I loved the show this is my comfort show… but I gotta admit there are certain episodes and seasons I can’t stand to watch. Mo was a terror. I do believe Brandy was playing herself 😅 I heard it used to go down on the set.
Moesha pissed me off a lot on this show. That's why it's important to rewatch shows you loved as a kid once you're an adult. Moesha was terrible. It was messed up too when she clowned Hakeem for owing her money only to find out his mama couldn't pay the bills.
Seasons 2 and 3 were really where the show started reaching its peak. The seasons after that were flat-out trash, especially with the introduction of Ray J's character.
Oh you’ve got to do some more videos like this , this was goood lol you should do Blair next because she was so problematic, classist and a complete bully I would love a video on her 😊 great video
One episode that made me very hot was when she demanded Dee to apologize to her because Dee was trying to sell the couch she had an amazing step mom she had no reason to be so mean
As I got older watching this show, I hated it, I didnt like how they treated Kim that's for sure, and Moesha was so ungrateful , spoiled and a narracist... she was just like father . She was a terrible friend to Kim.
Moesha was the show to watch in its heyday nd even watching it then I really didn’t like Moesha watching it now she was too stuck up didn’t like what she did to Hakeem’s cousin nd his gf Tiffany it’s like whenever anyone has something better it’s like she gotta get that too
