The hardest part is getting the original master tape out of the vault and getting the rights to make a copy once you have that the rest is a lot easier. Bro you sound just like me I was just telling another subscriber that this has all the fidelity that I need at this price point sure the one step the two LP might have a little bit more to it but I don't like spending $150 on records in fact that's rarely a thing I ever do I'm very happy with the sonics at this price point because like you I'm retired My wife doesn't work, and is not retired yet she's only 60 so we're a one income family still but life is great just can't buy every record I want and I'm very happy at this point in time anyway I have lots of records I don't even listen to so I don't need to buy others I'm not going to listen to you kind of a deal. It's really nice when you come across one of those great records that you love and it finally has been made in audiophile version that is affordable well at least more affordable than a one step 2 LP 45 RPM kind of a deal. Good to see you Ronny! I've had the CBS 1/2 speed of the Santana album probably ever since it came out. Personally on my system, I found it mind-blowingly good! It didn't sound 'Bright' at all. BUT... the dynamics and soundstage were among the very best I've heard (I have over 2600 albums on vinyl) Extremely dynamic! I was super impressed, I had just taken it out a month ago or so, I hadn't listened to it in years. I compared it to the recent Chris Bellman pressing, and it absolutely blew it away no comparison. Actually, in 'Audiophile' circles the CBS Santana and the Wish You Were Here are considered the best sounding of the CBS 1/2 speed series. Maybe you just got a bad one somehow, because when I heard mine here recently, I thought DAMN I don't feel like I am missing anything from not having the pricey 1-Step that everybody raves about. But... with that said, I'm glad you say the new MFSL pressing is really good. It might be interesting to compare the two myself on my system. Remember too, if you have looked at my setup, I have two tube driven tall open baffle multi-driver dipole line arrays with 13 drivers a side + separately biamped 15" dipole woofers. So, one thing my system REALLY shows up on recordings is the soundstage and a very wide and deep image if the recording is there. And the CBS on my system had a HUGE soundstage and again, was one of THE most dynamic sounding albums in my collection. Thanks for the comparison Ron!
Say Ronnie. I only have one mobile fidelity album and it was a gift. It's a Bob Dylan album. I've a couple of Abraxas albums, I've an American copy and an OG Canadian copy, no poster though. When Santana came out in 69 at Woodstock they were a completely different sound to us kids up here in Toronto. We had none of that tex mex or whatever they call that Spanish influenced rock. We loved it especially Carlos's guitar playing... Cheers

Thank you Charlie this is one of the great records of all time and now we have a true audiophile version at an affordable price. I guess we kind of knew it would be good but how good I'm very happy I don't need to get the one step or the two LP to get that little bit extra I'm happy at this price point with the sonics that we're getting here very good. Saw Santana play that album abraxas in its entirety 1972 at Anaheim convention center 4th row center and they opened up for deep purple and my super vinyl copy sounds great

@@RocknRonni Ron I highly recommend the new deep purple machine Head that came out yesterday the rhino rocktober remixed by Dweezil Zappa I bought the 50th anniversary edition 2 months ago with the purple colored vinyl this new remix sounds a lot different
Kevin Gray said on an interview that DSD 264 impressed him, he didn't hear any "artifacts" at that high of resolution! They can keep cutting lacquers with no degradation! Good to see you man, I may not always comment, but I watch!😊
@@analoguecity3454 so good to hear from you always enjoy your comments yeah this is the future I believe DSD they're not going to be letting the tapes out of the vaults The tapes are too valuable they're worth 10 times any money they could make from record sales for anyone record. They won't be handing them out willy-nilly like they did back in the '90s You're going to have to bring your machine to the vault and record it to make records in the future that's the way I see it. I have the earlier 2012 I think Mofi Abraxas 33 RPM. I also have the CBS UK Abraxas which surprisingly sounds excellent. I compared both to the original CBS 2 eye pressing and it's close to the UK, but not as good. The MOFI sounds great otherwise . I wonder how it compares to the new 33 RPM..
@@rixvspinner bro I bought that 2012, 33 and a third of abraxas when I was at a Hi-Fi show in Jacksonville it wasn't very good sounding at all The new 33 and a third will blow the socks off that thing. @@chriss6302 bro I said it was a low number why you want to nitpick about the number and I said in the beginning of the video the one step was taken from the DSD file they're using the same tape for the one step as they did for the 33 The difference is one was 2 LP 45 and a one step process and new release was done at 33.3 and a 3 step process as you know. I thought I made that clear. I'm sorry if it wasn't. Most people know all the facts about these records. Actually the original what they call a one step is actually a two-step because they made a copy of the original tape and they made the lacquer from that, two steps from the master. But you're right I could have just done a little Google search and found out the information very simple to do and I usually do stuff like that just being lazy. @@grootwilliams well it's always kind of been my contention that why are they making digital records why not just buy the CD and a good CD like an SACD player so because it's a lot cheaper and they sound great if you've got a good DA converter in your chain and I think the Ultra disc are highly regarded for being high quality. recordings. I did a video a couple years ago somebody asked me what my thoughts were on digital versus analog. so I took a record I recorded it on my alasis master link at both 16-bit and 24-bit and then I compared all three and I couldn't tell the difference between any of them. Now that's from a vinyl rip but it just shows how good the digital format can be not like when you buy a CD that's been made to a low standard you can tell the difference but the ultra disk is made to a high standard.
I think DSD should start to be the standard for cutting from files. I mean why not? Maybe then there would be more consistency? Also I reckon this must be the same file that the one step was cut from and they probably just used that to cut to 33 for the new one. That’s my guess.
@@charlesgund4812 this is exactly the file that they used That's the only one they have it was an easy sell to Columbia Sony hey we'd like to make a record using a tape that we have we don't need anything from you we just want to give you money. And I agree if Chad Kassum can't tell the difference between the original master tape and DSD I think is pretty good I have a video where I talk about that last year. The thing is the big record companies that control a lot of this stuff could give a flying j about high fidelity. But for the folks that do, hey I just need to come to your place make a copy of your master tape you can even keep it in your vault That's a good selling point to get those very difficult especially those UK original tapes you can fly your machine over to the UK get that original tape make a file bring it back here and make the best sounding US pressing you ever heard. Back in the '90s early 2000s the record companies were still willing to let you use their original master tapes I don't believe this is true anymore DSD is probably the only way you're going to be able to make records in the future I don't have a problem with it The record sound great.
Nice Didn’t know it was released so I m anxious to hear! Couple things I disagree with you on is 180 gram vinyl really has no effect on the quality of the sound The RCA thin flexible vinyl sound wonderful The set is a low number also means nothing as a lot of the numbers aren’t in any order!!!
As I said in the video it does not affect the sound it only is there to lessen warpage of records but it's an indicator that maybe there's been more care taken in the production of the record since they're going to the extra expense of making it a heavier grade vinyl a lot of times those companies are getting better mastering engineers and they're getting better pressing plants but as I said it's not always better. Just cuz it's 180 g doesn't mean it sounds better it's got nothing to do with anything except the weight of the record. Sorry if I wasn't clear sometimes being long winded l miss making my point directly. And as I stated about the number it's the number of the cover. And who knows what that means. All it means it's just one of the earlier records that was pressed it's never exactly that number. Anyway I do appreciate the feedback because it helps me realize I should formulize my point better in for future videos I always appreciate when people help me in that regard.
Bro I wish I could get a promo as I said it's number 627 promos are always unnumbered or they'll number 0000 I have a cousin that doesn't live very far from where Chad kasam has acoustic sounds and I want to go see Chad kasson whenever I visit my cousin, I wanted to go see Chad and maybe he could send me a few records I don't need every single one like Michael fremer gets from mofi and probably Chad as well but just the odd one that he thinks he would like me to review for him that would be nice I could do more reviews and get a couple free records. My friend you need to buy this record it will change your life this this DSD it's not like digital it's fantastic I have a video that I made last year the Fella has a DSD file and he has the master tape he plays them both for Chad Kassum and two other folks that are in the Hi-Fi industry they were asked which one was analog and which one was digital they all picked the DSD as the analog because they were assuming the best sounding one had to be analogue That's how good this DSD is. So much appreciate you leaving this comment More folks need to appreciate DSD and this title is beloved by many and I believe this current offering by mofi gives you the best sonics for the money biggest bang for the buck here because I'm not one that likes to spend $150 and $200 for a record just to get that little extra.
