I sent this kid and you did not find her 24. And when about three months had passed, it was told to Judah, saying, Tamar, your daughter-in-law, has committed adultery. And now she is also pregnant from adultery. Then Judah said, “Take her out and let her be burned.” (Genesis, 38) Is this the word of the Lord?

The difference here is that they were careful about not claiming to be trying to use persuasion or any deceptive tactics.
