P Jayachandran is 77 age old legendary playback Singer. He started his Cinema life in 1966. Still his voice youthful and commonly using for Malayalam film industry. He has recorded more than 15000 film and non film songs in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada , Telugu and Hindi languages. Recently ,he released his certain Carnatic classical Songs at the age of 77. He awarded Tamil Nadu government' s Kalaimamani award in 1997 for his greatest contribution to Tamil Cinema. He received one National award, one Tamil Nadu state award and five Kerala state award. His voice largely used for Hindu devotional songs. His several Hindu devotional music albums were super hits. He also known as Bhava gayakan which means Singer of feel . His voice is very divine and very youthful still. He was a student of the National High School, Irinjalakuda from where he received many prizes for playing the mridangam and light music in the State School Youth Festival. All the languages he sang had accurate pronunciation. He acted in four Malayalam movies. He sung lot of variety of songs in South Indian languages. He has been successful in his film career for 56 years.

Most Prestigious Awards
Jayachandran got his first Kerala State Government award for best male playback singer in 1972 for the song "Suprabhatham..." for the film "Panitheeratha Veedu". Its music was scored by Mellisai Mannan Sree M.S.Viswanathan.
The year 1978 brought him another state award. The song was" Ragam Sreeragam" for the film "Bandhanam" and the music director was M.B.Sreenivasan.
He received a prestigious National award for best male playback singer in 1986 for "Sivasankara Sarva Saranya Vibho...", a Sree Narayana Gurusthuthi sung for the film "Sree Narayana Guru". The music was scored by the great legend Devarajan Master.
The song “Prayam Nammil..." from the film “Niram” brought him a third state award in 1999. He got the first Asianet award and the Arabian award for the same song in the same year. Its music was done by Sree Vidyasagar.
Another most valuable award that Jayachandran honored with was the Swaralaya Kairali Yesudas Award on the very beginning of 2001. The first of its kind and the first person to receive it, this award has a firm position in Jayachandran's heart. The motive behind this award is to choose the best from the singers within a span of 30 years. This goes to prove that the contributions of Jayachandran are the best, were the best, and will be the best.
He got Kerala State Government award again in 2004 for “Neeyoru Puzhayay..” in Thilakkom (Music: Kaithapram Viswanathan) and
in 2015 for the songs in Ennum Eppozhum, Ennu Ninte Moideen and Jilebi.
In addition to this he was honoured by so many awards like Mathrubhumi Film award, Film Critics Award, Gayaka Retnam, Bhava Gayakan etc.
He also received “Baburaj Awaed-2017”, “Kalamandalam Ramankutty Nair Award-2017”, Devarajan Sakthigatha Award-2017”, “Film Crtics Awrd-2017” , “Vaikom Muhammaed Basheer Award -2018” ,”Vayalar Award-2019”, “Lifetime Excellence Award of RedFM-2019” and Johnson - sangeetha Rathnam Award-2019”.
Important awards in Tamil
In 1994, he received the Tamil Nadu state Government award for the best singer for the song, "Kathazham Kattuvazhi..." for the film "KizhakkuCheemayile". A.R.Rahman has composed the music.
As recognition for his contribution to Tamil film music, he was honoured with the "Kalaimamani" award of the Tamil Nadu Government in 1997.
