Moichara is a century old cattle race in Herobhanga village in the District of Canning in West Bengal, India which marks the arrival of Monsoon. The main aim of the festival is to test the capacity of bulls before starting cultivation in the monsoon and also to increase the fertility of the soil. This festival tales place in the month of July every year. The local farmers decide upon a paddy field and their bulls race on the waterlogged paddy field. The villagers whole heartedly try their best to keep this tradition of bull racing alive. This festival also attracts thousands of photograpers who capture stunning photographs of the bulls racing along with splashing of waters, which add beauty to their photographs. This annual two day festival brings harmony among the people of the village and it also serves the purpose of improving the agriculture of the place.
