Hey Mo! I'm also a "hair" vlogger here on you tuber, and a current student at the Aveda Insititue, although a part time one. I entered school last September, and its been a seriously challenging (almost) 15 months! My class and I are nearly in the Gamma phase with our projected date of graduation being in January of 2015. As I get closer to it, I've found that its been more and more difficult for me to feel cheerful about coming in, staying late and taking clients on the clinic floor - I miss my daughter at night, and a normal schedule, but your video reminded me of how truly blessed I've been in having this experience, and how fortunate I am to have taken this journey with Aveda. I too, waited years for this opportunity - sometimes it was a matter of saving money, other times it was about my daughter being too young and in other instances it just felt like the wrong time. When I finally began it felt like I'd never be able to start a day of class without choking up a little, and yet, somewhere towards the end of it I've grown impatient and maybe even a bit jaded. Seeing another woman like yourself, discuss dreams that are definitely familiar, with the same enthusiasm and emotion that I felt in the beginning, has put a lot back into perspective for me. As a native New Yorker, I can tell you that I saw many schools before choosing and Aveda is the best! Nothing else compares in terms of education, as we get two correlating curriculums - New York State's and Aveda's. Its like a two for one! You're in for a world of studying, but it'll be so worth it - and since you're already familiar with the products it'll be that much more fun because it'll be like stepping into a "family" that you're obviously already a part of! Not to mention, we as the night students, sometimes get the day time teachers as subs, and they're all wonderful, good people. You'll love Kevin! And Ayesha taught me some tricks with blowdrying that have become invaluable to me! We have Jess, Miss Colette and Shiri at night, all fantastic, so I hope you get a chance to work with them too!! One of my classmates posted this video in a private Facebook group that we keep in touch with, and we know you're coming and we're excited to meet you! I've since subscribed to your channel and I'm looking forward to giving you a hug and welcoming you too! My class begins at 5:45pm, 45 minutes after you'll have clocked out, but many of us come early to set up, so I hope to see you soon! thanks to Mo, I had the best twist out of my hair's existence. I've been natural since 2006 and after watching one of your tutorials, I had the best twist out of my life. My hair was so full. I didn't have to use a pick comb. The volume blew me away. You are awesome and yes, God said it was time for you to use your talent and I'm so glad that you are. Congratulations Mo, I went through the same program, I cried! GOD is so Gracious and Awesome! I was Humbled, to be in my purpose too. I finished the program and now I'm a licensed Cosmetology Manager!! Don't stop, Mo keep going no matter how hard it gets. It was such a Fun experience for me, and the girls in school were so fun and sweet. Aveda is a great company that Loves the earth, and because I'm a tree hugger type person, I loved going to school every day and learning all Aveda had to offer. GOD paid for the whole program and my manager's license too, because the Lord knew I did not have the money! HE worked it out I am So Grateful to be in my purpose! I wanted my own salon and in order to do that I had to have my manager's license. it was my passion and still is! And now I'm going to get my Bachelor's Degree in Business! We're like like on the same purposeful journey, but in different Directions. Hope to see you soon. Ms. MO!!!!! I am a fairly new transitioner for 6 mo now and never thought that I would be able to style my own hair. I had AN INSTINCT to go natural and found your wonderful videos here. And, let me say, I am very grateful! I suffer from "heat damage" from getting my hair pressed for most of my life and I am PARANOID to blow dry my hair, let alone--flat iron. I will cut off the dead ends once I hit the one year mark. Wellllllll, I have seen TONS of videos from the most known utubers but I NEVER was moved enough to subscribe. Your story here moved me to tears, truly. I feel that God has PROTECTION around you and will continue to send blessings your way because YOU LOVE HIM. I pray that you TRUST him in ALL that you do and lean not on your own understanding. I pray that you always remember James 4:8 no matter how famous you become. I volunteered to be a "social media superstar" for that salon when I was first hired, but I was not supported to make the position what It could have been. Mo, I love your story and have been following you for almost a year! I am a degreed professional but have had a burning passion for cosmetology for a very long time-- I just never pursued it. I finally made a decision to enroll this December but, due to some unexpected financial obligations, I will be pushing my date back to next year. I was up last night, heavy-hearted that another year would have to pass before I could walk into my dream but after watching your video today, and hearing how much preparation you did before making this big move, it encouraged me. I've traveled 1,000 miles to Atl in 2012 and back to NY (a little over a year later) to yield to God's will. In Jan of 2014 I stumbled into Cosmetology School "just to see what happens" and a year later I was licensed! I'm supposed to be doing this! I'm definitely not where God is setting me up to be but I'm on my way! You have an amazing gift and you are very knowledgable and have helped so many people! From watching you, I know that you will do great....all you gotta do is keep you and the client safe and keep yout area clean and organized. Yes, state board I'd an all day process, but is worth the wait. I've learned how to do hair by watching others do it. After years of going to school and working, I learned not to be afraid and apply for Cosmo school. That's where my heart was always leaning towards, doing hair. So now that I have followed my dream it's easy for me to say, as long as I do what I want, I will be happy. I put aside the negative remarks and went for it after knowing what I have always wanted to do. I stopped being scared one day.
